So, I got my surgery done last month, in July, and have only lost about 16lbs so far. Yesterday morning I woke up and felt like it was hard to take a deep breath. Today didn't feel much different. I'm totally trying to avoid going to ER, but I guess I'll get looked at tomorrow. Anyone else have this type of problem? I love looking at your before and after photos..😊 Reading your weight loss journeys gives me inspiration. I hope 8 months down the line I can share my photos of the "new" me.

Good Luck! I had mine July 23rd and I was a nervous wreck. I woke up before I knew it and was so glad it was over. Now, I'm on my next chapter. Just remember your fluids, protein and walking. This forum is great and everyone has been really helpful. Your not alone.. -

Hello, I got my lap band surgery in Arizona when I had Blue Cross insurance. I moved to San Diego and can't find a doctor who will do the band adjustments for me with MediCal/Community Health Insurance..if anyone has any idea who I can make an appointment with in the San Diego area, please, please let me know...Thank You so much...

Hello fellow bandsters.... Okay..So I got my surgery on Aug. 4th 2011. I'll admit that the first 3 weeks were Hell... On my 3rd week I thought I was going to die...but on the 4th week..had no hunger at all. So, I can say it has gotten better. The problem I have now is that..I was told there was no Fluid in my band. I did good with my diet, but I had problems still with portion control and chewing good. A few times I've swollowed my food and it hurt going down because it was too much. Lol...I try to remember what I was told while eating. I worried that I messed up the band a few times...But..another part of me said...well..you really don't have any restrictions until your first fill, because there's no fluid in your band. WELL...I went for my first fill yesterday and the doctor pulled out 4cc! I was ticked off because they told me there wasn't anything in there after surgery. Started thinking about what and how I ate and got scared. I could've done serious damage to myself. But..I never had any pain or vomiting this whole time. They put the 4cc back in and added 1cc more. Well, I put myself on liquids again..just in case my lap band is in trouble. So, even if you are told there is nothing in your band...follow your diet and comply..in case you get a surprise, as I did. Any advise would be great at this time. I'm still feeling alittle guilty and nervous.. Thanks!

Hello! I'm not sure where you are with your search, but I would like to share my experience..... I had my surgery 3 weeks today and I also have BCBS and no way they were going to cover my surgery. I went through True Results. They did my pre surgery testing...they financed my surgery....they are totally awesome. I never needed a doctor's referral because they have their own. Just a clearance from a cardiologist. They helped me from one month to the next. I thought I was never going to get help..but they helped me. Maybe, if you haven't found any help...you can call them. They are also online. Good luck and welcome....

Thank you so much Cindy! I am excited...but can't wait to get past this liquid part, but it will pass.... -
Name is Lorraine....I got to my highest weight @ 290. Decided if I didn't do something quick I wouldn't see my kids grow up. I was banded on Aug 4th 2011. I have never been more nervous about anything in my life, but the surgeon and staff were amazing. I didn't feel a thing. I felt it all afterwards. I really had no pain anywhere else but the bottom incision, where the port is. That one hurts like a sucker. Then the incision on the side started to bleed a little. It's the one that has the most bruising, but doesn't hurt much. I did my 48 hours of Clear liquids...if I taste another cup of broth I will vomit... Jello is also starting to lose it's goodness...Well I started on the liquids. I've been drinking Protein drinks, yogurt and applesauce....all fat free of course. Feeling a little bit more hungry today. I just keep drinking fluids and hope this day passes quickly. I get to start "mushies" on the 12th. Looking forward to a change. If anyone has any advice about the hunger or about the bleeding incision please let me know.

LOL! I know it's hard cooking and watching everybody enjoy FOOD. The doc called today and told me I have to stay on Protein drinks till my first appt on the 16th...Crap! Oh well...My son's bday is Friday, so I will have to go through all that too.. My incision actually stopped bleeding..I just wish my stomach would go down. I feel so bloated. .I know this is going to be all worth it in the end..but I'm about ready to hijack the burger king down the street.... Good luck to you Stephenie....and keep me posted on your progress... -
