When I tipped the scales at 287lbs I knew this was serious. I was almost 300lbs. Of course I tried every diet and never got past the second week. It took me a long time to have lapband surgery because my insurance would only approve the By-pass which I refused to have. On Dec 14, 2009 I had Lap-Band surgery. When I woke up I could not stop dry heaving and thought what the heck did I do to myself. This continued for three days post op. The first six months I lost 70lbs and then I decided to quit smoking. Well that was heck of a wrong idea. Over the next year I never lost a single pound and gained 25lbs back. It was so disheartening because I felt I worked so hard to get it off and I was no where near my goal. So I started eating protein like crazy. Left all the other stuff alone and some veggies. In 3 months I lost 45lbs. So now my total weight loss is 108lbs. Sometimes weight gets stuck for weeks, months and yes even a year but you can't give up ever. You have to know that we didn't get like that over night and even though we choose to have surgery, its not a quick fix. So here I am and here is where Im staying for life. Success at it's best.
