    Pre Lap Band Surgery Diet

I never had a pre op diet so I cant help you there. I would call them and ask if you can replace some of the aweful things with better tasting things.
  2. Try to snap out of it. The scale moving should be all the motivation you need.

Do you eat the calories you burn?

I dont go over 1000 calories a day sometimes only 800 and I am not starving. I dont believe you body goes in to starvation mode because you limit your calories. I think your weight gets stuck for a while because your body is adjusting but I dont think it has anything to do with starvation after all if we were all starving we would be dead eventually wouldnt we? This whole got to exercise to burn what you eat is over rated. If you give your body less food it has no choice but to lose weight because it will burn your fat for energy provided your eating a healthy meal.

    Over+eating+band+area+sore

I dont know what your talking about would you like to rephrase your question. Are you overeating? Your too tight? Your sore what is it?
  5. There will be times that scale wont move for months you just have to keep doing what your doing it will come. If you get demotivated this quick in the game then your going to be unhappy all the way. The band does not make you lose weight fast 1-2lbs a week

I would hope no one would be stupid enough to pay for some crap like that lol
  7. You will probably always have to take chewable vitamins unless you find small ones which I have yet to see small multi vitamins

Lap Band Surgery Day 3, Talk Me Down!

It wouldnt be normal if you werent feeling this way. I hated broth from day one. I was so happy to have a protein shake after four days that I felt sad for myself lol. Im two years out and it does get better. Once you survive the first week you will be okay. Honestly I couldnt wait to eat pudding either and I cherished every stinkin bite. Its funny how we are consumed with missing food. But it will get better. Just dont watch tv that has food commericials you will really hate yourself lol Good luck it does get better and I bet the day you can have pudding it will be for breakfast lol
  9. maybe get some powerade or gatorade to help restore your electolytes

    Can't Control Appetite

At a week post op you are going to be hungry you should still be on liquids or full liquids at best to give you stomach time to heal. You have to deal with the hunger its part of post op they are not going to fill you after just a week you will be lucky if they fill you after six weeks. Your stomach has to have time to heal. Stop eating real food unless your doctor told you that you can. You have to have some control in the beginning. Find something to do with your self so you wont think about food and drink plenty of water. Your doctor is not going to give you a fill one week post op

Having A Hard Go Of It

The treadmill is boring to say the least but if your going to walk on the treadmill you have to push yourself that extra minute. If you do it constantly every week go up a little more. The endurance will come in time. I find walking outside is much better than the tread mill. Maybe if you have the money it would benefit you to join a gym and have a trainer for a couple of weeks to get you in gear.

Chewing Gum After Lap Band Surgery?

gum gave me terrible pain in my stomach so I dont chew it. I think its the whole swallow air thing but I cant chew gum
  13. Being hungry for a few weeks wont kill you. Stay on your diet its not worth screwing up at two weeks post op. I
  14. Well if your gaining weight then yes have a fill but I never needed a fill for a year even with hunger because I was losing steadily. My weight loss only stopped when I quit smoking but this week I have lost 8 lbs because I changed my diet. If your gaining and have never had a fill then yes get a fill but if your steady losing then I dont see the need for a fill. I have good restriction with the amount of food that makes me full but my hunger has never been controlled by the band and Im not getting tight just to stop being hungry. None of us ever knew what hunger was before and I dont have a problem with feeling hungry at times. Its good to feel hungry for once in my life. But no matter what if you dont watch what you eat you can get 1000 fills it wont stop you from gaining weight if you dont eat right.

    Want A Lap Band Unfill

I dont understand why people have surgery to lose weight but then want a break? If your diabetic do you take a break from your diet or medication? If you have high blood pressure do you take a break from your medication? If you cant eat meat then your too tight and especially if your having acid reflux. You should be able to eat normal with the band just less it shouldnt be a burden. But a vacation from it why would you want to go back to eating like that? The thought of pigging out makes me sick and I hate to see people eat like that.
  16. I agree that people are in too big of a hurry to get fills and doctors are right for not filling you if you are constantly losing weight. Once you get filled completely up and you have the rest of your life with the band what happens then when you can never get another fill. I have been banded two years and only filled twice and that was after a year with no fills and only have 3 cc's in my band. Im not in a hurry to get filled. I will go in January for the next fill but I am happy with my weight loss so is my doctor and he told me when I need one come in and thats what Im doing . I dont believe that you cant have some control over what you eat and the amount you eat the you need to get filled up every six weeks just for the sake of getting a fill. There are times weight loss will stop no matter how many fills you get and will be stagnant for a while but then it picks up again when you mix up your diet. Its only my opinion but I say no to a lot of fills and yes to having some constraint and accountability of your own. Yes we had th surgery to lose weight but I have this thing forever I will use it wisely and the other part will be me doing the rest. Maybe some dont have the will power or desire to try it at least to some degree on their own. But I refuse to let some doctor fill me every six weeks just because thats what he wants to do.

    Banded Yesterday!!

broth, sugar free jello, sugar free pops, water, I was on liquids for 14 days but it was fine
  19. You have to look at it as not about food anymore and look at all the good 60lbs lost has done for you. I dont miss being a pig anymore or dont think about wanting to eat everything just because its a holiday I think about how lucky I am to have the most amazing husband ever and that by having the surgery it has added years to my life and that I will have that much more time to be with him. You have to stop thinking about food just because its the holdiay and think about how much your family means to you. I wasnt perfect and ate some pie but I wasnt consumed with food and I am two years out. I dont look at food anymore in the same way. I look at it to nourish my body and not because I want it. Your life and mind have to change and not have the attitude that you cant eat like everyone else because when I look at others eat enough for three people it makes me sick.

Pcp Says No Alcohol With Lap Band?

Its just a bunch of empty calories that you dont need the first six months to a year. Whats more important losing weight or having a drink.
  21. Eating with others doesnt bother me because I look at it as a time to socialize not think about food. I dont care how much they eat because they have to deal with that. I just think how fortunate I am not to have to stuff my face til I am over full anymore and how much a disgrace I use to be to myself.

To Fill Or Not To Fill My Lap Band?

You can lose without fills I never had one fill for the first year and lost 70lbs and only this entire year everyone is different and it is possible that the band just being in place is enough for you to keep losing.
  23. cheryl2586

To Fill Or Not To Fill My Lap Band?

I would say no to the fill. I also agree that increasing calories does not mean weight loss. I believe that some people have to stay at a certain calorie intake to lose I cant go above 1000 or I dont lose. Everyone doesnt need 1200 calories to lose weight or more. I would say that 600 is a little bit to less and you need more than that but I dont go over 1000 cause if I do I gain.

    Is This Normal?

There are going to be times that you dont lose weight sometimes for a month or two at a time its normal just keep doing what your doing. Call you doctor for the food you should be eating everyone has a different diet.
  25. Your pcp does have to clear you for surgery not the surgeon. She must write a letter of medical necessity but she must also clear you for surgery and part of that is having blood test that are normal. If your liver enzymes are elevated then the surgeon will not do the surgery. Anyone having surgery has to be cleared for surgery by their pcp.
