Situation with wife and weight lost.
Forensikchic replied to lash44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After we talked yesterday, I felt better.... and then... he did it again this morning... only more passive aggressive... he yelled from the bathroom... woohoooo! I said "What happened?" He said, "oh its nothing, nevermind"... as If I could just let that go... then he said I am now at 212. He knew that I was still at 215. I was upset but I hid it and said congrats and he left for work... then I cried. I guess I am must an emotional sap. I am not going to let this affect my progress. I cant. -

Situation with wife and weight lost.
Forensikchic replied to lash44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I decided to talk to him on the phone during lunch today... since I cant eat yet... I told him how I felt about how he had been acting. He finally saw that he wasnt not being supportive doing this . He said he just wanted to be under 210 and he was focused on that so much so that he put me on the back burner and didnt consider my feelings. I told him I was glad he wanted to be healthy but surely since he had his turn for two years he could support me in my turn. He appologized to me about it and said he wanted to support me too and he wasnt trying to compete with me. I think we came to an understanding that we will support each other but not at the expense of the other one. I think he might do better now. I think this surgery and me losing weight just lit a fire under his ass to get to his goal weight too, even though he just has about 4 or 5 pounds to lose now. Thanks for listening. Tammi -
Situation with wife and weight lost.
Forensikchic replied to lash44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a lot to say about this one. I am having the same problem with my husband! He lost 60 pounds a couple of years ago and weighed about 215... he is 6'2". He is much healther now but then he started to gain a little back.. got up to 230. I weighed 234 three weeks ago and I had my surgery last monday. I am starting to loose already. He and I were walking and he said I should make my first goal to weigh less than him. He started watching what he ate from that day forward (presurgery). As I would weight in our bathroom and announce my weight loss, he would go in there and weigh. It has turned ugly the last few days. Yesterday, he jumped on the scales and said I weight 217.7! I weighed the exact same! I was excited! He said NO WAY! I am like, do you want me to reach my goal? YOU suggested it! So he has been competing with me because he doesnt want me to weigh less!!!!! I cant believe it! I said you are not supporting me, you are going against me! Of course I want him to loose back down and get healthy, but right now I need his support and for him to want me to do well. This morning he weighed and announced he was 214.9. of course I didnt loose 3 pounds overnight and was 215.9. So he went to work with a smile knowing I still weighed more than he did. I am so hurt about this. What gets into peoples heads???? I am very sad about it but I dont know what to do. Lash, I hope this doesnt happen to you but it sounds like it is. She is getting jealous that you are going to be in better shape than her so she is diligently working on it. Its a good thing but it can be taxing on a marriage. I know you want her to feel good about herself and be proud and supportive of you at the same time. Thats what I want too. I want him to be proud of himself too. My point is that when he lost his weight... we have celebrated and bragged for two years. I cant even get started good, til I am being made to feel he is against me and trying hard for me NOT to make my goal that he proposed for me... what to do, what to do. -
scared to death
Forensikchic replied to indy sleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same fears! I cried before surgery too. I was scared to death. I am a week and 2 days post op and I am back at work since Monday! Its not that painful, you will just be really tired. Kinda under the weather feeling. You will do great! Try to stop obsessing and just go head on and go with it! -
Stop bringing food to my house!
Forensikchic replied to LindaS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank goodness my MIL is 1600 miles away! AND... she doesnt know about my surgery. Only my parents and sister know. They live away too so I dont have to worry about that. My mother calls every night to ask what I had for dinner and tells me in detail what they had.... it sucks but she has always done that so I just blow it off. Its such a habit with her. Its funny how you realize the way you were raised was "hey, what yall having for dinner?" Everything revolves around food. Well, thats not going to be the case for me anymore. Im only a week out and on liquids so I dont need to think that way anymore. Good luck to all of you with sabboteurs in your lives. I hope It doesnt get to be too much. Tammi -

