Day 8 and still geeling sore
cheryl2586 replied to Ready to wear cute clothes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your port is in that area and it will hurt longer then the rest. -
I usually have to be on liquids for three weeks. Mostly protein shakes. I only get a fill maybe once a year but none this year yet.

congrats and my your success be helpful to others along the way -
You may be really swollen since she put 10 cc's in then took it out. That makes no sense to me but whatever their reason is for that. I stay swollen for three weeks after a fill so you might want to hang in there or if its too bad have them take some out. Some peoples stomachs are just very sensitive.

A lot of people get surgical depression after surgery. You are not alone. Just keep hydrated.

You are never going to feel full with the band. If you get to the feeling full point you have over eaten. You only eat to feel satisfied or not hungry. You should be measuring your food. A cup to half cup and that's all. If you are eating a ton no fill in the world is going to stop that. You have to have some constraint with your intake.

Raisin brand is no good for me either. I can not get it down no matter how soft it is. Maybe if you like cereal you should try cheerios or something like that.

Lapband to gastric bypass surgery
cheryl2586 replied to manseau0918's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They quit doing them before the band came out. The plication surgery was just in clinical trial last year in June of 2012 at UC Sandiego. With it being that new again I would not want my stomach folded and stitched without a band and they still do not know the out come of the patients. Too much risk of stomach tissue dying with it just being folded over. If they do not do it right you are cutting the blood supply off to your stomach. I would not want it. But that is just my opinion. -
Sometimes they will unfill it to see if it will go back into place on its own but if its too bad they will remove the band. At that time if you opt to have one of the other surgeries they will do it after the band removal depending on if any of the band eroded into the stomach wall, in that case you would have to wait until it heals. Best of luck no matter what you decide.

Lapband to gastric bypass surgery
cheryl2586 replied to manseau0918's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They quit doing plication's because that is how they found out that the procedure alone caused stomach tissue to die. It was really the first original weight loss surgery and after many failed attempts they couldn't get it right so they quit doing it. -
Hi All from Ft Lauderdale Florida
cheryl2586 replied to Florida Joe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just make sure he provides good after care that is the most important. I don't know that doctor. I moved here in Jacksonville about 3 years ago. I miss fort Lauderdale for sure. I have another doctor up here as needed. Hope your surgery goes well. -
The band will adhere to the stomach when it has been in there a while and when taking it out after so much time it can be a struggle for the surgeons to not damage you stomach in the process. Thankfully its only around the top and not the whole stomach
-
well hopefully they will get it through before six weeks.

Negative posts that plant the seed!!
cheryl2586 replied to Zingythingy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I would call the office and demand an appointment with him or see if another surgeon will take you for your fills and after care. Many surgeons now are accepting patients from other doctors. Its not like it was when the band was new. If you are not happy with your doctor you need one that not only provides you with the vital information you need to be successful but also that cares enough to see you from time to time and doesn't rush you out the door. I would see who takes your insurance and find a new surgeon. I am almost sure someone else would look after you. They would only need your preop and post op record. -

I would be having a nice talk with your doctor and tell him that you feel lost. Tell him you are not happy with your after care. That is the most important part of the whole band. You need a good support system at home and with your surgeon. -
Cruising right along!

I had my surgery in Fort Lauderdale who is doing your surgery. I had Dr. Wizman. Just do what your surgeon says pre surgery and post surgery and you will do fine. -
looks great thank you

Jim I agree we all have those moments but no one has to post a rant about how we should not use our professions to give advise. Well I am proud of what I do and those who spend their entire day on lapband talk and have to be the first ones to post after everyone then there is something wrong with that and the same person that had to rant is guilty of the same thing.

happy times shopping for smaller clothes. Nothing is silly about that. Good for you.

I think for the most part we all have tried on our own and went back and forth. It will help you. It just has to be for life.
