About Me

  • Gender
    Female
Although I was not at an extremely high weight (216), my blood pressure was out of control. The Dr. was getting ready to put me on my 5th medicine for BP (to take all 5 in a day). I decided to join the gym and work out for 1 year before having the surgery to see if that would help the weight and BP. Unfortunately, after committing to that year and faithfully going 3 times a week (80 miles round trip) I only lost 1 pound!!! I also have Celiacs Disease, which is a digestive disease, where one cannot tolerate gluten. Celiacs has a devestating effect on weight loss....because your body does not digest well, it feels like it's in starvation mode all the time. Therefore, your body holds on to every ounce of fat because it doesn't know when it will be fed again.
The Dr. thought that because of the BP and pre-diabetes that the lapband would be my best option.  The surgery would shock my body (which was needed to counter-act the Celiacs).  Well, i am now 3 year out, and because of the Celiacs, I am in the same spot.  I lost down to 176 and then had shoulder surgery 4 months ago, which kept me out of the gym until this week.  I now weigh about 189 and would like to, eventually, be in the 160's.
