I am a sleeve to MGB. I don’t have reflux but suffer from ulcers. I am below my target weight. I did have bile reflux like you with the sleeve. That is the worst. Who did your surgery?

I am below my goal by 5 lbs. Smaller than even in high school. I feel great and if I ask Dr. Illan a question he always answers. -

Dr. Illan is a top notch surgeon. He did my MGB. Plus the hospital and staff were better than any care I received in the states. -

You are doing great. I am also a sleeve to MGB. I have been losing with the MGB much better than the sleeve. My starting weight before MGB was 240 and today I weighed 163. I am really excited to get this low. My goal is 150. I am 5' 7". -
7 week Sleeve to MGB before/after pic
FloraBama Girl replied to NuHorizons's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
My high weight was 269. I had the sleeve that cause my reflux to get worse and I could not lose any weight. Since The mini gastric bypass I am down to 163 my lowest weight since high school long ago. I fit into a size 10 business suit today and just about cried. They left photo was taken right before my revision surgery and the right one last week. -
Looks like they should at least had a hematologist and GI consult with you. I have an enlarged spleen from a genetic problem that causes my blood cells to break down quickly. When that happens the spleen cleans up the material left behind. A normal person's spleen handles this because the cells die at a normal rate. The spleen acts as a filter so when it becomes enlarged there usually is a reason. Your PCP should take this more serious.

New BariatricPal Tracking App! What Features Do You Want?

It needs to factor in exercise daily totals. I like everything listed above. Also able to connect with other users. -

This is the best group of individuals. You are their jobs. They all love their jobs too. Please be generous with tipping they desire it. Anytime I left my room a valet was there to walk with me. When you get to the hotel there is a valet for you there. -
If I was paying out of pocket I would get WLS in Mexico. I went in 2016 and paid 5499 for a mini gastric bypass. They take really good care of you too.

For $5500 you can go to Mexico and get a sleeve or bypass. I would never do the ballon.

I am. I had VGS in 2011 and gastric bypass in 2016 in Mexico. Wish we had a support group more central to Orlando. -
Bariatric surgeon in Mexico?
FloraBama Girl replied to Beeks's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
The surgeon applies to be a member of the AMBS. I think it misleads people into thinking some board or committee elected the member on their merits. i think the comments made by the patients of Dr. Illan speak better than a member of the AMBS. -
Yup, dealing with a marginal ulcer almost since surgery last July. Will be having surgery to fix it May 5th. I have the mini bypass.

Might be a weird question....
FloraBama Girl replied to painish's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
When they receive your medical history and you pay your surgery amount you can decide when you want surgery. Depepending on your BMI would determine the length of you pre-op diet. If I had paid immediately I still had a 10 day pre-op. With BariatricPal you have a year to complete paying for your surgery. You do have to have completely paid before your surgery date. This is how it relates to BariatricPal. I am sure all the TJ Baritastic centers are similar. Hope this give an idea. -

What to do about complications?
FloraBama Girl replied to 50yearoldme's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I have a marginal ulcer. There is really no reason for it. My GI doctor had no problem treating me. My PCP has been with me all the way. Dr. Illan has replied to any questions I have asked. My surgery was 7/28/16. -
I'VE DECIDED! Dr. Illan it is!
FloraBama Girl replied to fatgirlfreed's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
You will be in very good hands. I told my GI doctor it was like a vacation and she added "and you get skinny". -

FloraBama Girl replied to vickialess's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi Vicki, Dr. Illan did my mini gastric surgery and has provide support since surgery. He is so nice and caring you could not find a finer surgeon. He will answer any questions or concerns you have and follow up when he needs. I would not trust my surgery to anyone except Dr. Illan. -

Seeking Information on Mini Gastric Bypass
FloraBama Girl replied to luv2bslim's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
I would recommend the MGB for less surgery time and less complications. It has gotten rid of my acid reflux and I am losing weight again. With the sleeve I had easy regain and couldn't pay to lose any of it. I measured food, lifted weights, did cardio and would lose nothing. I am at 203having regained to 239. So I have lost 36 pounds since the start of the revision process. I would be losing more but I have a bad knee that swells and hurts when I exercise. When I get below 200 I will see about getting my knee fixed. It is bone on bone. -
Seeking Information on Mini Gastric Bypass

Google Dr. Rutledge. He has a ton of YouTube videos on MGB. I was a sleeve to MGB and my weight has been going down since surgery on July 28. My sleeve was not successful either. I used BariactricPal MX for my surgery in Tijuana.
