I have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager, even thoughI lived a healthy lifestyle. i didn't always make the best choices, but I watched what I ate and was active. However, as I got older, the weight just kept coming off. I put my heart and soul into a healthy diet and frequent work out schedule. But saw little or no results. I also was feeling tired a lot and just not feeling well overall. My BMI was at the cusp of obese, but my physician suggested that I look into the Lap Band. I had a struggle with insurance and over 5 denials due to my BMI and no serious medical conditions. I had 3 professional opinions, and my own determination, to know that this surgery was for me! I have tried so hard to lose weight on my own, I needed assistance. So I actually gained weight in order to be approved by my insurance. I gained almost 30 lbs just so I could get the surgery. Well, after about 12 months of gaining this weight and being denied AGAIN, I went in for a sleep study since I was so exhausted all the time. It turned out I had sleep apnea. So I submitted this to my insurance company and was approved immediately. I had a surgery date schedule within the month and now I am about 7 months post surgery!
