3 Weeks Post Op - This Is What I'm Figuring Out... With All Of Your Help

God could you imagine trying to eat just an entire small pie now? You'd hurt yourself. LOL. I can remember I used to sit down and eat a large long before I started this journey. -

ccjll, I have no doubt you got this down. After you've been around a while you get a pretty good feel of who is going to do well and those not so well. I can see you got this. Both your posts are wonderful and spot on in my opinion. Detoxing and being strict with yourself is very important in the beginning and is part of the process of learning that new lifestyle. I just wanted to make sure all Newbies know that it does not need to be like that for the rest of your life. With anything you learn what works for you as the time goes on. You experience and develop new habits based on how your anatomy works with your band. Again, I wish you much success and hope to see you here posting often and letting us know how you're doing. -
3 Weeks Post Op - This Is What I'm Figuring Out... With All Of Your Help

I would never recommend going against a Doctor or Nutritionist guidelines however what you are describing here is deprivation. Deprivation is nothing but another diet. I don't know about you but I have lost plenty of weight at various times in my life by dieting and depriving myself only just to gain it all back and then some. While you are pretty much a new Bandster I would recommend you following the guides they gave you however long term deprivation of your favorite foods is just not a fun way to live. Living with a band is not about dieting and deprivation. Band is a lifestyle change consisting of portion control and becoming satisfied on less food. Sure you need to make good quality food choices but to rule out ever having your favorite foods again is just a recipe for the same old, same old. I have eaten pizza, ice cream basically anything I wanted with the exception of a few foods my band does not get along with. For example, I cannot eat a bagel. It is just far too doughy to go through. Moderation is the big key. So for me in my experience I get satisfied on so little food that the craving to eat all the bad stuff does not exist like it once did. I still once or twice a month go to McDonald's drive thru and get an ice cream cone and I did have a slice a pizza this past Summer but for the most part since I found the sweet spot my head hunger has gone away. I wish you nothing but success!! Sounds like you're doing fantastic so far!! -
Great!! I would like this post but it appears I cannot like any of your posts anymore. Is that by design or a bug? Will we ever see who likes what again or is that not in the plans?

Taft along with many others was President back in a time before the media frenzy and television. I do wonder at times if FDR ever would've become President if there was T.V. back then.

Thanks Alex!! I see they're already back. Believe it or not that right side table was what I missed most.

What Finance Companies Have People Used ?
Jim1967 replied to nursing06's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Care Credit is a big one used by a lot of medical professionals as well as Animal Hospitals. Not all Surgeons accept it so it would be good to check on the options before applying for it. -
Hey I an finally seeing status updates on the main page. That's an improvement!!
-
yea I am not even seeing the envelope icon anymore up next to my name.

24 degrees outside this morning. I am dreading Winter already. Going to be a long couple of months...
-
Just curious.... What is the point of setting a status in your profile when the only way it will be seen is if someone goes directly to your profile? I am really missing the right pane of information from the old sites homepage. Trending topics is not that great. I would rather see status, blog and active posts/posts without responses. As always I appreciate this site more than words could describe.

Yea and at least Christie is doing something about it now...

For so many years I didn't understand what hunger was because I was always eating. Even now I rarely experience the sensation thanks to my band. I am still amazed how my eating habits have changed to a point where I don't understand it. I have lost interest in food and only eat to live now instead of living to eat.
-
I don't think weight should play a factor in being able to run for President especially if you have no health related symptoms. Should Christie run I would like to think he would be judged on his politcal views and not his appearance. I do agree with Palin though that women are scrutinized more then men and it's not fair. It is about the only thing Palin and I agree on. A person could be extremely overweight and still be in perfect health. In fact I am one of them. At my highest weight of 488lbs I had absolutely no weight related health issues.

6 Years Later, Still No Regrets
Jim1967 replied to garfield461's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations indeed!! I love reading success stories. We're all addicts in one form or another and while the band is there to help there will always be those head issues that get in the way sometimes but at least the band is there as a constant reminder to help you put your brain in check. Your story inspires me that with this tool I can have the long term success that I am seeing now. Thank you and I wish you continued success and happiness!! -
Where are the Dr's doing the over 50BMI surgery?
Jim1967 replied to Heimlichwaiting's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Irishflower, I am not sure you will get an answer. This was originally posted in 2010 and this person does not appear to be active on this site any more. -
I am not sure if it's normal but I suffer from the same thing. I have had blood work done to see if I am anemic which I am not. I was advised to dress in warmer clothes.

LMAO!!!!

In my opinion the scale not moving is not a good reason to get a fill. Purpose of getting a fill would be to deter your hunger for a prolonged amount of time. I almost got a fill once because of the scale not moving and a good friend on here helped me analyze it. What it came down to is I could go 4 to 5 hours between meals without being hungry. I do not snack. Therefore my band was doing exactly what it was designed to do. Sometimes your body needs time to adjust especially if you lost a lot of weight. I would definitely recommend analyzing your food intake and exercise as others have suggested. If your not journaling food then that might be a good idea just so you can take stock on your intake. This is a great article to read if you haven't already. http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html

Problems With This New App..

Yea I am having a hard time liking this. I already copied off all of my blogs to an external site so I don't have to worry about losing access to them. My post count jumped from just over 1000 to over 3000. LOL -
I am going after the New Year. I am out of vacation time or should I say it is all booked up to do something fun, I've been sleeping fine without up to this point but I do need to get re tested in case I still need it. So far I am not snoring and I do dream now even without it. I hadn't dreamt without my CPAP in years.
-
Hi All, Strange thing started occurring this past week. I've been wearing a nasal only CPAP since 2010 and this past week every night so far has been restless and I seem to be sleeping with my mouth open causing my throat to dry out by the morning. Typically the air being forced into my nose would keep my mouth shut. Only other time I had this issue was when I was battling a head cold which I do not have at this time. I am not sure what to think here. I am about ready to seek out my Doctor for advice but wanted to know if anyone else has had this experience. Part of me wonders if perhaps the significant weight loss is playing a factor and it's time for a new sleep study evaluation. Maybe my machine needs to adjusted. I still feel I am getting REM cycles as my dreams continue on. I never have dreams without wearing the CPAP. I did try one night without the CPAP and that was even worse. thanks
