Anyone Else Have A Long Diet Regimen To Follow?
cheryl2586 replied to CCornell87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say go to gnc and get some hoodia super thin it tricks the brain in to thinking your fool it has helped me a lot. I never lost my hunger two and a half years later. You take it a half hour before you eat it takes about five days to start working but when it does its heaven. Cant hurt to try it. -
Band Erosion/deterioration And Esophageal Cancer?
cheryl2586 replied to azarnoth28's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you research you will see that most erosion comes from excessive pressure placed on the band from over eating. As far as esophageal cancer goes I doubt that is from the band many people get it from having barretts esophagus which comes from years of acid reflux. Not from the band. Thats all I can say. -
the pouch should hold two to four onces depending on how long you have had it. Our nutritionist told us that after a year you should be able to eat a small (michellinas example) and that is all. I dont do well with meat most days so I supplement with protein shakes and eat lots of fruit and vegetables. I guess I have become mostly vegetarian because meat does not like my band or my stomach anymore.

Preop Diet. No Weight Loss.
cheryl2586 replied to Boniluuu's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But what do you mean by lots of protein drinks? Maybe you're drinking more in a day then your supposed to. Just sayin we dont know if you dont tell us exactly what you have been eating. -
Anti-Inflammatory Question!
cheryl2586 replied to Cynesra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take motrin and aleve every single day I am two and three months banded no problems. I cant live without them or I would not be able to move. Tylenol does nothing for severe arthritis pain. Its not like its laying in your pouch it goes right down. Im not gonna hurt because I have the band. I just make sure I eat before or after I take them -

cheryl2586 replied to JJLaw08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Natural Sweeteners For Coffee?
cheryl2586 replied to georgia girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I use pure via its not bad but I would stay away from syrup and honey because it is pure sugar. Sugar in the raw makes it and I like it -
Communication Problems
cheryl2586 replied to lucky2bLAURA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most of the times when a doctor sends referrals to diffferent places it is up to the place to contact you and the doctors office usually does not follow up to see if they called because they are suppose to call. Now if they never called that would be different but once the scheduler at the doctors office sets it up, its up to the place that is doing th procedure to call the patient and tell them when it is. -
Addicted To The Scale
cheryl2586 replied to MissBee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I weigh every morning and every night and if I weigh the same thing at night as I did in the morning that means when I weigh in the morning I will be less -
first of all your whole diet is mainly carbs. Oatmeal carbs, pretzels carbs, wheat bread carbs, mashed potatoes carbs. Eat more protein right now and leave the carbs alone. If you want carbs eat vegetables and fruit for now. And 22lbs in five weeks is plenty thats almost 5lbs a week.

How do you think someone on line will help you because just like you dont want to exercise for three days it is just as simple not to turn on your computer. You have to want this really bad if not no one can make you do it but you.

Why Do Things Keep Changing? (Long)
cheryl2586 replied to YngGram's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes I believe this fickle thing changes. I can go along fine for a week and have no issues then that one day everything gets stuck, Im swollen for days and cant eat. It annoys me most of the time and I really wish I could get this thing out of my gut. I have basically for the last year been doing it on my own because if I get anymore fluid in my band I wont be able to eat at all. Now mind you I only have 3 cc's in my band and would love for every inch of it to evaporate because for the last year I have spent more time on liquids than post op. I dont think that drinking protein shakes is helping us. I finally started doing the body by visalius so that I can get some good vitamins in. I really am only hungry at dinner the rest of the day I could care less but I eat anyway just so I dont feel like crap. -
Drink Or Not To Drink
cheryl2586 replied to Jdunn23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

cheryl2586 replied to Linda145's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pain is not describable and I hate when it happens. Most of the time I can pass it but on occassion when it wouldnt it came up with no problem then I have extreme swelling and liquids til it feels better. I can say this I WILL NEVER EAT HAMBURGER AGAIN EVER EVER EVER LOL -

Now That You Have Had The Surgury, What Negatives Have You Experienced Thus Far?
cheryl2586 replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would have to say the worst for me is accepting there are just some foods that I cant eat because they will get stuck and when I do get stuck the swelling is horrible for about two days. I have spent more time in this last year on liquids then in my life and there are days I wish I could rip this thing out of my gut, however it saved my life so the little crap I guess is just that. -
Have You Had A Unfill Just For Vacation Reasons Or A Break?
cheryl2586 replied to sweetcalichic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only reason I would say no is because once you get an unfill you might not be able to get back to where you are now. When they unfill you the band usually wont go back to the green zone. -
I too dont understand the insecurity. If you have a tummy tuck your going to have even a bigger scar from hip to hip so how will that help you? You cant keep a man if your always thinking he is doing something that is just lack of trust. I also dont see why they are taking out all your fluid at each fill that is insane and ridiculous the only fluid that needs to come out is just a little to make sure they are in the right place. Seems to me your not only insecure but you have a doctor that doesnt know a darn thing about filling you.

Food Ideas For Clear Liquid Diet Phase??
cheryl2586 replied to CarilLu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What about the flavored decaf teas, orange spice, camomille, earl grey they are delish and might be more satisfying then broth and jello. If your doctor told you to stay on clear liquids for a week then I would do as he said. You will be able to eat soon. -
List Of Vitamins Needed After Surgery
cheryl2586 replied to Mish1908's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are NOT supposed to take iron unless you are deficient in it. Excessive iron stores in your body especially for men can cause a cardiac arrest. Just take a multi vitamin and it should be enough unless they find you are deficient in a vitamin. Most of the protein shakes are loaded with vitamins. -
Stalled! Need Suggestions
cheryl2586 replied to Lakeshia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you ever thought that you have lost your 40% of excessive weight and now you will have to do the rest. If you read statistics after the first year is the most weight loss then it slows down dramatically. The band is only guaranteed for 40% of excessive weight. If you lose more its just luck. Ive been stuck for 1 year and it didnt matter what I did. Finally the scale started moving again some times you just have to be patient and it will move again. -
Buy yourself a good food scale thats what I did and you will be surprised how little 3 ounces is. Its the best present I gave to me.
-
But getting an unfill is not guaranteed you will get back to the right zone. I would say no to the unfill no matter where your going. Your band was not put there for you to take a holiday away from it. It was put there for life not to have it unfilled whenever you desire. If you get an unfill you may be sorry because you dont always have success of getting back to the right place.

After A Lap Band Fill What Do You Eat???
cheryl2586 replied to fofo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stay on liquids for a few days because I get a lot of swelling after a fill. I dont take vitamins because I am not vitamin deficient. I eat a balance meal breakfast, lunch and dinner and rarely eat junk my vitamin levels are fine. I think if your not vitamin deficient your just wasting money to have expensive pee lol -
Help Stuck In Starvation Mode
cheryl2586 replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your weight will begin to move again. How do anorexics become 60lbs if their bodies are in starvation mode they cant if you dont eat eventually you will lose weight your body will get the signal and start burning your own fat. It can only preserve it for so long then it has to use it. If you eat less calories you will lose weight that whole got to eat 1700 calories to lose weight is bull. If your body goes long enough with less calories it has no other option than to burn the fat.
