Gas is usally gone within 48 hours. You may never get rid of that pain. I have had it for 15 months sometimes I get relief but most of the time I live with it. It could be your signal you are full or that the band is just laying on that nerve. It may get better it may not.

They have to put fluid in the band to see if its working but most take it out leaving your band empty. The smaller the fills the better off you are. Everyone is in a hurry to get fills but what happens when there is nothing left to fill. You have to try to do some of it on your own and not depend on fills to make you lose the weight. When you are filled all the way then what are you really going to do?

So who do I see about my bruises anyway?
cheryl2586 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should go to your pcp and have them refer you to a hematologist that is their specialty they can do many blood test that normal doctors cannot and tell you what is causing your bruising -
Come on you can do it up your excersise you will get that 20lbs off dont count on fills to do it because then what do you do when you are full and cant get anymore fills

Why Don't the Nerve Endings (In The Pouch Area) Control Head Hunger More?
cheryl2586 replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone wants to eat when they are over weight because that is what we are use to doing. No band, or any other gadget that they come up with is going to stop you from wanting to eat. I can count on one hand when I was obese how many times I ate because I was hungry thus making me thin if I wouldnt have ate. Your mind has to be ready for surgery and you have to control that wanting to eat the band is not going to do that for you -
I would say keep complaining to your doctor they have to remove it if it really is the reason you are getting sick. The more documentation you have of it making you sick the more likely you can get it removed keep bugging them they cant let you be sick

You need to consult your doctor. If your band slipped you would be profusely vomiting. I dont think that these kinds of questions should be aswered by anyone other than a doctor. Call him with your concerns it is your right to have him go over it with you if you dont feel like something is right. Your not going to feel like you have a pouch. I still think you need to call your doctor with this question.

Tricare denied claim after approving surgery!
cheryl2586 replied to onebadkitty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you havent gotten a bill then dont worry. Why worry about something you dont have yet. Relax it will all take care of its self -
Then just get the one a day chewables they have to be chewables you wont be able to swallow whole pills especially after you start getting fills
-
What did your doctor tell you to take? Most people take chewable vitamins a multi vitamin

You really need to sit down and talk to him about it. Is he really saying those things out of jealousy or to hurt you or is he saying it because he is proud of the fact that you have lost all that weight. You need to ask him what the problem is and why he is uspset if he is about you losing weight when he is a gym rat. That doesnt make much sense when I would think he would want someone that is as fit as himself. If he is upset about you losing weight and somehow feels threatened then why? I would really ask him these things. If his intention was for you to never lose weight or be healthy then I would have to question what his intentions really were and do you really need someone like that in your life. He knew you were going to lose weight and supported the surgery so now ask him what the problem is. If there is one and you have been together a long time then I am sure he will tell you.

ok, so here it is, MY truth about the lap band....right now, anyway
cheryl2586 replied to goldngrll's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yes it can be aggravating because some days I have trouble eating all day and others I dont. Its a give and take situation. Yesterday everything I ate including yogurt got stuck but today Im on liquids again tomorrow I will try to eat. It hasnt been easy but however I dont regret it. I have lost and can excersise now. I dont really think I have another addiction since food apparently isnt one of them anymore but you have to look at it as in your not 400lbs anymore, you are healthier than you were and yes there will be some days that when its hard to eat you will want to pull that darn thing out but we have to learn to live with it because having things get stuck are not half as bad as they were when I was 250 or 285 at my highest weight. -
You have to look at the sugar content on them. I would go for the higher proteins not just 10 grams
-
200 calries is not a lot for a snack if that is all your eating. I buy zone perfect and I havent had a problem. Of course your not going to eat 3 or four a day just one. If your breakfast, lunch and dinner is about 3 to 400 calories then a protein bar is fine that is 200 calories. But then again that is my breakfast most days.

wk 5-2 1/2 PLATEAU!
cheryl2586 replied to punk.sauce's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There will be weeks sometimes months the scale wont move you cant give up and I had to stop weighing myself everyday it only makes things worse. I didnt lose for six months and that was with fills. You body has been overweight for so long it has to adjust and sometimes it just stalls itself out because it was so use to consuming large amounts of calories now it is starving and doesnt want to let go of the fat. keep doing what your doing it will move eventually. Is it frustrating hell yes but we didnt gain it all in three months either. You cant take off 10 to 30 years of weight gain in a few months it doesnt work like that. -
slow and steady wins the race you dont want rapid weight loss

Did anyone else trip out at their first adjustment!?!
cheryl2586 replied to Mapein's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It really takes longer to get numb then to just get the fill. You should really be feeling anything except the initial stick once he is in the port there shouldnt be any pain if it is then he isnt doing it right. -
Hope things are smooth sailing

Can't believe some people that work for Doctors
cheryl2586 replied to Jonna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well if you have to go just make sure that they give you a copy of the results. Telling you is one thing and then comes oh I lost your paper work. Its worth it to go just to get your own copy saying all is well. -
Like everyone else you have to be ready because it is an adjustment for adults. I have faith that you can do it and will be successful as long as you want it and your not doing it for your mother. Do it because you want to. A big hug to you I know you are going through a rough time.

Well I am still somewhat swollen even after almost two weeks. I think I will be okay with this fill for a while I usually wait about 3 to 4 months before I decide on another fill. Thats the good thing about my dr he doesnt push fills and tells me to come in when Im ready. I get about a half to one cc at each fill and my stomach is super sensitive. I can feel it tighten when he puts the Water in so I know he is definitely in the right spot. Im kind of glad I have restriction at such little fills it makes me believe that I will be successful in my weight loss because Im not filling it up so quickly like some I see on here that want a fill ever other week. They dont even give their fill a chance to work and if they dont lose right away they want another fill. I guess they dont know what slow but steady means. If I lose on to 2lbs a month I am losing and Im not going to have my stomach strangled to 10cc's if I can get to goal with less. Im only 15 months post op and 70lbs lighter so I am happy with that for now.

"My kids just don't like vegetables!"
cheryl2586 replied to Birinak's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There are many wonderful seasonings out there that can make veggies not taste like veggies. People need to cook them with lots of seasoning if they have kids that wont eat them and then make them at least try it. I dont buy that crap my kid wont try anything new. What? Really? Children will try it if you make them. Just tell them to try it before you decide you dont like it. You make your child not try things new by not making them. -
Anxiety after surgery?
cheryl2586 replied to momnear40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Think of it as a lovely foreign object that is going to suck your waistline in and make you an awesome new person. -
I love lloyds barbequed meat. It is shredded all of it chicken, beef, pork and one tub is about four meals for me its low in calories and moist so its not so hard to go down. You should be able to eat most things except bread. Some meats except for beef need some type of moisture and lots of chewing. I am tight and eat everything. Practice makes perfect.

I always lose 7lbs or even 9 after a fill the first week. I dont know I guess liquids and food are different in how it makes you lose weight. I wouldnt keep getting fills though if you are constantly losing. I want as much room as I can so when its two or three years out I will still be able to get fills. I am 15 months out and still only have 3 and 1/2 ccs in my band in a 10 cc band. but I do lose major after a fill for sure.
