Kansas City Area Sleevers?

Welcome NewKristen. Good luck on your journey. -
These are my before and almost there photos. I have 22 pounds to go but I've been at this weight for a while now, just losing inches slowly. This has been an amazing journey that I wouldn't trade for the world.

I had surgery November 2011 and lost almost all the weight the first 8 months. The last several months have been toning up and losing inches but the weight doesn't seem to want to move yet. I'm 5'7" and I started out 257, currently about 172. I have dropped 2 pants sizes in the time that I wasn't losing weight so I'm happy with that. I've gone from a size 20/22 to a 12. -

Thank you, I feel so much better. I take title boxing classes 3 times a week and I've never been in better shape. I'm more active at my age than I thought I would be. We are going to Disney World this summer and it's nice knowing I will fit on all the rides and be able to walk all over the parks for several days. -

Lacy, I live in Independence also but I'm in gladstone every other weekend. Allnewme, they have mocha big train at sams club in gladstone and its cheaper than their website! -
I was too low on carbs and calories!
bikerchick519 replied to kimirg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That seems like a lot for carbs. My paperwork said between 60-80 carbs but that is a real struggle for me. It's usually around 80-110. I also use mfp. Maybe I will try to increase my carbs and see if that helps. -
The story of an impatient chick in Kansas City
bikerchick519 replied to Holiday's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There's a group of us that have met at a coffee shop in Lee's Summit a couple of times and they have the Fit Frappe by Big Train. It tastes just like hot chocolate and now I make it at work all the time. It's my new favorite protein drink. I'm up for meeting anywhere in the area. -
I have free weights and a kettle bell but my favorite is the resistance bands. You can go from one exercise to the next without ever skipping a beat and you really feel it working. I also do title boxing and that is an awesome workout for the whole body but my arms are just worn out when I'm done.

We need to get our group back together in Lee's Summit or even somewhere else would be nice. -
New guy here, you've GOT to read this!

I haven't been on here much lately since I'm over a year out. It's sad that there are so many negative things on here now because when I first got on here it was very postive and extremely helpful. I also had the best experience, the easiest surgury and recovery you can imagine. People need to hear the great stories. This surgery changed my life and I feel awesome now even though I still have a little ways to go. Good luck to you. -
will I ever be able to guzzle or drink water normally post gastric sleeve
bikerchick519 commented on MDJ141's blog entry in MDJ141's Blog
you will be able to drink a lot more as time goes by. I think I can drink normally now and have been able to for quite a while. I take boxing classes and get really thirsty and I can take huge drinks to keep me going. -
Should I be worried?
bikerchick519 replied to msmomrules's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear about all your troubles. Moving around helps with the gas trapped in there but mostly you just have to wait it out I think. I would take the extra time off work if you can afford it. No need to rush back if you don't have to. I had a really easy recovery but I'm sure others will have better advise. Good luck to you. -
Costco has a jalapeno greek yogurt dip that is awesome. I use it with all kinds of meat as a dip or on top as a spead. It's even good with veggies.

I was in a bad car wreck 7 weeks ago today. I broke one ankle and sprained the other. The orthopedic dr. cleared me to go back to title boxing today but I'm nervous. It's such an intense workout with lots of running, lunges, squats and more. Both ankles are still a little sore. I will try to ease into it and hope I don't reinjure it. Wish me luck!

Drinking After Vsg
bikerchick519 replied to healthiermom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a glass of wine once in a while and it doesn't bother me but I have a sleeve of steel I think. I've tried other things and they don't bother me either but I had a bad reaction with a margarita, but I think that was because I was eating and drinking it at the same time. -
I'm sure many of you saw the Dr. Oz episode with Chis Powell and his high carb/low carb days. I've read and heard alot about this and was wondering if anyone has tried it and if it seems to work. Of course our high carb days would probably still be less than the average person. I've printed out the shopping list and his recipes. I think I'll give it a try.

I finally got the cast off my foot and still can't go to the gym because now I have a cold and can't stop coughing. Dang!

I was in the same boat as you with the weight up and down. This surgery is the best thing I've ever done for myself and I wish I could have done it years ago. It's so awesome to know I will never be that big again. -

Pre-Op Liquid Diet Question.
bikerchick519 replied to yanik's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a rough time but after the first 10 days it got way easier for me as I had adjusted to the diet. Here's a phrase I borrowed from theworldaccordingtoeggface, "Don't give up what you want most for what you want at the moment". That really helped me get through for some reason. Stay strong. -
I am also a slow loser and a lover of coffee. Check out drinkclick.com. It's a protein drink mix with espresso. It's awesome mixed with water and ice in the blender. Better than Starbucks Frappaccinno. I can't get it quite right hot but blended it's great.
