I am so picky about what I can drink. I hated all protein drinks I had tried and was very worried I couldnt do the liquid protein. I just hate everything. They are chalky, oily, dont mix well, I just cant do it. My DH bought Muscle Milk in the banana creme flavor. I dont even eat bananas. I was like, OH GREAT. I do, however love banana flavored candy, like laffy taffy. I am on day two of my preop liquid diet and have a caffeine headache from hell. I had to drink it. I popped the top before leaving the driveway in case I had to heave. I took a big sip and it was freakin delicious!!!!!! Im telling you it tasted exactly like banana laffy taffy! I love it! I drank it all in short order and wanted more! Also, I felt instantly better. The headache subsided some and I felt like a new person! I am just so dang thrilled to have found a protein drink (20 g per 11 oz) that I dont just like or tolerate, I love! Just thought this might help someone else who is struggling to find a protein drink they can drink.

HELP! STEROIDS!!
Forensikchic replied to Forensikchic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found some stetches online to do and I started those today. I am scared to take the steroids so I decided not to. I have to see my podiatrist again in a week and I am worried that the pain will still be there and he will find out I didnt take them. Oh well, I am going to try this first. If i am still in a lot of pain by then, I might reconsider taking them. Thanks for all the advice. How often should I stretch? The videos said once a day and there are three different stretches to do... one with a belt, one you just pull your toes and ball of your foot back toward you.. they seem really the same and the other is more an achiles stretch. My I should do them morning and night. I want this pain gone. Its mainly in my left foot. -
How did you quit smoking?
Forensikchic replied to LadyIvy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit smoking cold turkey many years ago. Its was very difficult. My husband quit this past June with Chantix. It worked great for him. He only took it for a month. The same thing happened with my best friend. They both used it for about a month and have been smoke free ever since (my freind has been quit for about 3 years now! I would reccommend it over cold turkey after seeing the results with my friend and husband. -
support system changing
Forensikchic replied to amberj's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont know if this will help or not but my surgeon tells everyone (its in his powerpoint he gives at the seminar) that if you have relationship trouble, this surgery will not fix it but make it worse. If your other half has self esteem issues and does not trust the relationship, that wont be made better after. He obviously has issues trusting that you love him no matter what size you are, if he thinks you are going to leave him if you get skinny. That is HIS problem, one that you cannot fix. We have to fix our problems and put ourselves first so we can be healthy and able to take care of our kids and our significant others. I have learned the hard way that you cant fix people and they cant fix us. I think you are right, if he cant support you when you need him the most, when will he? Is this a one sided relationship? If it is, you are better off re-evaluating it and having a heart to heart with him. The last thing you need is extra stress added to your journey trying to please someone who is a narcissist and only concerned with themselves and what they want (control freak). Just my 2cents. -

HELP! STEROIDS!!
Forensikchic replied to Forensikchic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are right. I am not going to be adding fat, just a little water retension. I am going to buy the good shoes and not go barefoot anymore. The pain I am in now is pretty intense and the prednisone is to relieve the pain. Once I get past that, the doc is going to have me do stretches, buy orthotics, etc. to help with the healing process. I just freaked out a little over it. I should be fine as long as I do what I am told. -
The "What's Your Goal Weight?" Question is Really
Forensikchic replied to Adri's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
a great friend of mine told me that when someone asks her a nosy none of their business question... she always asks "why do you ask?" and it makes them stammer around and she doesnt answer them. Most people say, oh I just wanted to know and she continues with.. but why? What do you plan to do with the information? It gets really funny the more flustered they become. Makes you think twice about asking people personal information. Also, if they start it with "do you mind if I ask you " blah blah blah... she will say, why yes, I do mind. And they say nothing further.. I have seen this work many times. -
HELP! STEROIDS!!

