Did you crave any foods, tastes after surgery?
ImdownwithVSG posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had surgery last week and now I want to eat scrambled eggs and spices so bad, it is driving me crazy. I keep imagining scrambled eggs with salsa or some kind of seasoning on them. I have always liked eggs, but have never craved them. Do you have any cravings? -
Just wondering if anyone has been able to eat cereal with milk and keep it down. Cereal is one of the things that I miss and I am wondering if anyone has tried it. I am 5 weeks out.

Ideas: How to Save Money eating at Restaurants...
ImdownwithVSG replied to pumpkin07's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Never pay full price on restaurant.com! They always have 80 and 90% off codes. Just check on sites like couponmountain.com. You can also buy restaurant.com gift certificates on discount. You can buy a $100,00 gift certificate around 4-8 dollars that you can use at another time. Also, I always order Water and take those sugar free flavor packs in. -
Surgeons in Eastern NC?
ImdownwithVSG replied to GonnaRide's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
So I am guessing that you are in the Outer Banks. I have made it from Nags Head to Raleigh in 3 hours. I think it is well worth the drive to Raleigh or Cary to find a good surgeon. Much close than Mexico without all of the worry about those drug gangs kidnapping people from the US. Call Progress Weight Loss Surgery in Raleigh and tell them Mike W. sent you. I had surgery with them a few weeks ago and they are great! Dr. Henderson is new to the area, but not surgery. I am so glad that I found him at a healh fair during the summer. www.progressweightloss.com -

VSG'ers with 100+ lbs to lose
ImdownwithVSG replied to a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am trying to lose about 230 lbs. Just got sleeved last week. Just hope to keep losing! -
I had surgery on November 10th and lost 17 pounds this week. That brings my total to about 40 lbs. in the last month, pre and post op! Looking forward to this journey!

Mine was at 3:00. They told me I could eat/frink until 9:00 a.m. I had to get the the hospital by 1:00. That was my first surgery, but I think I would rather have it later. The morning gave me time to get some things done such as cleaning for when I came home and a few other errands that I got to do without feeling to rushed.

My VSG Journey!
ImdownwithVSG replied to ImdownwithVSG's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So you are 3 days out. I left the hospital on the afternoon of day 3. I was feeling o.k., but not the best. On Sunday, I felt like a whole new person. Protein and walking really make a huge difference. I started walking in the mall for a couple of days and yesterday I walked 2 1/2 miles and that made me feel awesome! Don't worry, you will feel better! -

Forget the Magic Bullet! Buy this, it is cheaper and works just as well if not better. I got mine from Target for $17.99 and it is awesome! http://wize.com/blenders/p438025-bella-cucina-12-piece-rocket

Being a "Public Figure" should I be proactive or reactive in telling people?
ImdownwithVSG posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Maybe someone can help me with this. Becasue of my profession, I am pretty well know where I live. I am not trying to sound concieted or cockey or anything like that, but a whole lot of people know who I am and have for several years. It is obvious that I am bigger that the obvious person. :frown1: When I start losing weight, I will be doing so in the public eye where tens of thousands of people will see me every week. I was thinking of having my journey documented and then shown a few weeks after surgery before the questions start coming about what I am doing. Now what if I go that route and the weight loss does not happen as it should? In your opinion would that be worse than answering the question "How are you losing weight" countless times. Sorry about being so vague, but I do not know who is reading these boards and I do not want to reveal my idenity right now, but I eventually will. Don't worry, in the end you will be like "Oh it's only you,big deal!" :biggrin2: Has anyone had an experience similar to mine? Thanks! -
Being a "Public Figure" should I be proactive or reactive in telling people?

I had my surgery on the 10th and I am feeling good. I am glad I informed as many people as possible, not only to be an ambassador for WLS, but with so many prayers, I knew I was going to be alright! Now for who I am. Try to contain your excitement! lol. I work for the 2006 Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes as a member of the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad. We are very active during, before and after the games talking to people, doing promotions, doing charity work in the communutym, cheering on the Canes during the gam,e intermission activities on the ice and more. The thousands and thousands of people who see me every game would defunately see my weight loss. I think I did a good job of informing people, though I know there will still be quesrions. I think word of mouth from others is going to help me out. The Hurricanes' television announcers even gave an update during our game broadcast Wednesday against the Flyers. The first picture is of me at Busch Gardens in the summer. I was about 455 in this picture. This picture is of me at a Wolfpack football game in Ocotober weighing in at around 470. This is a picture that I took right before I walked out of the door to head to the hospital. Weight around 450. That jersey was given to me by Reebok, but I have never been able to wear it. -

I decided to tell as many people as possible. All of my family, personal friends and all of my facebook friends. I am also going to post it on the team's message board. This way, I will not have to answer as many questions about what I am doing and instead I can help educate people about WLS. -

Top 10 reasons to have VSG surgery
ImdownwithVSG replied to ImdownwithVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a few more. Being able to put my shirts in the dryer without having to put my knees in to get them to fit. A pair of shoes will last me more than 30 days. Be able to get out of chair without rocking back and fourth 10 times to gain momentum. So I can finally use that Pedi-egg on the bottom of my feet and not just the sides. So I can adjust the seat in my car while I am in it and not before I get in. -

Anyone had a problem getting as much time off as they want?
ImdownwithVSG posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey all, this is my first post and I apoligize in advance if I am posting too much here at the beginning. I am so excited about my surgery! I am planning on asking the doctor for about 6 to 8 weeks off. I want to have time to be able to "eat" at home and get used to it, as well as walking everyday. Has anyone else taken this much time or did anyone have a problem getting that much time off? Thanks! -
That is where I am right now. I have always been pretty active or I would probably be about 600 lbs or more now. Recently, my back has really began hurting and limiting my hysical activity. I have done all of the pre-op bloodwork, doctor's visits, nutritionist.............etc. I am just waiting to hear back from insurance for my surgery date. That's all for now. More to come later!

Luckily, I have supplemental insurance that will kick in in day 7 of my time-off and pay me my full salary. Otherwise, I would not even consider. I guess if I got bored, I could always go back to work early.
