Yes I agree Floridadays. It is just time. It's no different then spending 20 years at a job, or 18 years raising kids, or being married for 50 years. It's just time and we all have plenty of it. The thing that keeps me going is that if I had not done it I wouldn't have that precious time that I have now. I know I did right by taking 3 years out of my life to get healthy. It was a good investment for sure.

I agree with the above posters. If your food and calorie intake are lower your body has no choice but to lose weight. It cant hold on to fat if your not over eating.

Lingual Pneumonia because of restriction?
cheryl2586 replied to Debbie Davy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Stressing over gaining weight will make you gain weight. I wouldnt weigh too heavily on the fact that you had an unfill. Continue to eat what you were eating pre unfill and you should be fine. That is one of the problems with tight bands that it can cause very bad problems. Your health is more important then having an unfill. I wouldnt let that be the factor in causing me stress about gaining weight. You can maintain with no fill if you really want it. I hope you feel better soon. -
Anything with artificial sweeteners will make you crave sugar. I use to hate to drink plain water but it wasnt worth the risk since I am a sugar addict. Try adding chromium and b complex it will take the edge off the sugar cravings for sure.

I'm Hungry, or something like it.
cheryl2586 commented on Gerhowzel's blog entry in Gerhowzel's Blog
You need to eat major protein in the morning. I would leave the fruit alone for a couple of months. -
Well you may not be too tight but just need to relearn eating. Some people have extra sensitive stomachs after a fill and have swelling which last for a while. You can either wait it out or go get an unfill.

Sometimes after surgery you get surgical depression which may be happening and the unadded support from your family only heightens what you are feeling. I would talk to him and tell him how you're feeling and would appreciate a little support from him. It's not fair when women are always there for the ones we love and then when you need them they all but disappear. I would certainly talk to him and let him know just how you feel about his actions. Men can be real insensitive to our feelings.

10 days post op

If you had your incisions glued I would maybe only take an end one off to see if its together. Other then that I would just let them fall off by themselves because pulling them can rip your incision open. -
That would be entirely up to your doctor. I wouldnt push it until he says ok. At 2 and a half weeks I was only walking and nothing else.

New, with a Question
cheryl2586 replied to HolleyJane's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would not compare the lapband to major abdominal surgery. Yes there is pain but its mostly gas pain. My incisions were numb so I was fine by the second week. Depending on your job unless you have a desk job I dont think 6 days is enough time to recover though. -
how is this even possible
cheryl2586 replied to banded121512's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sugar and salt will make you retain fluid. Drink lots of water and you still have swelling -
I agree. I hate when people squeeze in to clothes that don't fit them. Its really ugly and makes you look unkept I agree. I still wear long shirts even in a 14 because of my belly.

You suck down air and it causes more pain. I only use a straw once in a great while. One time with that pain was enough.

I just had mine out two weeks ago. No problems and no I have not gained any weight.

Most people when dieting want to do everything fat free but I do not. Our bodies need healthy fats in order to funciton properly. I buy full fat mayo made with olive oil not the crappy mayo. I also use full fat salad dressings but only a small amount and yes I use real butter. Fat free, well it does not taste good either at least to me. If I am eating a lot of salads I will buy the Walden Farms Italian which is calorie free, fat free and sugar free. I will use the Chipolte Ranch and Italian and the Balsamic Vinegar which all taste good to me. Some of their dressings are really blucky because how can anything taste good with no calories or fat in it. I try to keep my fat intake to a minimum of 35 to 40 grams a day though. Your body craves fat and when you do eat it, it helps with keeping you satisfied. Yes I do eat a piece of bacon once in a while with eggs. I also on occasion take a teaspoon of olive oil, which doesnt taste so great but it does help getting in good fats and helps with hair and nails also. The benefits of olive oil are endless. I don't believe in a fat free diet intake. We need good fats just like we need good carbs and large amounts of proteins for our bodies to work properly.

White meat vs Dark meat?
cheryl2586 replied to Rebecca Cain Salpacka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Chicken is an absolute no no for my band. Its stringy and hard to eat for me. I really do not eat meat so much since being in the green zone. It just doesnt work. -
We picked up our new iguana yesterday BJ. My husband and I love rescuing mistreated animals and reptiles. Nice addition to our family and he is just a baby but was living in aweful conditions. One less reptile to suffer in the world

Well if you're drinking while eating you are defeating the whole purpose of the band and that is why you are not staying full because you are washing all the food out of your pouch. Eat slower and always all of your protein first. If you stop eating carbs and I'm talking starchy carbs you will not want them anymore. I only eat vegetables for my carbs and once in a while fruit. Other then that I eat nothing that is a starch ever.
-
I dont find one thing about the band a short cut. It is a helpful tool to help you eat less and nothing more then that. There is nothing easy that I have found about the band life other then it changed my whole out look on the way I eat and how much I eat. You have to understand that being banded is no more easier then doing any other diet except that it helps you adapt to a healthier life style. The weight loss after a period is slow (which we all have hated) but its a healthy weight loss. Its not a short cut but a very hard decision for any one person to make.

3 months out and 50lbs down but not stuck

Plateus always happen even to the best dieters. Just keep doing what you're doing it will start again. -
I'm not alone, am I?
cheryl2586 replied to Sunshineteach79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is quite a drastic decision and I am sure everyone here would agree it was a last resort for all of us. I look back then and now I hate junk/fast food. I hate every kind of food that I used to love that is filled with fat and sugar and was killing me. You have to want this and want it badly. It's not always easy nor is it quick. I love my band and what it has made me. I am healthy and very happy. I would do it again in a heart beat. -
I would also wait until the stitches are out and the incisions are healed. I have a product from our dermatologist that is called Kelo Coat. Its for keloid scars but I put it on my incisions from my gallbladder surgery just a week ago and its almost gone now. Its expensive though about 50 dollars a tube but worth the scar disappearing. My scars from the lapband are gone.

Protein will also constipate you. I take peri colace every single night and have no issues at all. -

Girl when I get a fill I stay swollen up to three weeks. Yes you can still be swollen. Some people just have very sensitive stomachs as I do. Yeah it's a little hellish but I deal with it and just try to eat very little and at that time only I rely on protein shakes to get me through. -

Well if you don't want to get fluid out, you can wait it out to see if your band loosens. Creamer should not be an issue for coffee as it does not add any bulk to the coffee. Try to eat very very small amounts. As you lose the band will loosen or maybe you have swelling also from the fill.
