    Help! Acid reflux:( debating removal

I would certainly have a serious discussion with your surgeon and your family doctor to see what they think should be done. Best of luck on whatever your decision is.

    Gallbladder

I had mine out in December. Pretty much only too alleve after the surgery. I didn't need anything for pain really. I had a little pain when I woke up from surgery and after they gave me something I really had not pain after that. I would say I was doing pretty much normal stuff the next day. It was an easy recovery.

    Long-time bandster

You are still awesome. We all falter now and then but you have done exceptional.
  4. Well based on my many years in healthcare and teaching nutrition to lapband patients it COULD be should never be brought up here. We are not doctors to say what it COULD be and every post you make to people is so negative that they are probably going to lose their bands. Take all your 100 years of banding out of your head because it means nothing. Your experience is only that YOUR experience. You have not right to tell newly banded people that this is what it could be. You should only be giving encouragement not telling people how you failed at the band and had to have it put in twice. We all are not like you. I would say 95% of us are not like you. If you don't have any good advice to give then don't give any. All you are doing is putting fear in these new banders and that is not right. I don't know what high horse you rode in on but you need to stop it. You come out of no where after how many years and now because you needed two bands everyone else will fail. Sorry but its not true.
  5. You can do it. I just don't get the whole baby spoons and forks. You do not need to resort to childrens utensils. Just prepare and store your food in smaller containers it does help.
  6. You have no right to say all these things that could be wrong. It could be something as simple as gastritis or it could be too tight. You are way out of boundaries putting up diagnosis when she has not even seen her doctor. Don't fret about it until you see your doctor. Anyone can tell you anything but no one knows except your doctor.

    Saving the Best for Last

Yes Jean I completely agree. I have learned to not let the band deprive me of the things I love by only consuming protein. I do treat myself now a couple times a week with ice cream my most favorite thing on the earth.

This is weird.. I can eat

First of all anyone that has any kind of major abdominal surgery does not eat whole food after wards. I think most if not all of us were on clear liquids for at least two weeks after surgery and then to mushie food and making your way to whole food about four to six weeks after surgery. Not only did your surgeon fail you, I would look for someone else for follow up care. If you eat regular food and do not give your band time to adhere to your stomach you are setting your self up to either have a slip or it erode. My suggestion would be to stop right now eating whole foods whether you are starving or not because you are doing more harm to your stomach then good. We all have been hungry and no one died because they were hungry. If your doctor is not going to give you proper instructions to follow post up then you need to find a new doctor right now. As a matter of fact I would call his office and give him a piece of your mind that you got no instructions to follow post op. Im sorry I am not giving you hell but your doctor has totally put you in hell right away. Do your own self a favor and at least stay on clear liquids for 7 to 10 days.

What exercise do you do at home?

If all the above fail and you have a husband or boyfriend then some good ole fashion romp in the sheets is excellent exercise lol

    C-diff (?)

Make sure you take all your medication and do not share a toilet with anyone else unless you clean it with bleach each time. It is something that a lot of people get in the hospital depending on what anitbiotics you were given

    ??

They hook you up to a million wires and then you go to sleep. Well if you can that is.

    Feeling some type of way

You may get severely swollen after a fill up to 3 weeks but some people just are like that. Sometimes you just have to be on liquids for a longer period but you have to learn how to eat with your band after a fill.
  13. cheryl2586

    How long on liquid?

What did your doctor tell you after you had the fill. It should be them telling you how long.
  14. How is eating two tacos going to make you have to spend 5 hours working out? You would have to consume 3500 calories of fast food to gain a pound and I doubt two tacos had that many calories in it. You cant beat yourself up just move on. Its not like you fell off completely for months its one meal.

    Feeling fed up!

Your not moaning and you perfectly have the right to ask what it feels like to be full. Now we/you don't eat to be full we eat to only be satisfied and if you can eat and go three to four hours without being hungry then I would say you are good.

Too tight? Or is this typical?

Oh and NaNa your statistics are wrong because its less then 5% of lapband patients that fail. I don't care if you have been banded for 10 years you must have lost yours or something to be so rude to people. I think everyone knows how to eat. Your insinuating that we will all lose our bands and why because you did? The only reason I could think that you preach what no one should do. We all have mothers you are not a surgeon and if yours turned your back on you its because you probably drove him nuts. I think most people have enough sense if something isn't right to go to their surgeons. We all have made mistakes but it doesn't mean that we all will lose our bands. I can almost guarantee you lost or do not still have your band that is why you feel the need to preach to everyone. For the record I can assure you that 95% of this forum will still have their bands 10 years from now. You have no right to tell people what to eat or how to eat there is no food off limits with the band NONE. Its only what you and only you can not tolerate. I cant eat meat but that does not mean everyone in the forum cant eat meat. Its my personal problem with MY band not all of bandland. Your not educating you are putting people down and most of the time people who do that are miserable with their own selves.

Too tight? Or is this typical?

You wont lose weight if your too tight because you cant eat the right kinds of foods. If you are too tight you will lean more towards slider unhealthy foods. You will also get acid reflux.

    Pre op Diet Struggles

I would think slim fast would be the last thing they would want you to have. Not only is it low in protein but its also high in sugar. But hey every doctor is different but it would not be my choice.
  19. cheryl2586

ON MY WAY TO THE HOSPITAL

Its called versed that will take care of that little problem. Good luck.

    Heartbroken

I know that no words can take away your pain. I am truly sorry that you lost your friend. I pray that you and her family will find comfort to ease the pain.
  21. cheryl2586

    The problem with cheat days....

Yes it does make me hungrier. I suppose it really isn't worth it sometimes.
  22. cheryl2586

    I miss eating...

I agree Terry and I think most of us have that problem. I eat every two hours only because my blood sugar drops. Maybe it would help if you did the six small meals every two hours instead of three meals. I know it makes a difference in how I feel. Hate that blood sugar dropping feeling.
  23. cheryl2586

HELP!! Has anyone had this happen?

Hope you get it fixed. I would ask him if the type of band and port placed have others had issues with. Hope your insurance will pay to get it replaced. Nothing like being newly banded and having issues like that to deal with.
  24. cheryl2586

    Anxiety over being "Normal"

Life doesn't stop because you have the band. If you are going out to dinner eat what you want. Why feel guilty? Life is too short not to enjoy things that you want. Its not like you will be doing this daily. Enjoy your friends and eat the food.
  25. cheryl2586

Too tight? Or is this typical?

The only foods I can not tolerate is meat pretty much but I have become a vegan. In all reality bread rice and pasta are not bad for you as some think. I have never got stuck on rice and I am able to eat it in small amounts. There should be no limits on food if you can tolerate them. I try to stay away from junk food and that's only because its not good for you but if your doctor said you can eat these foods then listen to him/her. Up until this year I taught nutrition for lapband patients and there are no foods that are not allowed only some that are not tolerated but that is basically how your band reacts to food and that is it. Everyone will have certain things their bands do not tolerate. When I was in the losing phase I never cheated. Now that I am in the maintenance phase I eat what I want and that includes pasta and rice.
