Can you call them. This is important.

We all know from here on out the holidays are fast approaching starting with the evil candy day of Halloween but I want to reflect what I have learned about the holidays. It's not about food anymore but spending quality time with the ones you love and cherish forever in your heart. It's about loving yourself and loving others and respecting your body now that you have a band or are getting banded. It's not a time to feel down because you're not eating a whole turkey dinner by your self and hoarding left over pie so no one else will get some. It's about not regaining what you have worked so hard to lose. It's not impossible to get through without gaining but losing. It's time to rethink your strategies of how you will cope now until the first of the year with your band. Don't let old habits come in to your mind. There will be a lot of temptation at work, home, friends homes, but saying no is not punishable by law. Saying no will not hurt you. Saying no will help you. Learning that the word no thank you can be the best words you will ever say in your life. To all of us having the will to survive and living through the holidays with the best attitudes that I will not let food defeat me this year or ever again. You can enjoy the holidays without dwelling on food.

Well if it desolves completely and it is not at risk of swelling once it gets in your stomach. I would ask your doctor but I wouldn't do it.

Well don't be hard on yourself. That's what happens when you don't eat that stuff anymore. It really makes you think how crappy you felt when you were eating it all the time at least I know I did.

cheryl2586 replied to lousianalady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well to be honest granola is fattening as a hog on a bon fire. Check out the fat content on granola. -
Then you should be fine. But after the surgery and you lose weight just know your flood gates will open again ah ha ha

I would call them first to see if they pay for any bariatric surgeries. I have BC/BS of Texas they do not. Thankfully I had different insurance at the time I had mine done. Just call them they will tell you up front so you know ahead of time.

It's the beginning of the Holidays from now til the first of the year. We have to stay strong even though everything is in our faces. It's hard but we can do this. Here is to the first of the year and no weight gain. -
Why Greek Yogurt?
cheryl2586 replied to lousianalady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Dannon Light and fit is only 80 calories. 30 grams of sugar per day is allowed and 40 of fat. If I only eat one greek yogurt with 15 grams of sugar I am only eating half of the allowed daily requirements from the FDA. -
Your port can hurt for a few months. That is normal. When you bend it has four corners sort of and sometimes it sticks in to you. I still sometimes feel it when I bend over. The reason why this part hurts so much is they sew it in to the muscle that was cut during surgery. It will hurt longer then any other incision.

Ha ha ha I like it Happy Halloween to you too

Lap Band Surgery On The 29Th...in Terrible Pain!!
cheryl2586 replied to Iruthie20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to walk around no matter how much it hurts. It your doctor is telling you this is normal then you have to get moving. Yes you can take gas x and if you just had surgery don't worry about going to the bathroom you havent eaten anything. I just think you have no tolerance for pain and that it will get better. You're only 2 days post op. But you have to get moving pain or not. -
Didn't you buy food before the storm? I'm just asking. Why can't you find anything to eat even if it is fast food they do have lower calorie options.

You have to understand that when you fall back to your old ways that you will gain weight. We all LOVE food. We all are addicts. You have to grab this by the horns and never look back. I keep a picture of me at all times that I can relate to if I am having a moment. When I was at my highest weight. It keeps me from ever wanting sweets or junk food. I don't eat it, don't want it. I can not trust myself to have one piece of candy or I will eat it all. I am not giving out Halloween candy just for that reason. Why torture myself over that. I will go to the mall while its going on. I know that sugar is my down fall and can never it it again. People think I deprive myself but for me it's not depriving its what I have to do to keep it under control. I could very well eat what every I want but I don't because I personally know myself and do not want to go back to my evil ways. You have to want this and want it bad. Pick yourself off, dust yourself off and get back on the wagon. -
Well I can tell you that you shouldnt be eating bread right now. Its not considered a mushy. We all feel lousy when we don't lose. Stop weighing yourself everyday. Weight loss is going to stall. It's inevitable. It will happen even to the best dieter. Mushies should be protein not starchy carbs. I know a lot of people eat mashed potatoes on mushies but I don't push that. It's not a point of stopping when you feel full its a point of stopping when you feel satisfied. You have to look at that in a different way now. For now give up the carbs and concentrate on protein. If you have to eat carbs then try Quaker weight control oatmeal. Its sugar free and has 7 grams of protein. Eat eggs and I wouldnt eat salads (chicken and tuna) even with reduced fat mayo. You are trying to get your body in ketosis which is the only way you are going to burn fat. Dannon light and fit greek yogurt has no fat and 14 grams of protein. You have to decide do you want bread or do you want to burn. I personally want to burn my fat not hold on to it.

