At 252 pounds and after trying countless weight loss methods, I talked to a friend of mine who had had a lap band and she told me about her success and satisfaction with the surgery. Most people look at me and say "You don't really look like you needed it" but my main motivation for doing this is because I have diabetes, a co-morbidity that has limited me for too long. I want to be healthier both inside and out and I learned that almost all incidences of weight loss with the lap band on people with diabetes have resulted in no longer needed to take injections, pills, or even completely getting rid of their diabetes. So I got my lap band. And as of right now, I've lost 17 pounds, which is 17 pounds I'd never thought I'd see go away and I'm so happy with the results so far. I hope to reach my goal of 150 lbs at a slow and steady pace. :)