I hope to keep active even though it hurts. I am not going to eat eat eat either. I wont allow myself to do that even if I am hungry. I dont think I will be. My doc says that Water retention is a biggie with this medication. He said that would go away as soon as I was done taking it. -
Cool. I tried an eggface recipe last night for banana caramel Protein Bars and it turned out horrible. I substituted unflavored powder for vanilla powder and added extra vanilla but i guess it wasnt enough. It was not edible. I am just hoping I can make pudding that I can actually enjoy but more especially, that I can actually eat and not have to pitch. I think I will go with one scoop of protein powder and add some vanilla flavoring also.. maybe some splenda. I guess its going to be a trial and error thing til I get it right! Thanks for helping me! How many servings does yours make when you put two cups milk and 2 scoops protein powder? I guess it would make 4 1/2 cup servings but I am not sure. Thanks again. Tammi

I have not lost in the last three days but my TOM is here and so I think that might be attributing to it. I think I can do this! I have about 4 weeks left and thats only about 2 lbs a week! I am going to give it my all. Good luck everyone! -

I found this great step aerobics class and I was so excited to start. I used to do step a few days a week for years and I love it! I was elated to find one in my area. I went Saturday and it was great. I went this morning and it was a different instructor. She was nice and bubbly, even my age... early 40's. All was going well until.....She was commenting to the class about one of the womens accomplishments in weightloss and said, "Lorraine here has lost 12 pounds!!! Wooohooo! "and she did it the right way!" I was slightly taken aback. I know they dont know I had surgery, and I may be sensitive right now, but I cant think what else she would be referring to as the wrong way except wls. I remained silent and just felt odd, I guess. I shook it off and gave her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe thats not what she meant. I can see why people dont want it known... It still has a stigma about it. I am just saying it left me with an odd feeling.. I didnt know what to feel.

Where is this elusive recipe? I cant find it anywhere??? Please repost it for me. Thanks!

I just wanted to tell my peeps that I am in onederland finally!!!! I had my surgery August 8th and I am 8 weeks post op today! I weighed in at 199.1! It feels so good to say that I have lost 35 pounds since the beginning August 1st (one week was preop). I am feeling better these days and have just starting doing aerobic classes this saturday. I am still tired some but its not bad anymore. I can eat anything but I eat my protein first. I am drinking water better these days. I am so glad to be nearly two months out already! Time is flying by! I am having nsv's like crazy!

Thanks everyone for your continued support! I love my sleeve!
-
I still cant hold very much food. I dont know if my sleeve is still swollen or what. I only get 400-600 calories a day on a good day and water is slow too. I only get about 24 to 30 ounces of liquid. I know its not enough and really try to get it down. Anyways, I have lost 35 pounds so far and I am happy with that. I am averaging about 2.5 pounds a week and I am great with that. Its coming off at least. Its almost our 2 month surgiversary!
-
Thanks so much! We will both make our goals!

I just saw my PCP for the first time since being sleeved. He learned of my kidney stone problems and then he asked about my vitamins. He told me to drink lemonade and no sodas and it would help and he was explaining why and said the word citrate. I said, as in calcium citrate? I take that! He told me to stop taking the citrate kind of calcium! He said to chew a couple of tums instead because people prone to have kidney stones want to avoid CITRATE. It forms kidney stones!!!! Who knew? So I am going to take Viactiv or tums from now on. He also wanted me to take a vitamin D tablet daily. He said that was more important anyway. Just thought I would share the info. Tammi

When does the first stall usually happen?
Forensikchic replied to Shalon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a significant setback in the third week myself. I am all to familiar. I had a kidney stone and they pumped me full of fluids for 5 days and I had another surgery on my kidney. When I got home, I had gained it all back then some! I had to start over from 236 instead of 234. I just kept telling myself that I would still be fine and it would come off. It took another week to get off the Water weight and be back where I was at week two and it was week 4! It has come off at 2 to 3 pounds a week since and this week was even 4.5 lbs. I will come off if we do what we are supposed to and be patient.. Best of luck to you! Keep up the good work and I cant wait to see updates from you! You are gonna do great! :cheer2: -
I just realized that today my BMI is down to 34.5 and I am just plain old regular Obese.. not severely or morbidly!