Does Anyone Feel Like They Eat The Same Things In Excess
cheryl2586 replied to goingfoit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat greek yogurt for breakfast or a protein bar. The pure protein are about 180 to 200 calories but they have sugar alcohols that can cause stomach upset and gas. I limit those to about 1 a week. I eat tuna, boca burgers, black bean burgers, cottage cheese, low sodium V-8 because I dont always eat my veggies, I make black bean casserole. Edamame with sea salt, sometimes but rarely chicken salad and I do not do low fat or fat free anything because the amount of fat I eat in a day is not too much. I also buy any of the pic sweet veggies in the single serving size. Protein shakes I am done with. I don't think at a certain point you should still drink them. It is liquid calories and they do not keep you full. I eat eggs for breakfast too with a small amount of ketchup to help them go down. I hardly eat any meat because it doesnt like me. There are many things you can eat you have to try them. I thought I would never eat tofu but I love it. Sauteed in cabbage it is so good with lots of different seasoning such as dill, seasoning salt, cracked pepper. Packed with protein and taste like whatever you cook it with. -
First of all for you being 53 years old, who are you to demand answers from anyone and I really don't care who you are. It's apparent that you are very angry and cursing at me or anyone else in this forum is wrong. Who said I am not at goal. I am 179 and my doctor and surgeon and myself are very happy with the weight I am now. Why because my ticker says I am still 19lbs away from goal? It's a ticker my dear and that is it. Yes I have been successful. I am at goal. If I lose more then fine if I dont that is fine too. Both surgeons that I have had both said over eating does cause band erosion when its tight and you push food in the pouch and it makes the stomach force its self in to the band. WE, I do not owe you anything or any answers but We/I do not need to be cursed at by an angry person who had their band removed. Find a band failure thread and join it. Oh and by the way you should really seek anger management because if you act this way to people you don't know, I can only imagine how you treat people you do know.

Profile Pictures Are Deceptive To Me.
cheryl2586 replied to meyouus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I can say that most of the pics I have tried to upload will not. I dont like my body right now even though I am 179 I have an apron and I dont like it and don't want to show it off. Even with a long shirt on I hate taking pics. I think its everyones decision what pics they want to put on their profile and what they don't. Just like you have a dog I'm not comfortable with. Why are you afraid to put your own pic on their too. -
Stressing Out Over A Weight Gain!!
cheryl2586 replied to Nayelli Q.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My weight fluctuates almost up to five pounds on any given day. It is determined by what I ate that day and how much water weight I am holding on too. I do not get upset about that. If I eat say edamame with sea salt the salt will make me retain water. Sometimes even though I drink a lot of water I don't pee as much until the next day then I am 6lbs lighter. You can't stress everytime the scale goes up. If you do then stop weighing yourself everyday. I weigh myself every day but know that if it goes up that I am okay with it. Its not like 10lbs of gained weight. Come on your going to sabotage yourself already. Losing weight depends on a lot of factors. Are you sleeping, pooping, peeing, all these things matter in weight loss. Stressing over 2lbs will not only stall your weight loss but will put you in a stalled mode. You cant stress every time you don't lose. There will be times when you don't lose for weeks. -
It helped me to warm up some apple juice and fruit punch and put a tea bag in it. They gave this to me at the hospital and called it toot juice. It helped heaps. It will get better but it might take a while. You have to walk.

Nutella is full of sugar and fat. I would rather eat a laughing cow cinnamon cheese spread for 45 calories then a spoonful of that crap. You definitely need to read labels. Just because its says nuts does not mean its protein.
