I was so worried the night before surgery, I couldn't sleep. I had many of the same worries you do. That was three months ago. I am 50lbs lighter and sooo happy with my lapband. You are doing the right thing. God bless

Certainly you can hold some one's hand during this journey, but you have to do the walking. I think what was meant is that we need to be responsible for what happens and how we use this new opportunity that is presented to us. Support and encouragement, we all need it. But the actions are up to ourselves. No body can do it for you. You need to do it by yourself and for yourself, because you are worth it,

Lapband: Compatible With Prior Surgery?
DiMarie replied to TennesseeBarrister's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having another laproscopic surgery would not increase your risk, I had laproscopic surgery years ago and was banded last Friday with no complications. It was never considered a risk that I had a similar procedure in the past. I also have a BMI under 40, but because of High Blood pressure and cholesterol,my insurance approved the surgery. Good luck to you! -
Gotta Quit Smoking...
DiMarie replied to KathyOfAlabama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit smoking a year and a half ago. I know your pain. Maybe you could try Chantix or Zyban? -
I recently had a conversation with a nurse friends who told me she would love to work with bariatric patients. I asked her why and she said, "Because I have so much respect and admiration for people who love themselves enough to make this decision for their health", I remember that when I feel frustrated and want to give up. Remember how strong you are and your commitment and love for yourself and your health. You can do it, because you are worth it.

I am four days post op and I keep thinking about food. I am trying to shift my thoughts, but I am struggling. This clear liquid diet really sucks. Maybe tomorrow will be better. -
Beginning Of A New Life
DiMarie replied to betsylulu2525's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had surgery on the 23rd. The gas pains come and go, but are getting better. Lots of tummy growling and some diarrhea . Feeling stronger every day. I am 58, and have grandchildren. I went through a 12 year period of infertility in my 20's . I have 3 children, 2 adopted and 1 I gave birth to. I believe we are destined to go on many journeys in our lives, and almost none of them are what we had planned for us. I have learned to hang on to God's hand during my journey. He has guided me through them and also provided some very nice rest stops along the way. Betsylulu, I believe you are on the correct path in your journey. Seems like you have made thoughtful and correct decisions. God's direction will be with you and you will have a very fufilling successful life! -
48 Hours Post Lap Band Surgery And I Feel Like I'm Going To Starve To Death
DiMarie replied to Fork-in-the-Road's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 23rd and Christmas dinner at my sister's smelled and looked so good. My chicken broth, however, was not so good. I appreciate every ones thoughts as they go through the same phases as I am. I like the term "mental hunger". have that, I know that having the band will take me to a different relationship with food..the road may be long and rocky at times, but I will get there! Good luck to all! -
