Whey Protein with isolates which everyone should be drinking does not bulk you up or build muscle. It is the other protein that body builders drink.

Find other things to do besides what tv. Play games on the computer, read a book, do some cleaning, fix your lunch for the next day, go to the mall and walk around since the weather outside is crappy. You can very well keep yourself busy. Put on some music and dance. I cant stand regular exercise it is boring to me to walk on a treadmill I would rather put some crazy music on and dance for 30 minutes. Get some things and make some crafts. Spring is coming start some indoor plants.

Lost, worried, disgusted....
cheryl2586 replied to autumnfireflys's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you don't get anything to drink before you eat then there will be nothing there to drink while you are eating. That is one of the biggest problems people have with eating and drinking. Just don't get the drink until 30 minutes after you eat. Starting over is not impossible you can do it but break the eating and drinking cycle now. -
Yes you can be hungry. They tell you that but it is bull. Some people do not have hunger the first week but they are lucky. Some people never get relief from hunger with the band. Not saying you wont but it can happen. Just rest and keep yourself hydrated.

Everyone who has no desire to have surgery tries to make us look like we are crazy but I feel this way. Its my body, my journey and take me or leave me. I did none of this to impress anyone. I did it to have a life. Not that I didn't have a life then but it was a harder life. 300lbs is a lot of weight to carry around. I was in severe pain every single day. I still have pain from my fibro but it is manageable. I can never understand people who mean you no good but are interested in judging your decisions. It's not their life and if you can or want to change jobs so that entering a new job no one knows your secret. I would not work for any boss that would act like that. I have left jobs for bosses that care nothing about their employees. Screw them they don't deserve to even know you.

When does the back ache stop?
cheryl2586 replied to cutlass6521's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With you being so new post op I think that is too much food. You should go for two ounces of meat instead for now until you can slowly work your way up to 4 ounces. Your body is telling you no that is where the pain is coming from. I would not worry about the calories right now it will come. -
When does the back ache stop?
cheryl2586 replied to cutlass6521's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may be over eating. Usually post op if you are allowed foods you will experience pain if you eat too much. Try not to eat to fast or too much no more then a half cup for now. -
I could have solved your problem you could have sent it to me for my iguanas lol

I don't think that exercise was any of our favorite things to do that is why we were obese. Eating and sitting and not moving. If you have a sedentary job as I also do now the weight is not going to come off like that unfortunately you have to make time. When I had to get up at 4:30, I got up at 4 and walked on the tread mill for 20 minutes. I know you probably want your sleep but you wont realize how good you feel after doing it. Just do it, no excuses.

Post-Op Liquid Diet?
cheryl2586 replied to fghtffyrdmns's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your doctor wants you on four weeks of liquids after surgery then listen to him. It's for a reason. Your stomach needs time to heal from the sutures that are placed. Don't stray from this do exactly like he says to do. -

Tea lovers speak up!
cheryl2586 replied to happyloser13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are a lot of people that drink coffee still. I have about three cups a day. You don't have to completely give up coffee just in the early months. -

Fighting your food! Getting tired of it?
cheryl2586 replied to NewMeDebbie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't get frustrated with food because there are so many things you can choose from. Usually people who are frustrated with food are the ones who eat the same thing over and over again. I don't think I have the same meal twice in three weeks. You have to find new recipes and try them. Things you might not have ever thought of. Go on a vegan website and look at the recipes there. Even if I eat the same veggies two days in a row I cook them differently. You have to make food interesting. I surely don't want to eat the same thing day in and day out by any means. I don't fight with my band I have learned to embrace feeling hungry since my whole adult life I never was hungry until the last four years. If I have a Protein shake I make it different each time and never the same. I may eat black Beans one day and salmon the next never having the same thing in a week. You can enjoy food but in a different way. Time to learn some new recipes. -
Excuses don't get you where you need to be. Doing it does.

You certainly can get a treadmill and at least walk for 30 minutes once everything is done and I also don't see doing laundry and vacuuming daily. I am sure you could skip that to every other day and in the 30 minutes you would be doing those things walk.

Its been a long time since I have eaten meat. It just does not work for me. I do eat a lot of fish. Mostly Salmon and Tuna. I think it's really the Omega 3's they are looking for. Give or take fish is good for you. If I live longer and I am gone mentally I will come back and haunt you lol.
-
Nope I do not eat and drink at the same time. 4 years since I have done both. You need to eat some high Protein foods. Cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, Beans of any kind, eat meat now while your not so tight, eggs. All of your choices right now should be high protein low fat and low carbs. If you eat enough protein you should not be hungry.

My work changed from BCBSIL to BCBSAL...post op...Not Covered
cheryl2586 replied to lisaholland73's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have really good insurance from my job but the thing is they won't pay for a fill but will pay all the cost if I am willing to change to another surgery the bypass or sleeve. Heck no I will stay just like I am but if I want a fill the doctor charges 500 just to see him and 195 per fill. This little thingy in my stomach is expensive. -
What does tight feel like?
cheryl2586 replied to drehn88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My only description would be that food feels sluggish going down. If you eat some solids it might get stuck. When I am tight I get stuck that is why I try to eat yogurt or something soft for Breakfast so I wont have to be in the toilet puking my guts out. -
You have just begun to hear noises. It s your food passing through your band. I would imagine when we swallow air that it helps make the noise louder. Welcome to your band talking to you. It can be embarrassing when you are sitting with a bunch of people and it starts talking while you are eating.

Is there any foods that you totally miss?
cheryl2586 replied to jamilyne 102668's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Anything that is not good for you is what I crave. -
You probably have major swelling. Some people like me have sensitive stomachs. There is no way after a fill for a few weeks that I can even attempt food. If it is hurting you to eat certain things then don't eat them. Call your doctor though and see what he feels is best.

NSV: New Underwear

I just want to say this to those who are newly banded. If you are weighing yourself every single day and get disappointed that it's not moving every day, then you need to stop weighing yourself every day or know that the scale will fluctuate anywhere from 3 to 9lbs per day. You retain Water and it will go up. Our bodies fluctuate weight every day. What I weigh today may not be what I weigh tomorrow. This is the very same thing that like any other diet will make you fail. If you can't adjust your mind to the numbers on the scale without being disappointed or sad then you need to get rid of your scale. When I weigh myself and I see the scale go up a few pounds its okay. I might be retaining water or need to move my bowels tmi I know but its true or maybe I did not sleep good the night before. If you are doing everything right then stop worrying when the scale doesn't move. Some people go for months and don't lose weight. Normal weight loss for lapband patients is 1 to 2 pounds PER WEEK. Yes that is right 1 to 2lbs a week. Anything more then that is a plus. Put your scales away and concentrate on healing. The first six weeks you probably will not lose one pound and might even gain a few. Your body has to catch up now since it went from 3 to 4, 000 calories a day to maybe not even 500 on Clear liquids. It's holding on to every bit of fat it can right now. Did you gain all your weight in two weeks? No so you wont lose it in two weeks either. If you are disappointed this soon in the game, then what will you really do when you don't lose for six months because it happens. Be patient and know that it will happen.
