    Only 2 Pounds In A Week :(

I was sleeved on the same day as you, and having the same problem. I am on pureed foods but not able to eat much so I know my caloric intake can't be very high. Ive lost 15lbs and it seems to have stopped there.

    I'm Struggling With My Choice.......

Trust me you are not the only one sick of strained soups, I find myself in the same situation of not wanting to eat simply because youre so sick of what you can eat. Tomorrow I get to move on to pureed foods and I'm soo excited.Ive also only lost about 15 lbs being two weeks and it does seem like it should be more when you're eating next to nothing doesn't it? lol Just wanted to let you know you are not alone, and my hope is that it will get better, we just have to keep our eyes on the prize and push through. I think we owe to ourselves to live a more healthy life!
  5. Go to tickerfactory.com and choose what you want yours to look like and enter in all your information like weight and BMI. After that it will show you a code that you copy and paste into the signature of your profile. I know how you feel about being tired all the time. Even though I've only lost 15lbs since surgery, my energy level is so much more now. This surgery is definately a great investment in your health!
  6. My BMI was 37 before surgery and my diabetes was pretty out of control with blood sugars ranging from 300-450. I am two weeks out and the highest blood sugar I have had has been 133. I'm sure my sugar levels will keep going down as the weight comes off as well. This surgery has been amazing to say the least!
  7. Will we always have to crush pills or break them open? Or do we eventually get to swallow them, if so how far out can we start swallowing them?
  8. Two more days and I can start pureed foods! Sooo excited! lol

    I Am A Failure

I am not going to be rude and make you feel worse about the situation as I feel some others have done. People make mistakes. I just wanted to suggest not only finding a therapist, but one who specializes in treating bariatric surgery patients. My therapist had RNY so she knows what I'm going through for the most part. It has been tremendously helpful! Best of luck to you and remember that tomorrow is a new day, and a new chance to get back on track!

    Dear Favoredone.. Must Read!

    Awww...what a great friend!
  12. Freezing! I've had to start layering my clothes. Today I'm wearing a t shirt, a sweatshirt, thermal pants, slippers and socks. Soo cold and cant seem to get warm!
  13. Thanks for everyone's input! I am just confused by the serving sizes because in the hospital, I had to be able to do 1 oz of liquid every 15 mins before they would even let me leave! The guidelines I was given was 1/2-2/3 cup every 2-3 hours. It doesnt really seem to matter how small the portion is or even if I eat at all, still feels tight. I am hoping that this is just a part of the healing process and hope it feels better soon. VsgMary, that is exactly how it feels! Glad I am not alone in this.
  14. So since surgery my sleeve has felt really tight and full like. It's not making me vomit or anything when I eat, just feels uncomfortable. Anyone else have this?
  15. I was sleeved on feb 8th 2012. I am on full liquids so im basically drinking protein shakes, tomato soup, and a little bit of yogurt with no chunks. I am eating 1/2 cup at a time every 2-3 hrs.
  16. I am on full liquids and wondering about making my own potato soup. If it is pureed to a liquid consistency, would it be okay?
  17. Thanks for the replies everyone. I made some today and my nut suggested adding powdered milk to increase the protein. It was good!
  18. Finally figured out how to update my profile information! LOL

2 Week Pre-Surgery Diet Starts Tomorrow

If you email different protein powder companies a lot of them will send you samples of their products for little or no money. My favorite is Chike. www.chikenutrition.com You get 5 samples for about 7 bucks. Check the diet and nutrition thread on this site under protein powders for a list of places to get samples. I am pre op so I can't speak for how you will feel after surgery. Best of luck finding a protein powder you like!

Thanks, I needed to hear this!
  23. I am getting sleeved February 8th and am also in the process of saying goodbye to foods I will no longer be able to eat after surgery. I am dreading starting the liquid diet I have to start this coming Monday, I am hoping I get used to broth and protein shakes quickly. lol

    Any diabetics with the band?

This is just the kind of info I was hoping to hear. I had been hearing so many people tell me that the lapband would not work well for diabetes that bypass was the only way to go. Being someone who tends to be a binge eater, the band sounds like a better option for me than the bypass just based on that alone. Thanks for helping me make my mind up guys!

    Any diabetics with the band?

I'm wondering if anyone has had their diabetes resolved after getting the band. I have to decide which surgery I want to have and would like to have the band as it is the least invasive option, but have heard its not so great for diabetics. Anyone advice or experience would be appreciated!
