Hi!
I am brand new to this VSG forum. I am scheduled for VSG surgery on 08-17-11 in Mexico with Dr. Almanza.
On this forum, I read a lot of the comments under the 'pre-op diet' topic. Apparently, shrinking and softening the liver pre-surgery helps to reduce and/or prevent risks of laparoscopic surgical complications, such as lacerations to the liver and bleeding. My gallbladder was removed in 2008, so since then my liver has had to handle filtering and metabolizing all of the unhealthy high-fat food choices on its own.
In addition to following the mandatory 5-day pre-op diet (clear liquids, jello, etc) and the laxative 3 days pre-op, is it also advisable to do a 7-day herbal liver cleanse? Thank you.
