Hi I have my intial class on 9/2 in Fremont, with BMI over 50 I understand surgeons will "push" gastic bypass, but I'm all for the band, what should I expect? anything thats going to floor me, whats the timeline with kaiser from 1st this class to surgery, been told 3-4 months. I have begun a 1200 calorie a day diet, ( wow it's tough) plus excercising 4-5 days a week for 45-50 min a day, thanks

    Hello!

I just begun myself last week,, I have my inital class/consultation 9/2, my regular dr gave me a "heads up" to start early losing the weight so I'm shooting for 15-20lbs off by 9/2, He put me on 1200/day calorie diet and work out 50min a day routine biking and swimming , was told Surgeon asks for 10% weight lose, for me that 42 lbs, So far not really hungry, and have a slight bit more energy, sure the cravings will it soon, just have to get through it, luckily my wife is also trying to lose weight, not through surgery but we are watching what we eat and no more junk food, sodas, juices. Best of luck to you

    Hello!

Hi, I too have Kaiser in Nor CAL, just depends on coverage provided, I have checked 3 times now and lap band for me is coverd consider outpatient surgery as Gastic is considered hospital stay which is double of outpatient costs
  10. Hi I just begun my journey and decided lap band is best for me, I have a BMI of 54 (ugh), going through Kaiser to have procedure done and insurance say's I'm covered, checked 3 seperate times now to make sure, DR is writing my referral for the surgery once I complete the introduction class in a few weeks, began working out riding excercise bike 8-10 miles a day for 40 min and jogging in pool for another 20-30min evry other day, and started 1200 calorie/day diet hoping to drop some lbs in advance to get the ball rolling and get used to whats instore, been cutting my food into tiny pieces, and chewing to mush to used to that, I've had enough of being fat Anyone else gone through Kaiser or can offer what I should expect in coming weeks, I do know I will be required to lose 10% I was told of current weight, is this true I have read some posts that drs just want you to make an effort and lose what you can before surgery, basically what am instore for in coming week, tests, physc exam? etc thanks
