I also would hope you would have someone with you. I dont think I could have drove 6 hours at one day post op. It would have taken me 18 hours to get home. lol but do stop and get out and walk a lot to prevent blood clots. That is important.

Looking at the numbers on the scale is never going to stop frustrating you. You have to go by how you feel, how your clothes fit, can you look in the mirror dressed and say yes that looks good. So many people want to see the number but what about your measurments. This month when I went to my doctor I lost no weight but three inches. I was so happy. You cant rely on a number to make you happy or you will drive yourself crazy.

Seriously Embarrassed !
cheryl2586 replied to Destined*Lady*D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I have broke my bed. Oiy vey that was horrible. Got up in the middle of the night and went to flop back down and the bed broke away from the head board and my ass was stuck and could not get up. I had to put darn cinder blocks under it so I could sleep on it. Now I dont have that problem anymore. I also stepped in a whole and broke my toe and fell at the toyota dealership and not one darn sales man saw me to come help me up. I was more pissed then embarrassed because they have no issue running all over you to sell a darn car. When I was big I have wretched my neck, fell on my ass I dont know how many times and broke a plastic lawn chair. OMG its funny now but was not then. -
I never gave my big clothes to good will or the salvation arm because I feel this way: We give them things for free and then they turn around and sell stuff for outrageous prices. Some of their clothes I could go to Ross and buy brand new ones for what thrift stores sell their clothes. I have a lot of nice dress clothes and I decided I would sell them on Ebay. In one day I made 80 bucks doing nothing more then sitting in my house placing things on ebay. Everytime I need to go down a size I just start listing the bigger items on ebay. Within a week I have enough money to buy a whole new ward drobe. Lets face it WLS and losing tons of weight is inevitable we all need new clothes. So why not make money off your good used clothing. I also am starting to buy things on clearance and sell them for full price. You would be surprised how many people will bid way over what you put the starting bid at. For instance: i put a pair of just my size jeans on ebay for $4.00 by the time they were done bidding I made $16.50. I think I only paid $7.00 for the jeans on clearance when I was wearing them. So I made enough to buy two more pair in my size now. There is money to be made folks. All you need is a paypal account to get paid with and they will send you a debit card to use if you want one. The first sales take a few weeks for ebay to give you the money but if you are a new seller they have to make sure your stuff is legit. So get to selling your old clothes and make some money for some new ones. I think I have found a new business to start. If I can find stuff on clearance for $2.00 at Ross no matter what size and sell it for full price I have made 150% profit. Use flat rate shipping, print your shipping labels off paypal, the will deduct if from your funds so no out of pocket expense for you. Go to the post office get a small box, tape the postage on and off it goes. Easy peasy. Now make some dough because who doesnt like to go shopping.

probably your blood sugar you might want to keep some hard candy around right now while you are on liquids but please do call your doctor -
Tofu takes on the flavor of anything you cook it with. I sautee it with some cabbage or you can season it with all types of seasoning and pan fry it with some pam. It doesnt taste bad like it used too.

No such thing as a stupid question?
cheryl2586 replied to Molly40.P's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We all have issues with controlling food but what do you want more? Staying where you are or getting healthy? What is more important? What will happen if you don't get the sugery? You will stay miserable and continue to do just what you are doing. Commit yourself to being the best you can be. -

4325 great job thats a lot of weight people -
Today while I was at work I honestly had to say to myself I am so thankful for my health. When you work in a hospital you think you have seen everything and then there is always something worse. The pain that people suffer, the drug addiction, alcoholism, patients with HIV, miserable infections that antibiotics wont cure, people trying to kill themselves, and the list goes on, I just have to think these aches and pains I have from being on my feet for 12 hours is nothing compared to how these people suffer daily. All the people in ICU on vents being kept alive by a machine. Some of these things just are not right. When you see these things from a medical perspective it really is an eye opener. I never in my life have seen family's who are so selfish to keep someone alive and make them suffer because they don't want to let go. Then they stand outside of ICU and argue about what the patient wants, when in fact it's not at all what the patient wants but what they want. The patients that get me the most are the elderly with dementia whose bodies work so well but their minds don't. It must really be pure hell to have a healthy body but you can't remember who your family is or where you are. I don't take life or my health for granted because it can be gone in a minute. One of my coworkers today had to leave work because her cousin was shot dead in her car because someone tried to car jack the car and she wouldnt open the door. A life gone in less then the time it takes to send a text. Life is hard and people are even harder. I am thankful today and always for everything I have. I will take my bad hip any day then suffer like others do. Take time to be thankful for everything in your life.

how am i supposed to consume 1500 calories a day?
cheryl2586 replied to angieband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You can also eat lunch meat, cheese, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, protein bars (but you have to watch the calories and the sugar) I use pure protein. 3 ounces of chicken will give you 22 grams of protein. Seems you need to eat every couple of hours instead of just three times a day. I still eat every couple hours and it works for me. Boiled eggs are another good one. If you cant eat the yolk eat the outside, I also use laughing cow cheese on some pretzel crisps, hummus, there are so many options. I use spark people only because they have good recipes and other things that are valuable to me. I have myfitnesspal but I dont use it. I hope I have given you some good ideas. Also if your still trying to lose the whole concept is to burn more calories then you consume. If you are not burning the calories through exercise then that many calories will not make you lose weight. -
I love my walk away the pounds tapes. The one mile is only 17 minutes and it gets you sweating for sure. They have the two, three, four and five mile as you advance. It really is a good work out.

No longer interested in food!!
cheryl2586 replied to bubbs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh dont worry you will get hungry again I can almost guarentee it lol -
Its best to practice even with pudding not to eat and drink at the same time. I have not in three years ate and drank with anything. Even if its pudding I wait 20 to 30 minutes after before I drink. Better to practice now so you will be ready when you are eating real food.

Social Stigma and Full Disclosure
cheryl2586 replied to Mellzbellz21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're right Jim people really do not know how hard this whole process is. The weight loss is a plus but it is work and no one realizes how much. We all loved to eat and sometimes even after three years I will put so much food on my plate and no I cant eat it but its that mentality that I will or getting food stuck and the aweful pain because you wait to long to eat then try to eat fast and it doesnt jive with you band. The weeks the scale doesnt move and you're like why bother anymore, the fact that we gave up things we loved for this entire journey because they dont work with the band. Its not only physical but emotional also. It is never easy not even after all this time for me because everyday I am tempted with chocolate and junk food and I still have to use my will power to say no because I could very easily say yes and be right back to the old crap. I know I am a sugar addict and one piece would send me over the edge. There is no such thing as once piece of chocolate with me and be satisfied. If I ate one I would eat 333 pieces hands down.
