    Keeping busy

Well we finally settled on our new home which was a nightmare to say the least, but I am very happy with our beautiful home. Now I have a nice swimming pool to get in so the movements won't hurt as much. This fibro has really taken a toll on me but other then that and my wonderful husband who has done so much, I am fine. The pain at times is unbearable but it is something I just have to live with. As far as my band its still doing its job. I'm stable now. Could lose some more but I really don't care one way or the other if I do or don't. Unless I ever get a tummy tuck I will always have that apron. It's not huge but it bothers me. Oh well clothes hide things well lol. I'm looking for a less physically stressful job because my doctor said if I don't stop lifting and pulling and pushing patients my pain will never get better. So I have been looking around for something a little less stressful. I was checking in so my friends know I am still alive lol. Just relaxing today and watching Hulu waiting for the pool to get cleared up this week so I can jump in it. Here are some pictures of the house.
  3. I wasn't being rude. I was just wondering why if you were/are unhappy with your band you would be on a website with banded people. It doesn't work for everyone but if it failed me or I failed it I wouldn't be on here trying to make others feel like it's a bad decision. I can say that most people on this site have been very happy with their bands.

Question with eating every 5-6 hours

I choose not to have my band so tight that I can't eat breakfast. I eat every two to three hours and it's fine. I don't think any doctor would tell you that you have to go five to six hours without any food. I have done well. You can't do what everyone else is doing. Just do you.
  5. If you are unhappy with your decision to get the band why would you be on a lapband website bad mouthing the band. I do believe there is a website for unhappy bandsters to moan and complain about why the band did not work for them. All in all there have been more successes with the band then not.

    Heartburn...I don't think I'm too tight?

You really could have a urinary tract infection. I never get common symptoms but all stomach issues when I have one. Worth checking out. It seems weird to think it could be but it is possible. Go get one of those kits from the drug store and if anything on there turns purple that means you have leukocytes in your urine which could mean a UTI.
  7. First of all no weight loss surgery is a success unless you want it to be. You can have all three and it is up to you to make it work and keep it off. Erosion comes mainly from overeating and pressing the band into your stomach. All weight loss surgeries there are complications but 5% is not a lot if you look at the whole picture. If a million people have the band and only 5% had complications or gained their weight back then that is a very small number. The decision is basically yours but I have no regrets and I am 31/2 years post op
  8. Enjoying our new home. It is beautiful

  9. They are getting you ready for the post op phase as well when you will only be able to have liquids

The Lap Band Didn't Work For Me.....

Absolutely. I like this. Well said.
  11. North Florida Surgeons take other patients. I had two fills by Dr. Webb because I had my surgery in Fort Lauderdale before moving here. I do believe everyone in his group does weight loss surgeries. He does not say much but he had done a lot of surgeries. I worked in the Pacu at St. Vincents South and he had no issues of taking me. He is a good surgeon. Got to see his work upfront.
  12. it never ceases to amaze me how long you stay away its the same old same old here lol

4 1/2 Post-Op And Not really Losing Weight

Your idea of restriction is probably not right. The band for the most part and most people will NOT stop you from eating any amount of food. It will however keep you fuller longer on less amount of food. You have to be the one to weigh your food and not eat more then a cup of food at one sitting. No more then three times a day. If you are still hungry in between then eat something low calorie.

I want to lose it fast

This really gripes my band lol. You did not gain weight over night and you will not lose it overnight with the band. If you wanted fast weight loss then you should have chosen the by pass. The band was not intended for people to drop 50lbs in a month. 1 to 2 pounds a week is normal if you lose more then that is great. You can not expect to get the results that others get. Everyone is different, we all have different metabolisms. However now comes the be mean mommy part..... If you are only giving part of your self to the band you can not expect 100% results. If you are not following the diet plan your doctor has given to you, you can not expect results. If you eat more then you should you will not lose weight. If you are starving call your doctor and ask for suggestions. No one ever said this was gonna be easy except for the people who know nothing about the band and say we are taking the easy way out. If you are eating cookies 2 weeks post op or pizza or fried chicken you might as well forget about doing anything. You have to want this and not following your doctors instructions is like going to court and being accused of murder and telling the judge well yeah I did stab him 30 times but can you just give me probation because I knew it was wrong but I did it anyway. The decisions you make in eating will tell on you. What ever you do in the dark always comes out to the light. Its like getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar while having your mouth full and as you spit out the cookies while you are saying I didnt do it, then you have made yoursel a total liar. Stop cheating yourself if you are newly banded. Our eating habits is what got us to weight loss surgery and weightloss surgery is only as successful as the person makes it. The only guarantee you have is that you will lose the weight if you follow directions. Weight loss does stop at times. Those are the times you have to be strong. If you have only lost 10 pounds in 8 months then its not the bands fault. At some point you did not follow instructions. I went on an ice cream spree which lead to weight gain. I knew it and I accepted it but soon realized I was not helping myself. You have to be willing to give 100% if you want 100% results.
  15. You would risk having diarrhea constantly and be dehydrated to keep weight off. What in the world are you thinking. This in no way is funny and you need to think seriously about your health issues and not gaining ten pounds.. I really think you need to rethink everything you just typed. Health issues vs having the band is so not worth it.

    Gaining weight :(

Well you have to control your eating habits or you will gain and not lose. You have to have some kind of restraint with this.
  17. cheryl2586

And the newest fad diet is......

Some people have nothing better to do lol
  18. Dont compare yourself to others but in my opinion when you are in your first year, your compliance needs to be 100% or you will never get the results you are looking for. You want to lose weight fast but that other 20% is believe it or not a big amount of the problem. Stick to the plan and you will lose a great deal your first year.

    ANGRY >:-(

For the most part you will do most of the work, the band will do some but not all. Its up to you and changing your eating habits that is the key to success. Everyone is different in how many fills it takes to help. The band will never stop you from eating it will keep you from being hungry for 4 or 5 hours on smaller amounts of food. People get restriction messed up. For some it stops the amount that you can eat but in all reality the food doesnt stay in your pouch long enough to make a difference. Even at my green zone if I want I can still eat a large plate of food. Its up to me to control that I wouldnt do that. I really think people are so misinformed about the way the band works.
  20. I would not be on here looking for advice. You have a serious issue and need medical attention. You should not be upping your medication because you are trying to get rid of the symptoms. 900 mg of zantac is not gonna help if 300 didnt. Go see your doctor asap before you end up with an eroded band.

    Day 5..Should have listened :(

This is common during the liquid phase. Liquids in liquids out. It does get better I promise. When you start eating protein you may have the opposite problem lol

    The Troll has spoken.....LMAO

If these things bother you so much, then why make yourself more aggravated by coming here and reading it. We all have had our times and our days of people in general getting on our nerves but for the most part those of us that have been banded for a long time certainly are not going to sit back and watch other fill their guts with pizza and cake three days post op and not say anything. Some people just need a swift kick once in a while.

    Increasing sodium

try sea salt or cook your food with salt added.

    What do you think?W

I really think that people post negative to try to deter people who have not gotten banded yet to make them run away from it. I also think that everyone needs to know that most people fail the band and that less of the time the band fails people. Yes its good to know the good, the bad, the ugly however most of the negative things that happen are from their own fault, not following instructions. Most band slips come from over eating and throwing up a lot as well as esophageal dilation. Erosion also comes from over eating. It all depends what it is they are being negative about.

    Caffeine and dehydration

Caffiene was never about dehydration its because it is a stomach irritant. This a confusing issue with a lot of people but it has nothing to do with dehydration at all. Most doctors recommend not drinking regular coffee because it is an irritant.
