Thanks for the suggestion for beneprotein, I'm going to try that.

Today is my fifth day since surgery and I'm confused about the water/protein requirements. Does the Water in my Protein shakes count towards my 64oz water goal? Do I have to wait 30 minutes after the Protein Shakes to drink water since they are both liquids? Does anyone know of a truly unflavored Protein powder I can mix with broths and Soups so I can get as much as possible? Do I have to wait 30 minutes before and after broth to drink water? I'd call and ask my dr. but it's Sunday so they are not open. Tks Lyn

I hope I don't have to take it forever, just temporarily till I move to reg. foods. No it's not habit forming and stimulant free. Stop at drug store or go online and read about it...Miralax.com

MIRALAX--- as the name suggests "Miracle Laxative"--- I had surgery on 8-10-11 and didn't "go" for almost 2 weeks! I was a regular "mover" before surgery, but all this protein and no veggies or fruit are messing with my system. I was putting Benefiber in everything, but it didn't work. So at my 2 week post-op appt. I talked to my dr. and he said try Miralax. I take one serving every night before bed and now I go daily.... not a lot, but then I don't eat much.

Mine is: Days 1-3 clear liquids (in hospital) Days 3-14 full liquids including yogurt and cottage cheese Days 15-45 puréed foods, soft eggs, cheese, Beans Day 45 and after start soft and work my way into normal foods I'm on day 12... Can't wait for eggs!

Please excuse my ignorance.........Doesn't Metamucil expand and thicken the shake? I thought Metamucil had to be drank quickly?? I've never tried it. But I use Benefiber daily and it doesn't seem to do anything, I'd love to switch to something that does. I used to go daily, now I've only gone 2 times in the 11 days since surgery. Thanks, Lyn

My surgery is Wednesday too!! Congrats! and Happy Losing! I suggest the nectar brand. I buy it at The Vitamin Shoppe (dont' know if that's available in your area) or online, but they are great. Doesn't even taste like Protein powder, mixes super easily, and they have tons of flavors including unflavored. 100 calories, 0 carbs, 0 sugar, 0 fat, and 23 gms carbs per scoop. Hope I have helped.
