    Just Had Surgery 2/17/12

Congratulations on your decision to change your life. I have had my band over three years now and I would NOT change a thing. Do everything that your Doctor tells you to do and dont listen to the garbage out there. It is a life changing event and if you follow the advice of your Dr you will do just fine. I was an insulin dependent type II diabetic when I got my band I wore an insulin pump for over 10 yrs taking approx 100 units a day via pump.... I am well no longer requiring any medication at all. It is an awesome journey. If you look at it as a life change and have your mindset right you can do it! Good luck to you.

    Tricare Prime-6 Month Wait

I had Tricare when I had the lapBand and everything was approved very smoothly. My Psych Eval was completed by a lady who was post Gastric Bypass and she knew the right questions to ask and it went very easy as well. Tricare paid off very well.

    Disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was very fortunate to have Tricare and was approved on the first attempt with my letter however,I do know that there are many that have to self pay. It is the best thing that i have ever done for my self. It is worth every sacrifice that you will have to make if you are mentally prepared to do it for you........

    Surgery Is Monday!

You will learn to laugh a lot at yourself on this journey but it is great! I told Dr Kureshi that he was the instrument that God used to give me the miracle that I had prayed for so long.....The lapband is a tool, if you take control immediately and do what the Dr says to do you will be successful on the trip.

    Surgery Is Monday!

I just want to encourage you and let you know that you have the right frame of mind for the band to be a real success for you! Prayers for a successful journey......
  6. I had my lapband placed 3 yrs ago never regretting a day of it...I have done exceptionally well and have kept my weight off and controlled for the past three yrs. I was on an insulin pump for over 10 yrs and I no longer take anything whatsoever for diabetes because it disappeared along with the extra weight...I have my life back and I am in control of my weight...Best decision that could have made.......You must be ready mentally for it to a be a success.......
  7. Hello everyone I was banded in Nov 2008 and have had a very successful journey for the most part with very few setbacks. Most recently though I have gained 3-4 pounds which I do not want to do. It seems that I have a problem with regurgitation and then I find Ice Cream to be soothing to my stomach. Any suggestions? I started out with over 100 lbs to lose and have done very well til recently. I have noticed how easily it would be to slide backwards and have a horrific fear of doing this. I am at 7.5 cc in my band and really dont think I need a fill at this time.
  8. I am glad to hear there are others who have tried the liquids to get back on track. I have been very successful with my band until recent and have gained 3-4 lbs so I am going to try the liquids. I have 7.5cc in my band and I do have the problem with regurgitation at times. Sweets and Ice Cream are so very lapBand friendly. Frustrating when you want a real meal and nothing will go down or stay down till you eat something that you are not suppose to eat.

I see no reason why you cannot start the journey over. Good luck to you.
