I had a lap band 4 years ago, and lost 100 pounds within two years. I had 130 total to lose. I have not felt hunger the last two years, since I had my last adjustment. I have gained 20 pounds over the last 2 years, even though I barely eat. I am confused as to why I am gaining weight. I don't want to get another adjustment because I know I don't eat enough as it is now. I am not sure what to do.

4 years post op questions

I have coffee with cinnamon, honey and coconut oil in the morning. I can't eat anything because it comes back up if I do. I can eat mid morning, and I have some granola. I usually eat Beenie weenies, tuna with crackers, or fruit cocktail for lunch. Just one of those though, not all 3! I will usually have soup for dinner. I drink a lot of chocolate milk and snack on peanut butter crackers or popcorn. I know I am eating less than 1000 calories a day, but I can't eat more! -

I was told that once I had lap band surgery I could no longer drink pop, or any carbonated drink. I am almost 1 year post op, and have not drank any, however, I've seen some protein shake recipes that call for Diet Coke. Do you guys drink pop? Will it hurt anything if I do? The ONLY thing I actually miss since my surgery is Diet Mt. Dew!!!

I am almost 1 year post lap band surgery (Aug. 26, 2010). My doctor gives me a fill every 2 months. I had a fill 3 weeks ago and have had absolutely no appetite since. I am having to force myself to eat. I've lost 41 pounds total, and 9 of those have been in the last 3 weeks. Is this normal?

Dr. Adam Smith - Lap band with no insurance
karnott57 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Do any of you know of a doctor who would be willing to do lap band surgery on a vet for free? I have a friend who lives in Cedar Hill who needs the surgery. He is a pastor with no insurance, and VA will not cover the surgery. Anyone have any idea where he can go to get some help? -
Nikki, my doctor has told me that my weight loss amount has been perfect. He does not want me losing it fast. Over the course of the last year I have averaged about 1 pound a week, and that's where he wants to keep it. He told me a slower rate is healthier, safer, and will give my skin time to adjust. He also will not give me more than 1cc at a time. I'm happy with my weight loss. It does seem to be coming off a LOT faster since my last adjustment though...lol Thanks for the replies folks. I will quit worrying about not having an appetite and just enjoy it...lol

This was fill #5, and I believe I am at 6 cc, but I am not positive. Fill #4 was too tight and he ended up taking 0.5 cc out the next day. That was 2 months ago. This last fill, 3 weeks ago, he put that half cc back in and although I am tolerating it this time, I have no appetite whatsoever.

My doctor will not do more than 1 cc at a time. I think that is pretty standard.
