Really? Just when I thought I could get back on track!
cheryl2586 replied to laurigee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You will do fine. Just because you are having surgery doesnt mean you cant stay on track with your band. When they do the hemmrhoid surgery you probably wont want to eat for fear of pooping lol so that should make you lose a few pounds. Just take one day at a time and you will do it but don't resort back to eating because you are having a rough time. -
We all were hungry. You will survive. Its only a short amount of time out of your life that you have to be hungry. Enjoy hunger because you probably havent felt that feeling in years. I agree with the sugary drinks get rid of them.

Sweet baby Jesus where did 50 years go? Here I am 50 today and I never thought I would make it this far. I feel great. My husband woke me up at 2 a.m. with a cake singing happy birthday. Ha I can't eat cake but oh well the roses tasted good at 2a.m. I feel good, looking great and the best is yet to come. Now if the time would slow down so I can do everything I want. You see this journey has been a great one and has given me my life back in a great way. Happy 5oth birthday to me and looking forward to being the healthiest middle age person ever. AARP was waiting in the mail for me but I dont feel that old yet. It is for old people isnt it lol. I did it/still doing it and hope everyone else succeeds in their journey. Breakfast in bed, a Vera Bradley purse and Bahama Breeze for dinner and yes I am drinking a Mohito with extra rum. You only turn 50 0nce. I'm making the best of it.

Even after three years I am still losing weight. Its been slow but a loss is a loss no matter how much it is. Even if it's an ounce its a loss. Today I went in to discuss my labs with my doctor and not one number was out of whack. Cholesterol and triglycerides normal. Vitamin levels all normal. I have never had normal tryglycerides which is what is harmful in Cholesterol. I lost two more pounds since last week. My next goal is to be to 150 by summer time and I will get there. Five pounds a month will do it. I love my life with my band and I enjoy traveling with my husband now more then ever because I can walk without getting tired or hurting, enjoy going out with friends for the company not the food. You can do this. You can succeed you just have to want it. I rarely eat meat but today I had a good old juicy hamburger and it was so good. I don't eat junk like that ever but I needed something in that beef. I sleep well at night and wake up feeling good. I eat real food and don't rely on protein shakes. I may get a fill next month because I havent had one in a year but that is undetermined right now because I still feel I have control. My doctor congratulated me for not gaining weight but losing over the holidays. I don't dwell on food anymore but am looking forward to eating some cake for my 50th birthday Saturday even if it is just the icing. I dont obsess over a pound up or a pound down because our bodies flucutate weight throughout the day. I am healthy and happy and could not have made it thus far without my band. 50 years has gone way too fast but hopefully the next 50 will slow down because I have so much left to do.

I eat eggs most days but I need ketchup on them to go down. But I love my eggs. It wont happen if they are plain. You might want to try over easy also.

3 weeks and first fill now what to eat
cheryl2586 replied to Hersheyskiss21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Didnt your doctor give you a list of foods to eat once you were off liquids? So many possibilities. -
Do things that have nothing to do with weight loss. Things that don't involve food. Watch a good movie, read a good book, go walk the mall, go to the movies, there is so much you can do to not think about food.

If you can pinch your skin on your arm and it stays pinched for a few minutes afterwards then you are dehydrated if not then you are not. You probably just feel that way. If you drank that many fluids today you would not be dehydrated. Dont drink broth if you are feeling that way as it is full of salt. Drink gatorade and water.

Quaker oats weight control oatmeal takes a minute in the microwave 7 grams of protein, greek yogurt, scrambled eggs, you have to make time to eat. Get up earlier.
-
I live in Jacksonville would be glad to help you.

Stop the protein shakes and eat food. Liquid calories do not keep you full nor is it healthy this long after surgery to still be using protein shakes. Start by having a real breakfast even if its greek yogurt and a real lunch and real dinner.

how long after the lap bang surgery can you start back having sex?
cheryl2586 replied to zburdeshaw's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think that would be up to your doctor -
3 weeks with no weight loss is not considered a plateu. Between 6 and 8 weeks with no weight loss then you can consider yourself in a plateu. You will not lose weight every single week after a certain amount is lost. As you lose your body slows down and you have to burn more calories then you are taking in.

THE THIRD TIME IS NO CHARM!!
cheryl2586 replied to charmingchuck's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No one is being mean but I am sorry if you had two lapbands and gastric bypass and only lost 20lbs it was not the surgery. It was you. There are many of us that have been successful and some with complications and have still been successful and yes they do hernia repair at the same time as the band. As far as the bypass there is no reason to not lose weight unless you are just eating what you want. You may gain it back after a year but no reason what so ever to not lose weight with the bypass. No need to be down on weight loss surgery because so many have succeeded at this journey -
Of course you will be hungry but this is the time for self control. Its only a month out of your life. You can do it.

Help! I dont know the next step
cheryl2586 replied to Mozzy562's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your doctor should explain step by step what you need to do. Call them and ask. Every insurance company is different as far as what they want. -
Im starting to freak out
cheryl2586 replied to wozzicat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Look how many people on here have been a success. Failure only happens with the band if you allow it. If you do as you are supposed to there is no need to fail. People that fail do not follow the rules. You have to lose your relationship with food. There is so much more to life then food. Look at the long term and how much you will gain when you lose weight. You will be comfortable in your own skin, wont fear being made fun of and feel so much healthier. -
You probably irritated it and now are a bit swollen. But call your doctor.
-
I doubt insurance will pay for it because its cosmetic and most will not pay for cosmetic procedures.

I Should have NEVER said anything
cheryl2586 replied to JhonnieB's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well I have been banded for three years now and I have been quite a success. Anyone can be a success with the band if they do what they are told. Even maintaining is easier then I thought. I still want to get down to 150 by summer but if I dont I am happy as a clam that didnt get eaten lol -
And your protein intake should be between 70 to 90 grams per day not 60. 120 if you can get it.
-
You still are eating too much food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner and two snacks plus muscle milk. That is too much food. Again you dont need the muscle milk and especially at night time. Its just liquid calories that do not fill you up. Yoga is not extreme exercise that you need that after a work out but even the muscle milk light has sugar. If you are going to opt for a protein drink you need one like EAS that has less then 1 gram of sugar.