Just had Sleeve Surgery 8/9/11

I get a gurgling feeling with every sip. I try to sip slow. If I sip a little faster then I will get a feeling like a burp is caught in my chest.. it goes away in seconds.. the next sip is the same so I equate this to the full feeling. I wait about 5 or 10 minutes and then I can sip without this feeling. I am assuming this is the feeling. That tightness that comes after you have been sipping a while. Hope that helps and congrats on loosing 40 pounds already!!! wohoooo! -
I've been sleeved! July 20th
Forensikchic replied to kcityteacher's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved 8/8. I am 6days postop and on Clear Liquids. I still have some gas pain but it is manageable now. I have to stay on clear liquids for three weeks! I get to add in my muscle milk Protein shakes tomorrow though and I am beyond thrilled! I feel your pain with the family going about their business eating everything. I have not cried yet about it but I have felt sad that I couldnt eat. I was on liquids a week before my surgery too. It feels like I havent eaten in a year. I have head hunger I think. I just like the smel and want to eat it. Not necessarily that my tummy wants it. Anyway, I am proud for you and keep up the good work! I want to hear all about how its going. I get to go to soft food week 4 and 5. -
I have been passing some serious gas but no more bm or sharts!!! Thank goodness!

Hi all, I have been giving little updates on my progress since surgery. It seems to help me mentally to just jot down whats been happening. Maybe it will help others too. Yesterday I overdid it a little by taking my 13 year old shopping for school supplies and running a few errands. I had my husbands truck since he took my car to work. Its a tall quad cab dodge and our driveway is on an incline. It was hard to get in it but once there driving was fine. We only stayed out a few hours but I was pooped by the time we got back. I was really sore last night and it was hard to sleep soundly. I woke with a little nausea... my first nausea! I did not throw up but my body was screaming for something warm. I made decaf coffee and sipped that. I noticed gurgling and gas moving so when I tried to pass the gas a lot more came with! TMI I know... so I had a touch of diahrea sp? but now I feel better. So I am calling that my first BM after surgery. It was not bad, no cramping or anything. I have had a bout a half cup of coffee in the last hour and i feel some better now. Still sore from yesterday especially on the left side. Not horrible though. My bandages are itching now. I gained 14 pounds in water weight at the hospital. My right hand where the iv was is still puffy. I had lost 9 pounds with my postop diet and to see that I gained that back plus 5 more was disheartening. I have lost most of that back now. As of yesterday I was within 3 pounds of my preop diet weight. SW 234, preop 225, home from hosp. 239, yesterday 228. I have not weighed this morning. I will keep you all posted on how Im doing. Thanks for listening. Tammi

I'm very tired today and a little nausea too. Not bad though. I weighed today with clothes and have lost the surgery weight! So excited! Now I'm back to 225. Day of surgery weight. Its all downhill from here! So far I lost 9 pounds since beginning my pre op. Woohoo!

Problems with getting down vitamins
Forensikchic replied to Shell77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought calcium citrate chews from my drs office. They taste like lemon starburst. I also do the gummy vitamins.. much easier to chew and swallow. I take the chewable iron from my drs. office too and its good. Also, I got b12 subligual pills to put under my tongue and they melt.. all easy to take. Ask your doctor about the calcium and the iron. I got the b12 and the mulitvitamin gummies from Walmart. I am 5 days post op. -
When did you feel good post op
Forensikchic replied to FishingNurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got out of the house today, had surgery on Monday so this is technically day 5. I drove to several places including my drs office to get the chewable iron tablets that I forgot! I am really tired because we also went to two stores for school suppllies! I cant beleive I was able to do that. I am extremely tired now. I need to drink more. I feel almost hungry but I dont think its physical hunger. I think its in my head. I smelled lots of food and it made me want it. When I really think about it though.. I had my days of eating everything because it smelled good. Now I have to get used to my new life. I am excited to start protein drinks again on Monday. I am looking forward to them! I have three weeks liquid diet and then soft food. I will also be happy just to chew again! I am going to rest more this weekend because I have to go back to work on Monday. -
It just erased everything I wrote... Here we go again. Stupid Iv getting in the way. I had heartburn yesterday, all day. The staff thought I was getting in too much liquid, if you can even do that. I cut way back on it but it didnt help much. It was not unbearable just came in little waves but passed quickly too. It was tolerable. I got a shower last night and all my bandages off. That felt good. I get my staples out today and they will put some glue on to hold it. The dr. has not been in yet this morning. Last night I got off the morphine pump and took some liquid lortab. It wasnt that bad. I got it down along with nausea meds and toridal in my drip. I slept like a rock! I didnt even get up to Pee! TMI THIS PART----I noticed some itching in the lower regions so I ask if I could have diflucan for a possible yeast infection. they cut it into three littlel peices and I was able to take it, no problem. I breathe with my spirometer but it cranks up the heartburn. I need clear lungs though so I use it as much as i can remember to. I hope all you guys are having a good experience too. I am plannning on listening to my body today instead of the nurse. If I need to sip, I am going to sip! It doesnt really help the heartburn that much anyway. I was not oversipping after all so today... I am planing to sip! I feel pretty dang good for just having this surgery. No nausea or vomiting. A little heartburn and thats about it. Good luck to all of you who are just starting this journey. I hope you have a good experience too! I am going home today! I will post again to tell how its going there. I am open for questions, should anyone want to ask me. Thanks Tammi

