Best product to reduce scars?
cheryl2586 replied to Blondie638's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You cant even see my scars and I put nothing on them. Those over the counter products really don't work and a waste of money. You would be better off going to a dermatologist and getting something if they don't go away on their own. My husband gets Kelo-Kote for his scars its expensive about 47 dollars a tube but it works and you only need a little bit. -
Quinoa and couscous are doable for me. They also have more protein then most pasta's do. I make black bean casserole with couscous or with Quinoa and it is delish.

2days post op and feeling full?
cheryl2586 replied to dolphintattoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are still pretty swollen. It will take a few weeks for the swelling to go down. Then you will be HUNGRY LOL -
What makes you think that most people eventually have to have their bands removed? Only 4% of lapband patients end up with band removal because of erosion or slippage. Unless something is wrong with your band you won't necessarily have to have it removed.

Psych and Nutrition Appointments on Tuesday
cheryl2586 replied to ShannaS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I have nothing to offer about the psych eval because the psychiatrist that did mine worked at my hospital he basically asked me have I ever been abused, molested, do I understand the consequences of not following my instructions it was less then 10 minutes he signed my paper and off I went. The nutritionist we had to meet with every month for six months and she taught us what to eat and how much which I pretty much already knew what to eat just not the amount. Thats all I can offer right now. You will do fine. -
Maybe you pulled the muscle and didn't realize it. Sometimes mine still hurts after three years. I suppose the muscle doesn't like having some foreign object sewn in to it so at times wants to give you a little hell.

Out of many thousands of members that are part of this community I do not believe that any one of you know me personally, have been my best friend, my family, my children, or my coworkers. I am sick and tired of those of you who think the things I say, are because I am mean. No one has the right to tell me to apologize to anyone. When I answer any post I am not saying it mean but that is the whole darn point. When two people read a book or even a stupid three word sentence neither one will interpret that book or sentence in the same manner. I have been in the medical field for 30 years. I have never had a patient, coworker, boss, best friend say that I am mean or complain about me and you know why???? Because I am not. I am not a coddler or tell you what you want to hear type of person. I tell the truth. I am not a class act but a very bright intelligent woman. I have two degrees in healthcare administration, have published 6 books, taught child birth education, parenting. I have worked as a case manager for pregnant women, taught nutrition classes for pregnant lap band patients. I have worked everywhere from surgery to med surg, oncology and telemetry. I dont think that if I was mean I would still have a job in the health care field. I think the problem does not lie within me but those of you who feel that I am mean or so you say. When I post something that you dont like and you ream me out, then are you any better. Then you get your few 3 friends you have on here to do the same thing. None of this is about me but about your own insecurities that you feel the need to jump all over me because you feel some kind of way about yourself. Like I said earlier look in your own mirror because the problem lies within you not me. I won't lose sleep tonight because you think I am mean. I won't have any less friends in my real life because of a handful of people who think they know what I am thinking at all times. I can imagine it would be sad that you are thinking I hate her when you don't even know me. That is why people end up having such a lonely life because they think too much about how other people are when in all reality what you are thinking is farther from the truth. If you are obese like we all are and I say the word obese then forgive me for using the proper medical terms instead of saying you are fat. I just do not get it how any of you can assume anything about me. You are reading words that are typed. You don't know what I was thinking or feeling when I typed it. You don't know anything about me. You just assume. So before you judge me and my character look at yourself and figure out what it is that makes you so upset with what I say. It's you not me. I don't take offense to anything anyone writes on here you know why? Because I do not know one single person that comes here. I don't live with them, don't sleep with them, or even know where most of you live. So before any of you tell me I am mean, please look at yourself and figure out what it is that is wrong with you. I don't have a mean bone in my body but truthfull yes I can be called that. So let me tell you who I am. I am a 50 year old happily married woman with two sons and two grand daughters. I am loved by my family, friends, coworkers and my patients oh and let me not forget my animals. I am well respected by a ton of people. On my days off I teach nutrition for lapband patients in different surgeons offices here where I live. Yes I teach nutrition classes. Imagine that I know what I am talking about. I think I have enough knowledge to give people advice and unless that person is complaining about me being mean then why should you. When you know me personally then you can say what you want but until then, don't judge me. If I was not answering to your post then why are you getting offended? Must have a guilty conscience.

I only eat slower I dont put my fork down. I just make sure my food is chewed and it has went down. I cant say that I time myself in between bites because I dont. If I feel like it went down then I take another bite.

Unfortunately your stomach is the last to go. You lose weight from the top down. If you have always had a big belly and Im not saying that you do, it will probably be the last thing to go on you.

You have to change up your eating. You cant eat the same things day after day. Change up your diet a little it might help.

Diet Help. Getting banded in March.
cheryl2586 replied to MileHighDreamer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was on clear liquids for two weeks, full liquids for a week, mushies for two weeks then real food. I eat high protein low carb with vegetables and fruit being my only carbs that I eat. This is just my way of eating. I also do not eat meat because it does not agree with my band so I substitute my protein with veggie burgers, tofu, cottage cheese, greek yogurt and beans. -
You don't want to lose weight quickly. The whole point of the band is to keep the weight off and the only way to do this is to lose it slow. We all want fast weight loss but in all reality if you lose it fast you will gain it back. Slow and steady wins the race.

Eating and drinking at the same time
cheryl2586 replied to Flowering man's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The problem with this is that you get fuller with fluids and are not getting enough food to feel satisified. I have not ate and drank at the same time for three years and I will continue. You will just end up being hungry more if you fill up on fluids with your band. Just my opinion. -
tight band days????!!
cheryl2586 replied to DebbieC1970's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes some days I can hardly eat and other days its like an open resevoir. Its just a finicky thing. -

You're looking fabulous -
I would really hate to think I was being paid a service and the person paying me did not take my knowledge that I went to medical school for 12 years enough that they would have to get help on a website for medical issues. I can not believe that people really refuse to call their doctors after surgery. They are getting paid to take care of you and a pretty penny I might add. Issues regarding pain, swelling, chest pain, can't eat or drink, throwing up, leg pain, what you should be eating are all questions that your surgeon should be answering. They are getting paid 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If you are having chest pain dont post it here, get your butt to the er. If you are vomiting and cant stop, feel dehydrated, cant keep food down, have leg pain or any kind of unnormal pain then call your doctors. I dont know why you all are scared of them. I have my doctors personal cell phone that I can call anytime I am having an issue and he will answer every single time. We are not medical professionals and posting here when you are having chest pain you could have been to the ER or dead by the time you"re done typing it. Stop playing with your lives and your bands. Call your surgeons if you are having these issues. What really are you afraid of? That you're bothering them? Well bother them they make 4 times the amount that most of us make a year for a service. A service they chose to have.

Did I say anywhere in my post that I made this. I was passing it on and that was it. Why dont you please go have your vertical sleeve done and quit bothering everyone in this forum including me. If you would spend half as much time taking care of you and stop trying to prove me wrong you would be a lot better off. I never said I made this Ms Maui or whom ever you are I said it was a great idea. Please stop quoting all my post. You are only making yourself look bad. What are you gaining. I could care less if you posted this to pinterest. Isnt the whole idea of the nutrition to post tips that we all could use. Such a piece of work. -
The iggy is fine. Still waiting for her to lay her eggs.

cheryl2586 replied to cullychick's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dont let his mother get to you. It's none of her business. It's not like you have to answer to her. This is your decision and believe me you will be happy you did. Good luck on your journey.
