Coming Up On 4 Weeks Post-Op

Well tomorrow is the day that I'm officially four weeks out. Each day has gotten better. I am scheduled to return to work on April 15th per my job. I'm scheduled for my first fill tomorrow and yes I am nervous and scared. I'm hoping that if I need one they will hit it the first try lol. Overall life has been great, i have more energy, I started going back to the gym and I'm managing getting my protein in finally. I can say the soreness of the incisions and getting the protein in has been my biggest task. I have dealt wit the ups and downs of being newly banded. Have had dry heaving episodes x 2 early post-op but none since then. I'm tolerating regular foods without difficulty and have lost 30lbs to date. I am very proud of myself this was the best thing that I could have done for my self. Although when I look in the mirror I don't see what others see but it feels good when someone says girl you looking good the weight is really coming off. I have gotten my calorie intake up also averaging around 800-1000 calories a day and between 40-60 gm protein. It really feels good to not think about food all day, now I'm able to focus on other things. I can watch others eat and it does not bother me. I do eat low calorie snacks occasionally. If I want chocolate I eat the skinny cow wafer bars they are great and for chips I eat baked only and I just satisfy the craving not the whole bag. I have better control now than I have ever had in my life. I love being banded.

Try sleeping sitting up or in a recliner. If your pain meds aren't working tell your doctor. Sorry that you are not comfortable right now but each day will get better. Congrats and welcome to the other side.

    Friday: Lapband Thoughts

Yes we must follow the rules, see if she's open to teaming up and following the rules. If so then go for it. If she's was to continue on the same path she's on, then move on girl friend. You have to reach your own goals and let no one get in your way. Hate to be blunt but not letting no one detour me, I want to be healthy. Hop on the train or get off the next exit. Congrats on your weight loss, keep it up. Good luck.

Thanks

    March Bandsters!

Good luck, stay focused your motivation is surgery friday. Pick up where you left off and follow through, you can do this. I'm cheering for you, see you on the other side soon.
  18. Hello Sarah, Weight gain after surgery is normal, you should not be weighing in at this time can be discouraging. My first weigh in was at my post-op appt. I am 3 weeks out and still have a lot of gas, its easy to pass so I am no longer using the gas-x unless its really necessary. Itchy scar means healing, good sign. Stomach protectiveness I feel the same way, I guard mine daily and let no one touch it lol. Try focusing on healing and not weight during this phase. Welcome to the other side, good luck on your journey into becoming a healthier you.

    6Month Diet Over!!!

It varies depends on how fast your insurance approves it, and whether or not it has to be done in a hospital. My last 6 mth visit was 1/11/12 and I was banded 3/2/12 had to have my surgery in a hospital facility per insurance. Some have there's sooner, like I say it varies. Good luck.

    Pre Op Diet

Its did not get easier for me until after surgery. Although on the same liquids, you will not be hungry. By then you will be more bored of the same liquids. For those interested in protein shakes slim fast comes recommended by my doc. They have one that has 20g of protein and 4g total carb/2g net carb, 180 cal comes in chocolate and vanilla its around $6.00 for 4 but good. chill and serve. Good luck

For all inquiring about the liquid acetaminophen, you can find it on www.CVS.com and order it from there. They sell this in the local stores in Houston, it cost only $ 5.49 for an 8 oz bottle and it works great. This is the name of it CVS Extra Strength Pain Relief Adult Liquid Rapid Burst Cherry Flavor. Good luck any questions feel free to ask me. This will come in handy for minor pains, headache, fever, etc.

    March Bandsters!

I had the same fear, its really quick. They gave me a cocktail and I was so relaxed I think I was sleep before they actually put me too sleep. I prayed prior and put myself in God's hand. Til this day the last thing I remember was the cocktail. I even slept through my recovery period. Good luck.