Day 2 after surgery
Forensikchic replied to Forensikchic's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Im day 4 post op. Yesterday I felt very blah. I was barely getting around and I had a bad headache and cramps from getting my Period!!!! Ughhh.. what timing. I just didnt feel well all day. I think it was because I took some phergan and a little lortab and it made me feel like I had been run over by a truck. I have some gas pain but its short and I usually pass it pretty quickly after the pain. I am taking my nexium type meds and I havent had any nausea really. Last night I decided to just take a tylenol easy tab for the headache and cramping. It helped and I slept really well! I didnt take the phenergan or lortab. I got up feeling a little under the weather but much better than yesterday. I have walked twice today for about 5 laps down my street and back. I feel better but only about 50% myself today. I am hoping for 75% tomorrow. I am having trouble finding broth that I like so I will be surfing the net today to find some choices! I hope you feel better today than yesterday! I had to do the deep breathing a lot yesterday because my chest felt tight. I had been coughing some and I thought I might be having trouble with my lungs. Today is MUCH better though! Yay.. no pneumonia! Good luck to all of you. Debbie, hang in there! I am praying it will get better for you! Tammi -

I just want to tell people my story so far. I am one day post op. My surgery was 8/8/2011. All in all its going well. I am still in the hospital on my laptop. I just wanted to give everyone a word of encouragement that might need it who are considering having this surgery. I am doing great. I was so afraid and nervous I didnt really sleep for a week. When I got to my room, I had really great nurses. I was not in any real pain. I asked if I could pee and then walk some. It felt good to walk even though it was soon after surgery. I walked a lot yesterday. I was given nausea meds in my IV and so I have not experienced any nausea so far. I did get serious acid reflux heartburn type pain last night. I lasted all night, I had to slow way down on my sipping ice Water because if increased the heartburn pain. It was more bothersome than painful though. I slept on and off. Its 10:41 today and they gave me some muscle relaxers and bloodthinners. I am on a morphine pump. I dont have to press the button very often though. I was surprised and happy that I have had a fairly smooth ride so far. I have had time to reflect on how wonderful this opportunity really is. My advise to you all is to keep your eye on the prize and just take it one day at a time. You will be happy you gave up caffeine during the liquid diet and got through the headaches. Mine lasted a couple days and it was over. Caffeine is not healthy anyway and I dont plan to go back to it. The liquid diet is a challenge but I just got through it one day at a time, sometimes hour by hour. Muscle Milk banana cream flavor was really good and I hate Protein shakes! We can all do this together~ We owe it to ourselves to finally have the healthy life we want. Feel free to email me or message me anytime during this journey. I am slightly ahead of you and I will answer all your questions to the best of my ability. We are all here for support and its great to know other people are in your shoes too! Hang in there!

day AFTER sugery
Forensikchic replied to Forensikchic's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The heartburn isn't even that bad. I'm very happy with my recovery so far. I did walk two miles a day sometimes one mile for the one week preop. Caffeine withdrawal was a b***h but it got better after day two. No caffeine in the hospital so I am thrilled I got it over with! You are going to do great!! -
