    Starting my ESG journey!

I went well. I was back at work on monday after my sx on a Thursday. I have not had any issues. I lost about half the weight in 3 months and I lost the other half in 3 more months but I did take Mounjaro for 2 months to help me get the rest of the weight off. My surgeon prescribed it for me. It made me sick and constipated so I quit taking it. I was close enough to goal anyway and finished the rest by myself. I have maintained now for a month.

    4 month update from ESG

They didnt remove any this time. They only sewed it up tighter from the inside like a corset.

    4 month update from ESG

I had endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty.... they sewed it tighter from the inside using an endoscope. They dont cut anything so they dont call it surgery. Its outpatient. It kind of looks like a corset or shoelaces and cinches it up so the diameter is what is was after the first sleeve and it also makes it a little shorter too so you are full quicker and stay full longer. Its a great option for a revision if you have stretched it a bit and are holding more food now and eating more often. I am almost to goal 4 months post op from this revision of my sleeve.
  5. I was originally sleeved 8/11/11. I lost 100 pounds. Starting weight was 232, made my goal 13 months later at 135. After 8 years of weighing at or near goal, I had a lot of family tragedies and I gained about 47 pounds back. My highest weight from regain was 182. It was a slow gain over about 4 years or so. I had an ESG done to make my stomach back to the original sleeve size on 9/8/22, 11 years later. Its been 4 months and two holidays. Today I weigh 143. I am a normal BMI (145). So in summary, I have lost about 39 pounds with the ESG. I have few more I want to lose but its going great so far. My goal is to lose 11 more and make it back to my original goal weight I made for myself (132). My ESG surgeons goal for me was 145 and I have reached that already. I am more comfortable in the 130s however because I weighed that for about 7 years after my original sleeve. I just thought some of you would like to know what the progress has been a few months out from the procedure. No issues so far. I do have a little nausea occasionally but I don't eat very much food at all. Its kind of like the amount I ate when I was first sleeved. Hope this helps someone!

    Starting my ESG journey!

It was 5995 and I had it in Buckhead. It was at IBI institute. Loved them! They were so nice and accommodating. I had all my visits Telehealth so I only had to go there for the actual surgery and follow up the next day.

Anyone else do a VSG to ESG?

I want to get back to my original goal weight which is 135. Im 5'4" tall. I stayed between 130 and 135 for almost 7 years. I slowly gained over the past 5 years til I reached 182. On surgery day, I weighed 177. My starting weight from the very beginning was 235 so we are close in stats! I have about 30 pounds to go. I just started on regular food because my doctor put me on clears for 10 days instead of 2 days and 2 weeks for each stage after that. I have a little trouble getting all the water in but its helping me not to retain so much water. My body loves to store the water that I drink, if I dont get enough for it to decide I am not in a desert. lol. Good luck with whatever dicision you make. I am rooting for you to get to goal even if you dont have a revision. I am keeping my carbs low and protein high. They say I dont have a set goal for carbs but I try to keep it under about 40.

Anyone else do a VSG to ESG?

Hey! I just had the ESG last month after having a VSG 11 years ago. I had gained back 45 of the 110 pounds I lost in the last few years. Im loving it so far! restored my sleeve to its original size and shortened it. Its very cost effective and only one or two days of any discomfort. I never took a pain pill. I am down 20 pounds, 15 since day of surgery 5 weeks ago. I highly recommend it! I was very strict with the rules though and just got on regular food yesterday. I am a Physician Assistant in Neurosurgery so I work in healthcare and I do not recommend the bypass. I see lots of patients with almost 100 percent regain of weight and a lot of vomiting. Not everyone, but its something to consider. The anemia is another concern with the bypass.

    Starting my ESG journey!

Hi! I had an ESG September 8th, 2022. I am about 5 weeks out and just started regular food yesterday. I was already sleeved 11 years ago and had gained back about 45 pounds. I had lost 110 originally. I have lost about 20 pounds now, 15 since surgery day. I am just starting my second journey but so far so good. I had it at IBI in Atlanta. The first day was a little uncomfortable and I rested a lot. I never took any pain meds though. I was afraid they would make me sick since we cant eat solid food yet. It cost about 6k dollars. They were having a special and I think they always do. lol. I have been happy with them and my care so far. I do all my visits telemedicine. I drove to Atlanta, had surgery the next morning, followed up the next day and then drove home. I live about 6 hours away. Two hotel nights . Hope that helps! Welcome!

    Re-sleeve

It's an endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty or esg. It is done from the inside of the stomach with no surgery. Only sutures placed to bring the sleeve back to its original size.

    Re-sleeve

I had a sleeve in 2011. I had an Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty revision two weeks ago because I gained 45 of the 100 I lost back and was struggling with my sleeve. It was stretched a bit and I was eating too many carbs. I had to do something. So far I am on full liquids and its going well. Its like a resleeve but they do it from the inside with sutures so Its not as invasive. Easy recovery. I had some gas pains but they were not that bad. By day three I was doing really good. I had it on a Thursday and went back to work Monday.
  13. Hi all. I used this forum for support during my VSG journey. It took me 13 months to get to goal. I was 234 and made it to 135 in 2012. I kept that off for the most part for about 7 years but slowly gained 10 pounds a year for the last few years. I weighed 177 when I had ESG revision two weeks ago tomorrow. I have lost to 169 so far. I want to be a part of this forum again. It helped me so much the first time. I only have 35 pounds to lose now. I hope to make it there by February. About 6 months. Who else has had this done? I am retaining fluid because Im on full liquids and they are salty! I am struggling to get the water in like usual but Im making a more concerted effort this time. Let me know if any one else has had this or is interested in it. Thanks guys!
  14. The old jeans from back in the day were cut different than today. See how long that zipper is? Those are classic cut jeans that were made for women with small waists, true waists. Jeans today have a very short zipper and the so called waist is really about mid-hip. Of course its going to have to be wider in that area. I have found since I am 46 years old, that when I was in college and weighed 135-145, I wore a size 5 and some 7's in junior sizes. I wear a 4/6 now at the same weight in misses. When I am closer to 135 the 4's fit better and the 6's closer to 145. I have not found anything I cant wear in those sizes and I have been at or near goal for 2 years. I think a lot if the problem is the cut has changed so much! AND now they add spandex to the jean material so we can squeeze in smaller sizes due to the extra stretch! lol I know I was a size 20 when this all started and I bought all stretch to make that possible. I really should have worn a 22 but refused to. I think we have all been there before. I want to tell you though, that when I first started reading these boards, there was a woman who claimed to wear a 4 jeans, even had a picture of her squeezed in them with the tag showing the size, but she weighed 170-180 pounds and i was like there is NO freaking way. They must be missized. I dont care who you are or how your body is shaped, there is no way a woman, and she was short like me, could possibly say she wears a size 4 at that weight. NO WAY. So, I do believe there is vanity sizing going on out there. I dont want to take away from her accomplishments but at some point you have to say to yourself, self, is this the only pair of pants on the planet that are a size 4 that I can get on? If you cant just walk in a store and pick up any size 4 and have it fit comfortably, then you dont wear a 4. I think we can get a little dillusional when it comes to our size etc and we want to be successful so bad, it causes us to be a little bit fibby about it. Like putting 10 pounds less than you really weigh on your drivers license. I felt a little disheartened after reading her posts about this miracle size 4. I kept thinking I hope I dont do that when and if I lose any weight. I think we should all be honest as we go through this journey together. We are not here to impress others. We are here for support and honesty is the best policy. Sorry about the tangent I just went on! lol
