I'm three years out almost and still lose hair. I take biotin and it has helped some but not much. I think it all depends and trust me my hair is already thin lol so it makes me sad to see how much I really lose.

I never had bandages just steri strips. Let them fall off themselves though.

Should I Or Shouldn't I?
cheryl2586 replied to dublinbandgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Basically the ultimate decision is yours and yours alone. Go with a small goal of ten pounds. The key to successful weight loss is not to stop when you see the scale stopping. Even with the band we go through periods of weight stalling and it can be discouraging and making you want to give up. You have to get your mind in sinc first. The band will not stop you from eating if you truly want to eat because unlike the other surgeries you still have the rest of your stomach and with slower eating you can still consume a large amount of food at one sitting. It won't get rid of your cravings, it won't make you not want to eat if you have head hunger. The thing is you have to want it and want it bad too with the band. If I would have only had 50lbs to lose and were as tall as you, I would consult a nutritionist and try to lose it on my own first. The food being around at your job has to become sickening to you so you won't want it. I don't know what to tell you honestly. I think weight loss is hard no matter what your decision is. But good luck on whatever you decide. -

You look great and I love those shoes -
4 cc's is agressive and I would not go for more then 1.5. You have to remember your stomach will swell after a fill. 4cc's plus swelling could equal trouble. I don't like doctors that take that approach. Go slow so you will be okay.

Not Feeling Full Like I Should
cheryl2586 replied to Ibsweet1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're not eating to get full, You're eating to be satisfied that is a big difference. -
I wouldnt be so quick to want those kind of carbs yet. Bread isnt an option for me at all. I dont miss it. I use other things like wraps or tortillas to make wraps out of.
-
I have used gummys mal absorption only is in by pass patients. They melt pretty quickly and wont stay in the pouch any length of time. They were easier for me then most of the other vitamins.

No one wants to be hungry all the time but that is short lived. There are many things you can eat at this stage without just eating apple sauce. What about some soft tuna salad, or sugar free pudding, you need to eat protein items to keep you full. Refried beans or black beans cooked with some seasoning. The possibilties are endless.
-
Why are you eating baby food? What is wrong with yogurt, anything healthy in a blender with some good chicken or beef stock. You can not be successful if you can't make food taste good. I can't believe your doctors didnt give you a list of foods that you can eat. Did you see a nutritionist? Have you consulted them since surgery? Don't go on your own indulgences because you're hungry. No one had died from hunger from the band. You will soon enough be able to eat food. If you dont let your stomach heal you can cause your band to slip.

Liquid Protein Opinions Needed!

I dont like muscle milk either. I like EAS carb control chocolate. It's probably the best I have tasted. -
Well my feeling is this. The band doesnt work if you dont work the band and if you have only lost 20lbs in 5 years then I am thinking you are not working with your band. I don't think you are seeing your surgeon either because he would have given you insight in five years I am more then sure. People who fail are generally those who do not follow up, seek support, or follow the bands diet or life style change. There is no way if you are doing everything right that your body won't give in and shed the pounds.

Well I am three years out 178lbs and I still feel fat. If my stomach would vanish mysteriously I would be happier. I think we will always feel we are fat. I dont agree you need therapy because really if we let go of the band the result would be weight gain again. I feel I am in control but I think I will always feel fat.

Your Last Supper......
cheryl2586 replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lasagne from Carrabas my favorite restuarant. But it was the night before surgery and I was really too nervous to eat. I ate about half and knew I couldnt take the rest home so I had them throw it away. But looking back now I dont regret doing this one bit. -
Good for you. Congrats are in order here for real

I tell a lot of people especially if they are obese a lot of them have looked in to having surgery because I have been so successful.

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!
cheryl2586 replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm thinking the no milk is because it has so much sugar even skim milk has sugar. When I was doing the ideal protein we couldnt have milk either it was because of the sugar. I always have done high carb low carb days never no carbs ever. It does work. -
Well the only thing I can say is that I do not feel I'm depriving myself from the crap that restuarants serve and the high calorie high fat content of even their salads. I have long learned that these things are not deprivation but killing the public. I do not patron restuarants anymore. I don't deprived myself either because I cook very well and to my satisfaction. I think that everyone has to find their own nitch and mine is not eating the unhealthy crap that they serve. Even if you think they have healthier choices they are not. They are loaded with hidden fats and calories even the salads so I will eat my own food and love it. I don't need that crap anymore to live in my body. But that is just me.

Some days I eat a lot and some days I eat a little. I am maintaining now but the days I eat a lot and Im talking like 2,000 calories but maybe 1500 I do not gain because most of the time Im eating 1,000 or 800 it all depends on what stage you are in. I feel comfortable eating more somedays then others and the scale is telling me its ok. But if your in the beginnings then no I would try to control what you're eating.

Keep it going mama you're doing fabulous -
I agree cut out the shakes why waste calories on shakes and just stop eating at a cup of food no matter what.
-
Why go to great lengths to have surgery and sabotage yourself with chocolate. Do you want this or not? Stop eating candy that is why we all were over weight. You are defeating the whole purpose if you continue to go on the path you are on.

http://www.examiner.com/article/for-the-love-of-anastasia Here you can find the pic and story of my iguana Anastasia. I am an advid advocate for animals. I have rescued three cats, an iguana, a mouse and a hampster. Anastasia is my heart. This is her pic wearing a bow and posing like the princess she is. Just a fun thread. What pets do you own or what pets own you? LOL

I have a zoo too. We have three cats, iguana, two snakes, a hampster and a mouse and four fish tanks but my iggy is my favorite of all. She lays with the cats when I put her on my bed. Just as sweet as she can be. I took her to the vet the other day because we are having a cold snap and she wasnt eating but the vet said she is the most well taken care of iguana she has ever seen. She is about 3 times smaller then she should be for her age because she had a calcium deficiency that stunted her growth so she probably will never be big like some get. We dont let her roam in the house but I do put her on her dog pillow on my bed sometimes just for her to get a change. Iguanas are quite nice pets if you tame them. Mine has never tried to bite me or tail whip me however my baby cat did get the wrath of her tail one night when she was just sniffing her. LOL they are fun for sure.
