  1. I know some of you guys have had plastic surgery after the weight loss. I am just starting the PS search and research. Who did you guys use in the area? Thanks Jonathan

    Dr. Charles Morton

Hey, I just moved to the Nashville area from KC. I was banded almost 2 years ago by Dr. Malley in KC. I was looking for a surgeron's office here to develop a relationship. In talking with the Allergen rep via Dr. Malley's office, they gaveme Dr. Morton's name. Can anyone on here vouch for him or let me know if he does support groups or anything? Thanks
  3. I had lapband almost one year ago in Kansas City, KS. My family and I are looking to move to the LR area this year. Just wondering if you guys can recommend a LR area Dr. I can move to for follow up and fill maintenance? Thanks
  4. Thanks for the link. I didn't find any info for the meetings on that page so I called them. She gave me the center's number and I got a web page from them and the meeting times. Here is the link if anyone else is looking welcome to Middle Tennessee Medical Center | Hospital Services | Bariatrics/Weight Loss | Support Groups

    Dr. Charles Morton

Just as an update, I can tell you what I found from talking to Dr. Morton's office. He is probably not the Dr. you want to go to if you are just looking for maintenance if another Dr did your surgery. He wanted 500.00 for a fill. At that price it's a lot cheaper to drive back and forth to my Dr. in KC. He only charges 100.00 for a fill. Oh well, maybe they have a support group that is open to all patients. That is what I am most interested in anyway.
  6. Hey I am new to the area and live in Smyrna. How can I find out more about the support group you mentioned? Is there a web site or anything?

    Kansas City area Plastic Surgery

Hey Diane! I haven't seen you in a while. I did get to see Dr. C at the Malley Bandwangon meeting. It was great. He of course focused only on female patients but short of the breast stuff, it all applies. I am sure some of us have moobs (man boobs) we want to get rid of too. I am thinking of calling Dr. C to do a consult and just see what he says. The skin is starting to really bug me. I am sure it is all in my head but I just want it gone. Did you greatly change the size clothes you wore once the swelling went down?
  8. I used to live in Nashville and in the process of trying to move back there. I am about 18 months post band. Looking for some recommendations on Docs in the area for fills and if there are any support groups that are open to other patients. I was banded in Kansas City by Dr. Malley. Love him and staff but that is a bit far to commute for fills if I need them. Thanks

Do You Always Feel The Band?

i don't think i ever actually felt the band itself. I feel the port of course and even 18 months out I still run my hand over it without thinking about it. Weird I know.
  10. Any of the guys on here had plastic surgery? What did you have done and how long after reaching your goal did you have it done? Trying to gauge when and what I should have done. I know I need it to get rid of the skin issues but the skin is in places that I don't ever see mentioned in the other plastic surgery sections if you know what I mean. Thanks

    Chiropractic adjustsments

I started seeing one about 5 months ago. I lost about 130 pounds before I went to see him. It's been great. He was pretty baffled about the lap band at first. He had a ton of questions for me too. But its been a great experience. I would recommend it.

    Ask Dr. Schulman...

Dr. S. I haven't seen any guy posts on here. What is the most common surgery for men post weight loss. I am thinking it is similiar to the TT stuff already mentioned. I lost about 130 pounds. I keep telling my wife I have another 50 to go but she disagrees. She thinks 30 tops. Anyway, the extra skin is the problem now of course. Thoughts Jonathan

Best Dr. in Little Rock area?

Does Dr. Wellborn have a web site? Good luck on the surgery. Both you guys look like you are just getting ready to go here! Good for you guys! It's a rollercoaster so make sure the bar is firmly on your lap. Or like me everything was firmly on you! HA

    I am ticked

what's the story? I haven't heard anything and we go to the same place. PM if you need to.
  15. Just wondering if any of you have set some short term goals in the journey we have laid out ahead of us. Wondering if anyone would be interested in maybe starting a tracking of mini goals we set for ourselves over the month or something. Anyone up for it?
  16. I know that title of the forum seems an impossible dream. I don't have a lot more than 200 to lose but my original personal goal was to lose 201 pounds. My original start weight was 400. I wanted to get under 200 pounds so I picked the easiest number to get to. In further research and talking with my regular Dr. I think my real target is going to be between 180 - 190. She said I should target 190-210. To get to a normal BMI I have to make 175. I am not sure with my body fat % I can get that low but we shall see. For now we are baby stepping to 150 pound loss. Once I get there I will no longer qualify for surgery for BMI anyway. Full steam ahead!

    Oh My! Twenty Five Inches!

    That is awesome!

    Anyone looking to lose 300+?

Wow! You guys have me in awe. My most to lose is 225 to get to a normal BMI, 175 pounds. Not sure that is a realistic goal for me yet but as I lose I seem to keep moving my end goal. I find the only way to move forward is to focus on the baby steps. We can do this together!

The waiting... is the hardest part

The only way to speed it up is to go self pay. I am in KC area too and my company didn't cover any of it last year so I had to self pay. I had my consult at the end of January and surgery at the end of Feb. Dr. Malley wasted no time. If I had the option to get part of it covered I would have loved to save 50% but it is still every bit worth it.

That seems like the impossible dream!

for me the first 80 came off pretty quickly. After that it definitely slows down. I have noticed that my body has put the weight loss on hold while it is "shifting" things around. I notice that my clothes are fitting differently even though the scale isn't moving. I am ok with it. If this had happened to me a lot earlier I would have been horribly frustrated. I am a little disappointed as I had hoped to make 150 pound loss by my bandiversarry at the end of Feb. It could still happen as I have had months in the 20 pound loss. But right now I am thrilled with the progress this far.

    Hello from Missouri

Wow that is going to be a challenge with fills and being on the road. I am sure you already talked it over with your doctor. Good luck and welcome to the board.
  22. jbtullis

That seems like the impossible dream!

My starting BMI was 55.8 so a BMI of 25 seemed completely unrealistic; however, now my BMI is 38.4. 25 still seems a long way away, but not quite as far as before.

    New forum

I am 34 and live in Kansas. I was banded Feb 27, 2007. So far I have lost 124 pounds. I started out at 400. I think I am the first guy to post in here too. Glad to see the new area here. My goal is to have all the weight loss completed by the end of 2008. I have somewhere around 100 more pounds to go for normal BMI, but I will be happy at 199!

    Exercise

hey has anyone looked at the MAP testing to find the right heart rate you should exercise at to lose weight? I go to Lifetime fitness and they had me do it but that was a while ago. Wondering if anyone has any experience with it or thoughts on it. Thanks
  25. I can't believe I managed it, but I actually managed to keep my band a secret from family during the holidays. We don't live very close to our family so they don't physically see us often. They knew I lost some weight this year. In fact they knew clothes sizes as well as exact loss amounts. When they asked about it they assumed it was a diet and the gym. I didn't tell them different and chalked a lot of it up to South Beach. It was an easy explanation about not eating any bread in front of them. It's not far from the truth anyway. How about you guys are keeping it on the down low? Did you get outed this holiday season? I was worried a bit as some friends the family met this trip know. But we made it. It was great to hear the compliments and wows though. Probably the best part of Christmas to me.
