I dont wont to seem ungrateful BUT????
cheryl2586 replied to adugan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Some people are just sensitive and have a lot of swelling after a fill. If you feel uncomfortable then by all means get an unfill. I can go as long as three weeks after a fill and still be swollen. My doctor said some people just have a sensitive stomach. If you cant keep things down they call and get in there. -
But what do all of you think restriction is? Its not limiting the amount of food you eat. You can eat the same no matter how many fills you get. That is the part of you that you have to control. Restriction is most of the time misconceived. It is being able to be satisfied not full for 3 to 4 hours on a small amount of food. If you are waiting for it to control the amount you eat that may never happen.

Who is arguing. Why do some people have to take everything someone writes so offensive or literally. January was almost a year ago it is almost November I did not say that the poster was wrong. If you don't like what people post then ignore it.

Any band can slip if you had it since January and it just slipped now, how is that the old surgeons fault.

Your weight can fluctuate every day by at least 3 to 9lbs. If you are going to be a scale watcher then you have to get over being disappointed when the numbers go up. Water weight and other things will only make the scale go up. You have to be patient if you are going to weigh everyday because if not you will make yourself crazy.

Intro from Down Under
cheryl2586 replied to kittykat6's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The lap band will not help with stress eating. It does not control the amount and quality of food you chose to eat. It's only job is to make you go three to four hours and not be hungry on a smaller amount of food. It is up to you to control your emotional eating. You have to make the choice to either give up on eating for stress and try to get help with that or no surgery is going to get rid of that part of your brain. -
What did you tell your Employer???
cheryl2586 replied to tifflo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have an HR department or employee health then you don't have to tell her anything. It stays with whom you report to in order to come back to work. Most doctors notes just say ____________ has been under my care since ___________ and they may return to work with no restrictions. I am sure he is just a general surgeon so you could be getting anything done. No one has to know not even your boss. -
Sort of depressed/sad/scared
cheryl2586 replied to vegas0610's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Going on cruises is not an issue. You are thinking about how you will miss the food. It's not about food anymore with the band. Its about enjoying time with family and friends without needing to eat. Its time to rethink that enjoyment does not have to involve food anymore. I go on vacation and I enjoy myself with my husband and I enjoy the things that I could not do before. Enjoy life now not food. -
Weight loss stall, not feeling full...getting discouraged
cheryl2586 replied to coachchels's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Another thing you need to do is measure your food. You should never say stop eating you have eaten enough. Its a new life style now and until you can eyeball the correct amount of food your surgeon said is right for you, you definitely need to measure it and not go over that amount. This is not a race it is a forever thing. It's never ending and you have to do this for the rest of your life or basically be right where you started. Fills are never going to stop the amount you eat unless your band is so tight that you can't eat but that is no life to have either. You will have to do the controlling of everything you eat. Your not eating to get full. -
It will never be about being full no matter how many fills you get. Right now you have to control your portions. When you do reach the right fill which I don't like to call restriction because people get the wrong idea you will not be trying to get full but feel satisfied for 3 to 4 hours on one cup or less of food. You still have to control yourself while in the early stages.

Advise needed.. Starting over
cheryl2586 replied to hopefulinNY's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck with your surgery. This is never over. Even after you lose all your weight it is just as hard to maintain as to lose. Any mistakes at your maintenance and you are right back to gaining. Just look at it as they found the problem and now you can control the outcome. -
The stress of surgery, quick weight loss and not having enough protein is why we lose hair. Supplements really do not help with hair regrowth if you use Rogaine the hair will just start falling out again if you quit using it. Its expensive. Just try to be patient and it will stop on its own.

How Much Did You Lose?
cheryl2586 replied to Ms.Vickie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 18 pounds the first three weeks after surgery but that is not to be expected for everyone. It depends on a lot of things. -
Mine are not that visible either. They faded right away.
-
Good luck. You will be at goal in no time with an already prepared attitude.

Has anyone tried the Rogaine products for the hair loss?
cheryl2586 replied to fee139's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only problem with Rogaine is that once you stop using it the hair it grew will fall out. Not worth it. I agree wait it out. -
Good for you. Its always nice to hear those words.

call your doctor

Another question, strong hiccups?
cheryl2586 replied to Allieg8tor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It could also be your stop signal. Sometimes when you are full you will get hiccups. -
Getting banded in two months
cheryl2586 replied to Abby101's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was the best thing I ever did. I was banded four years ago two weeks before christmas and I did not miss all the holiday eating. Its not about food anymore but about spending it with loved ones. You all will succeed just follow the plan your doctor puts in place for you. -
My lap band story
cheryl2586 replied to Dieta Fleming's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So glad you have peace of mind now. Sorry you had to go through such an aweful ordeal. -
I would rather go slow also. I need to have the will power also and not rely totally on my band. I go about once a year for a fill but so far I am good with 3cc's. It is just no real connection with doctors which makes it hard for everyone. Here is to 180 this week for you. <3
