After the first year, your body has adjusted to your day to day life style. Exercising like crazy will not make you lose weight. You have to keep your body guessing at all times in order to keep losing weight. Go to 1,000 calories and rest a day in between exercise. If you do cardio first, then do it last. If you are eating the same things over and over again, try new things. If you don't keep your body guessing then your weight will stall for a long time.

Why are you taking Iron? If you are not anemic you don't need iron. You need to call your surgeon you are probably be too tight.

I met my husband on line about six months post op. It has been a great 4 years. We just bought a house last july and everything is great. Yes you have to weed through a bunch of bull shitters but you will find the right one when the time is right.

Is This The Healthiest You've Ever Been?
cheryl2586 replied to jamilyne 102668's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was not unhealthy when I was obese. I had no blood pressure problems or diabetes, my cholesterol was normal, I had no sleep apnea or high blood pressure. My gastro recommended the lapband because I had uncontrollable acid reflux. I had bile backing up in my stomach. I was not a miserable fat person but the weight loss was just a plus. I was never in pain but I have pain now from fibromyalgia and osteo arthritis so no I did not feel any different when I was obese. I have to believe that there are those of us in this world that will never exercise and those that feel the need to do it constantly. Once my pool is open for the summer I will use it daily. Other then having to wear smaller clothes I was not unhealthy as an obese person. -
advice wanted: calorie counts and losing last pounds
cheryl2586 replied to much2gain's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I went below goal but I was eating very high Protein and only 4 cups of veggies a day with no other carbs, fruit or dairy. The only way you are going to achieve your goal is to pull out all the stops. Let go of the carbs completely except for vegetables and NO fruit either. I also never went above 1,000 calories on any given day and I never exercised one bit while losing weight. Your body gets used to the same thing day in and day out and most people tend to eat the same foods every single day or at least every single week. I never eat the same thing in a 3 week period because your body gets used to the same thing over and over. Give up the Protein Bars and shakes and eat what meat, eggs and cottage cheese you can consume. Its the only way it will come off and give yourself a rest day in between your exercise. Your body gets used to the everyday gym and you are just maintaining. If you want to lose the other 20lbs do what I said and it will come off. If you can eat beef consume all you can it takes longer to digest therefore making you burn more calories. -
Hi all, newbie here.

You cant worry about what your husband wont eat. You need to be healthy to raise your daughter and setting good healthy habits in to her now will make her not an obese child. Do what you need to do. You don't have to be rich to have nutritious food in your house. -
Well of course you can exercise every day and if you don't eat right you will have a heart issue. There are many physically fit people that end up having strokes, heart attacks and other diseases because they think because they exercise they are doing themselves justice when they eat crappy.

I quit smoking after 90lbs but I gained 20lbs and then I started losing again and lost 50lbs. The association of the hand to mouth thing is really the issue. If you really want to quit smoking and not eat, buy and electronic cigarette. That will keep you away from food but just know when you stop smoking your metabolism will slow down but the benefits of not smoking are so great.

5 days pre-op weight loss
cheryl2586 replied to ddsweighin228's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. If you already feel disappointed you will be more so after surgery because you can not bank on steady weight loss every single month. It doesn't happen for most people. A loss is a loss no matter how you lose it. Get positive there will be many moments of disappointment with weight loss surgery. You have to learn to deal with it. -
One month banded and my port flipped
cheryl2586 replied to fatty2hottie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Many have port flips after surgery. Don't worry they will fix it and tell him to give you a fill while he is in there. -
I like making egg frittatas. You can put anything in them you want, put in a muffin pan and bake until slightly firm. Makes a great snack.

Lap band removal or revision
cheryl2586 replied to bonjovigirl's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Most surgeons will make you wait at least four months for a revision. They usually do not do it at the same time they remove the band. -
That is the whole reason people need to not be too tight. When you are too tight it forces the band into the stomach tissue and causes erosion.

I don't think anyone thinks that any weight loss surgery doesn't come with some complications. I am sorry you had to go through this. I hope you are well on to recovery real soon.

It is true that we need animal Proteins for B-12 Vitamins, however there are many other proteins that you can eat besides meat. I have been B-12 deficient because I do not eat meat but I was on a short term regimen of B-12 shots which can't hurt anyone and now I take sublingual ones. Other then that as we get older our need for meat becomes less.

I am a vegan and four years post op. I have done well. You don't have to consume animal Proteins to get healthy from the band. Mostly all the things that vegans eat are no different with the band. What do you normally eat that you feel you would have an issue with. The band does not reroute anything so you will take in the same amount of nutrients as if you didn't have it. I just eat more frequently.

Back on the Band!
cheryl2586 replied to lisaluvsgreys's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You can have any kind of weight loss surgery you want but if you don't follow the rules and change your eating habits forever you will fail all three. You have to put forth effort with any weight loss surgery. The sleeve and by pass may give you faster weight loss but the faster you lose the more apt you are to put it back on. Only one thing to know and that is none of them will work if you don't work with them. -
The vegus nerve runs from the stomach to the head and the pressure on the band is supposed to stop hunger. It has never stopped my hunger but some people it does not.
-
If you are having bypass surgery you will have to take Vitamins the other ones do not disrupt your ability to take in nutrients. If you are not Vitamin deficient then you don't really need to take any because the only thing you are doing is paying for expensive pee. I would just wait and see what your doctor says. Mine never told me to take vitamins and I have never been vitamin deficient either.

Specific friend advice needed! Pic included
cheryl2586 replied to dreamscometrue's topic in Rants & Raves
I don't understand why her approval is important. If she willingly has said absolutely nothing about your weight loss maybe she feels it would be inappropriate to ask you. Just do what you are doing and ignore that fact that she has not said a word. Some people just don't like to butt in other peoples business especially when weight is concerned. Maybe she feels that if she says something you might get offended. I would stop fishing for compliments from her and when she is ready to say it then let her. I don't see the need to get other peoples approval of my body image and you shouldn't either. She may feel uncomfortable for saying anything to you about it because weight is such a touchy subject. -
Protien drink for breakfast
cheryl2586 replied to tw42's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You are definitely too tight. In no way should you still have Breakfast sitting in your band at lunch time. Your band starts to empty as soon as you eat so if yours is taking that long to empty then you are too tight. Some people the band never gets rid of hunger so if you keep getting fills because you're hungry I would say you may be one of those people that the band does not help with hunger. -
Not taking liquids is that ok?
cheryl2586 replied to Nat1234's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It doesn't matter if you have an appetite you need the fluids so you don't become dehydrated. Try to drink at least one oz of something every 15 minutes. -
Something is wrong there because the whole surgery doesn't even cost 12,000 and that is with the hospital stay so someone is busting your chops I would call the insurance company not the office and ask them if it is true.

Stop going through drive through's. You can only get there if you drive there. if you cant control going there then find a different way to drive back and forth where ever you are going. Being at goal should mean more then filling your body with the very poison that kept us in jail for all these years.
