I had my 5th fill last thursday and I feel as does my dr, that I am close to the green zone but Im not 100% sure and she could not tell me. So I guess that we will see. Congrats to everyone and good luck continuing on this wonderful life changing journey.

Hey all. I was banded in April of this year and I recently tried to eat some carrots. They did not sit well. Are all hard veggies hard to handle. What are some that yall eat? Thanks in advance Melissa

Ok, I know this is gonna sound crazy but is it possible for your port to move? I had my surgery on April 20 and up until the last couple of days my port has felt like it has been to the left of the incision. Today I noticed that my incision was very tender and it had a bump in it and it was a little red and warm to the touch. When I felt it it feels like my port is right under the incision. And I can't feel anything off to the left like I could before. Has anyone else had this happen?

Yes I saw a dr. It was infected and they have me on a high dose of antibiotics and have me changing the dressing daily. Thank u for asking and sorry it took so long to respond.
-
Well I'm thinking infection because tonight pus and blood started coming out of my incision. Not sure if I should call the doc by it being a sunday. I have an appt for a fill on Thursday but am unsure of what to do at this point. Any suggestions would b welcomed!

Had my surgery this moring at 7 and was on my way home by 11. The only pains that I have are in the upper middle of my back that I am assuming is gas and two incisions. I just can't seem to stay awake! I hope tomorrow is better.

Preop Diet. No Weight Loss.
Mel1098 replied to Boniluuu's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just talkig to my mom about this same problem. I have been on the pre op diet for 7 days and have lost 5 lbs. Those 5 lbs just happen to be the same 5 that i gained after my last weigh in at the dr. I am afraid they are going to think that I have not been doing what I am supposed to. I am allowed 4 protein shakes a day and a 3 oz piece of meat and 2 cups of raw veggies. I have been having 1 to 2 shakes a day and my meal. I am dont know if they are looking for me to lose weight or to shrink my liver, how they will know if it shrinks it totally beyond me since they have never seen it before but who knows. I was going to call my dr office tomorrow and talk to them about it but they are closed so I decided to get on here and see what everyone else had to say. -
Stated pre op diet today and surgery scheduled for April 20th. What happens if you dont drink the shakes? I have bought several different kinds and so far have only tried two of them. The atkins vanilla and choc. NASTY!!! I also have muscle milk. My question is what happens if you dont drink these?

How Long Did You Stay Home Post-Surgery ?
Mel1098 replied to Dzire's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wearing a binder helped alot. Can you please tell me what a binder is? I have a desk job and I sit for 10.5 hours a day. My surgery is scheduled for a fri and I go back to work on Sunday. I have not told anyone in the office that I am having this surgery so I am having to keep all this a secret. -
Thank you guys for all the suggestions. I am going to keep playing around with these and hopefully I will find a decent one soon. I had the muscle milk choc yesterday and it was not so bad. I just have to find a variety or I will get sick of the same ones. Thanks again and good luck to everyone.

Has anyone had the band that has thyroid disease? I had the RAI treatment done several years back and have been on thyroid meds ever since. My levels have never got back to normal nor have I felt like the old me since I had that done. My surgery is scheduled for April 6 and I'm kinda concerned about my thyroid issue and the band not helping me.

Anyone? Am I The Only One In April?
Mel1098 replied to scorpiolady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank u tahnee.... I know the feeling kerra......I had to do the whole 6 month thing. I called my dr office a few days before my last appt and the told me that my insurance was not requiring the 6 months supervised diet plan anymore. Talk about disappointment! But I don't regret it at all because I really learned a lot from it. Congrats on ur surgery date tho!!! -
Anyone? Am I The Only One In April?

Hey everyone! Just got my surgery date today for April 6th. -
My surgon said that if you have insurance he requires you to stay over night. If you dont, then it is an outpatient surgery and you go home that day unless you choose to stay.

Insurance Approval And 6 Month Supervised Diet
Mel1098 replied to lucky2bLAURA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have BCBS of Okla and I have my final 6 month appt this month. I am going to a dr in denton and they have said nothing about losing. They did frown on gaining tho. The ins lady did tell me on my last visit that as long as you have everything that is required that there is no reason to get a denial from them. I heard today at work from a girl that had her surgery a few months ago that BCBS as of Feb 1 is no longer requiring the 6 month nutritional visits. I dont think this is a good thing because I have learned so much from it. Yes, at first I was upset about it but I do feel that in the long run it was worth it. Good luck to everyone! -
Can someone please explain why the doctors expect you to lose weight before the lap band surgery? I thought that was why most people had the surgery, because they could not lose it on thier own. I know I cant. I have tried every diet out there and a lot of the diet pills as well as exercise. The harder I try the worse it gets. I am in my 4th month of the visits with the nutritionist so I am not to the point of being told that I have to lose. I guess what I want to know is what happens if you dont lose what they want you to lose before your surgery? Thanks in advance

Mel1098 replied to Mel1098's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jmat, I cant do that unless I lie becuase I am having to keep a food log and she wants me eating 3 meals a day. I ask her about the protien shakes and she told me that I didnt need to do that. That I needed to focus on solid foods. Tracy What insurance do you have if you dont mind my asking -
Weight Loss Before Lap Band Surgery
Mel1098 replied to Mel1098's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That makes sense but if you cant lose it what happens? And like I said I thought the point of this surgery was to help people lose that could not.
