Hi,
I've been lurking awhile, and wanted to reach out.
I just found out by letter today that my surgeon thinks the advantages of surgery are outweighed by the risks.
I'm 27, BMI 33, during the initial consultation my surgeon (Dr Fris in Auckland) felt that it would be a good idea to go ahead and get the blood tests, pysch & dietician consult etc. and everything was very positive. However after the group meeting about my case, they felt that at this stage they wouldn't want to go ahead with surgery.
I have a history of being overweight, tried numerous methods of losing weight, I can lose some but it always comes back with more. They want me to continue seeing the dietician etc so they can help, but I'm very upset that they don't think I should get the surgery.
I don't know if I should go ahead and find a second opinion.
Has anyone else in NZ had a similar experience?
Thanks for reading, feeling a little better sharing this with someone. :-)
