I like Lipton diet green tea. No calories. I have drank the sweet leaf tea but I dont like it as much as the green tea.

I am three years post op and I get hungry. Hunger is the bodies natural response to the need of food. If your looking for never being hungry I dont think that will happen. You have to work with some of this yourself. If you're still hungry every two to three hours then maybe your not really hungry. If you are really hungry then maybe you're eating the wrong things to keep you full. I still get hungry even at three years post op and no I am never going to be filled up because that is the problem. Everyone is in a hurry to get filled up then what happens? You have nothing to work with. Try to control some of your hunger yourself. Take some hoodia. It works wonders. You can't depend solely on the band to completely take away your hunger.

Need Help With Protein Selection!
cheryl2586 replied to destynee1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ewww Atkins taste aweful. EAS is about the best I have had yet. -
You have to go cold turkey and never eat it again. I can't and won't I have worked to hard to have sugar of any kind. As a matter of fact I was in chili's today eating a grilled chicken salad and the waitress told me if you fill out this card you can get free desserts and appetizers and I told her I eat neither. I never order and appetizer or do I eat any sweets ever. Its all about what you want. Giving up sugar will help speed up your weight loss

But you won't be on protein shakes forever so why even get it. Buy a cup with a mixing ball for 14.99 and call it a day. You shouldn't be drinking shakes past six months post op if even then maybe 3.

Tummy Tuck Or Paniculectomy
cheryl2586 replied to cheryl2586's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I just cant take that much time off from work right now after the first of the year. I was thinking it would be less time with a panniculectomy and less money. -
Well if you're on clear liquids your there is nothing in there. I would say I was about 5 or six days post op before I went but then again I took a laxative the day before and was pretty empty going in.

Please Help Me Understand Post Op Diet Rules Normal Diet Importance Of Carbs & Cals
cheryl2586 replied to 2savemylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldnt suggest frozen meals because in all reality they really are not healthy just because it says they are. I eat roughly 800 calories a day. I get about 90 grams of protein and I do not drink shakes. I would rather cosume my calories in food then in drinks. But then again I am a vegan so I get protein from greek yogurt, beans sometimes, tofu, vegan burgers, I do not reccomend shakes after six months post op. I have been banded almost three years and protein shakes are a thing of the past. I dont want them anymore. I want food and drink only water and decaf coffee in the morning. Its just me and my way. I cant eat meat at all so I quit trying. I will once in a while eat tuna fish but usually not often. -

How Do You Do When You Are On Vacation?
cheryl2586 replied to SueBee01's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree. Vacation is not about food anymore for me either. I eat enough to be satisfied but I stay away from sugar because it is my total down fall. -
Good for you!

4 Weeks Of Working Out (5Days A Week) Lost 2.8Lbs !! Has This Happened To You?
cheryl2586 replied to blackcadillacs5's topic in Fitness & Exercise
but have you lost inches? Using weights makes you bulk up and muscle makes you weigh more. Concentrate on the inches right now -
My doctor told me no pink or blue sweeteners, to only use stuff made with sucralose like splenda or stevia. It has worked for me.

My worst lasted about 30 minutes and the pain was excruciating. After that horrible episode I drank liquids for 3 days it was that bad. But I think you will be fine after a day or by tomorrow.

Well if you need to eat at night then eat protein. The mayo, cookies and crackers are definitely not helping you. I dont eat after 6 but if I get hungry I grab a boiled egg or something like that or make some scrambled eggs. You have to think of the end result ahead of you. You can do this you just have to put your mind to it.

I was banded in 2009. The day of surgery I was tipping the scales at 287lbs. The first six months was heaven and 70lbs gone. I decided to quit smoking at that point and my weight loss stalled. I got my first fill a year later and still was not losing weight. I started putting weight back on after smoking not because I was eating the wrong things but because my no metabolism body, really had none now. I went and got a second fill and still lost no weight. This year I was determined that I was getting below 200lbs if it killed me. My doctor suggested I try the ideal Protein diet to get my body in quick ketosis and she promised I would lose weight. In two months I lost 40lbs and this morning I am 182 and three pounds away from the 170's. Even though we all have surgery, it is not always the answer to get to our goal weight. Sometimes we have to push through and do without some things to get there. I am now a vegan and feeling happy with myself. Giving up meat was not an option for me because I can not eat meat any longer. I do however make a darn good black bean casserole. So what am I saying? To all of you who are struggling to get to goal or are newly banded or getting banded, sometimes this journey isnt always easy. Sometimes weight loss stalls for months and in my case for a year. I never quit even though I was not losing. I was maintaining at that time. I needed help to get me to where I am because no matter what I did I could not get my weight to move. Patience is a necessity for this to work. I am sitting at my desk and my stomach is no longer sitting in my lap. I don't cheat ever and being a vegan is not half bad. It is a journey that you must make up your mind that you will not cheat til you get to goal. I have not had one piece of anything sweet in three years. I don't miss it. I do not eat fast food and have not in three years. I don't miss it. One day I did go to Wendy's and get a chicken sandwhich and I spit it out on the first bite. It was really disgusting. My taste have changed but my body is thanking me. You all can do this with perseverance and determination and when you stall don't ever give up.

Went To See The Therapist, Need Some Info
cheryl2586 replied to knknosmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well you should know what foods you can or cant eat after surgery. Your nutritionist should have given you this information. The band does not work if people do not follow their diet. But there are cases about 10% of people who do not lose weight from the band. The band helps about 10% with weight loss and the other 90 is up to you. If you do not follow the diet and return to your old habits you will not lose weight. As far as the risk go your doctor should have explained that to you also. But the basics are blood clots, pneumonia, infection and yes even death which only happens in rare cases. I think that you should for your own knowledge should research these questions or ask your doctor. It is very important for you to know what you cant eat after surgery and definitely what the risks could be. Good luck. -
How Long Until You Saw A Difference?
cheryl2586 replied to Igoback's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would say around the 30 or 40lb mark but even then it didnt seem like a lot because I was still over 200lbs. Now that I am 183 and still losing and it has taken me three years to get to this place, I still feel overweight. One day you will look in the mirror and be like omg. -
I would say no. If your going that long without eating then you are fine. I am three years banded and I still get hungry. I don't understand the concept that lap band patients have that they won't ever get hungry. Hunger no matter what weight loss surgery you have is the bodies natural response to needing food.
