Forensikchic replied to MeMeMEEE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow girl! I am praying for you. We are sleeve sisters and I follow you pretty close. Maybe you will feel 100% better once they get all that fixed. Good thing you found out now! Thinking of you...keep us posted! -
I was trying to use this site but I cant find where it says if you continue to do what you are doing, you will be at goal in X amount of months thingy. Where do you see that type of information?

It's wierd looking at the way you used to eat from this side...
Forensikchic replied to GonnaLoseIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like a good plan! I dont plan on it much and the times I have eaten it, It was because I didnt have much choice but I like that taco bell has a fresco menu and it is an option for me if i need it in a crunch. I wish you much luck and I look forward to following your success! Nice to meet you! -

I have a slightly different perspective since my surgery. I am following the rules, getting my Protein in first etc. but I decided when I had this surgery that I was not on a diet anymore, a lifestyle change instead and my days of deprivation and starving were over! I have been to taco bell once and got a fresco chicken taco and ate the middle out, only one small bite of the tortilla. I was satsified and it was good. There are lots of healthy people that are thin also and they eat where they want to, just not like we used to eat! I could put away a half dozen tacos and a nacho bell grande easy before this! I was always looking for that stuffed feeling as a sign I was full. Now i get that in just a few bites of the inside of a taco. I am looking to lead a normal life, like other normal healthy people and not eating any more fast food ever is not in my vocabulary. I dont advocate eating fast food all the time but occassionally, I think its fine. I am not saying this is for everyone. I respect you so much for deciding fast food is not for you anymore and doing what you need to do to be sucessful. I think we are all on our own journey and we have to find what works for us individually. I dont partake in fast food often but I dont want to live my life saying...oh I cant have that or having others decide for me. I hate that worse. My husband or coworkers will say... we are going to chilis..oh but you cant have that... now my coworkers dont invite me anymore. Of course I can have it. They have chicken, beef, protein choices all day long... I think I can make a good decision and i dont need them to decide for me what I can eat and where I can go. Sorry... got myself worked up over that. I say, find what works for you, eliminating foods or not and work your sleeve! I am proud for you that you are realizing the differences in how you ate before and how you dont have any desire to return to that lifestyle. Good going! Keep up the good work. -
I want to tell you guys about the realization I made today. Its kind of a personal story but I think there may be a few of us that can relate to it. Before surgery, I asked my husband what kind of eater did he think I was... emotional, stress, volume etc... I thought I was just a volume eater. He immediately said stress and emotional. I argued with this and was very defensive about it. He said when I seemed sad and depressed, i ate more. I just thought, no way and that he was wrong. I said I dont get hungry when I am upset! The story began yesterday when I got a voicemail from my 17 year old son's school that he had been arrested and taken to adult jail. I panicked listening to what he could have possibly done. He had driven the car I bought him to school and failed to get the proper sticker for it. They searched it and found a pocket knife in the console under some CD's. He is now charged with a FELONY because the car was parked on school grounds. He was in jail until 3:30 am this morning when they finally released him to us. He was scared to death. He is a very small guy and he looks very young for his age. He is a late bloomer. Anyway, you can imagine my horror! I cried and cried for him. I was so scared something would happen to him in there! I skipped dinner altogether because I was upset and forgot to eat thanks to sleevy. Fast forward to this morning. I had to go to the school this morning to get the keys to his car and his ID. I was upset when talking to the principal about why they didnt call me at work and decided to leave that on a voicemail plus how rediculous I think it is that they would charge a kid with that knowing he didnt bring it to school on purpose and it was way down in a console of a car, long since forgotten about. Anyway, I was shaking by the time I got to work. I started looking for food. My stomach felt like it was burning and I just wanted to eat. I knew i really did need to eat something so I chose greek yogurt but it wasnt satisfying me at all. I only ate half and gagged my way through that. I knew my sleeve was full but I was still searching for something... thats when I realized my husband had been right all the time.... when I am stressed like that and emotional, I turn to food for comfort! I had to calm myself down but the urge to eat was really strong! I managed to not give in to it. I ate a normal lunch for sleevy (some soup) and I am feeling better. It all makes sense now that I was able to pinpoint my problem area. I didnt give in to it... I stayed busy at work and it kept whispering in my ear...but I ignored it. I just wanted to share this and see if anyone else can relate to something like this since they were sleeved. I know I would have eaten until I was in a coma before I was sleeved, if something this upsetting had happened to me and my family. Holla if you feel me.....

Thanks for the encouragement. I am at least learning my triggers so I can manage them better. I am currently in my first stall I think. I lost 1/2 pound last week. That hasnt happened yet for me till this week. I didnt eat crazy, I just thought about it. I never had the three week stall so I guess its my turn. I hope next week is better. Good luck with your BF. -
One bite too much=nausea?
Forensikchic replied to jillw8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I eat a little fast, I tend to start burping even after two or three bites... thats my que to slow down. I will wait a few minutes, try a few more bites with time in between. I start burping again and i know I am done. I am not done on the first burping, just eating too fast. I can tell I have only eaten a couple of bites and I know I need a little more than that so I wait and then eat one slow bite at a time until I start that burping again.. Then I stop. I dont have the nausea if I do this. It seems to be my ques that I have learned to read. Good luck with yours. It takes time to figure out what your body is telling you but once you get it down pat, you will be ok. -
Women Only Question
Forensikchic replied to legnarevocrednu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In high school and college I was a 34C, gained weight and went up to a 38C and remained there for a long time. I gained more weight in the last 4 years and went up to a 40C/D. I have lost 37.5 pounds and now my bras are too big. I cant get in all the 38C's yet but my 40's are too big. So I think its safe to say that my band size is going down but my cup size isnt yet. I have lost about 3 inches in my chest so far. I am waiting to buy new bras so I dont have to spend so much money on them. My hubby is always asking if I think I will loose my boobs. I am hoping they just return to the 34C I wore when I was younger, they just wont be as perky! -

I only took a week off too. I work in a lab but I can sit most of the time. I did fine, I was just a little more tired than usual. I got to park close to work for a week or two and that helped. Usually I have to park a LONG way from my office and walk uphill. I was not up to that a week out of surgery. The first 5 days after I was questioning my decison to go back so soon because i was so tired at home but i perked up on day 6 and I was ready come Monday. I just took it easy. I wish you luck and the time has flown by since I was sleeved August 8th! I am down 37.5 pounds already! -
My weight loss has really slowed too. I only lost 1/2 pound this week. I am really bothered by it but I think its just my body having to stop and think about it. I get between 500 and 600 calories a day so I know it not that I am eating too much or the wrong things or anything like that. I am exercising some and walking now. I think it just takes time for your body to adjust. I am hoping for a big loss this next week. I have had a lot of compliments and people noticing in the last few days though so that was a great NSV! I am doing my measurements again this week to see if there is any difference there. Good luck to everyone else... At least we are not alone in this slow down. Seems like we are all having some slow weeks not that we are a couple months out.

Ok peeps... I need help here. I just came from a foot doctor because I have been having pain in my feet in the mornings for about 8 months now. I developed a pain in my left heel about three weeks ago that wont go away no matter what I do. I finally gave in and went to the doctor about it. Its plantar fasciitis. DAMN. I am now on prednisone for two weeks and then four more weeks of an anti inflamatory. My surgeon gave his blessing on these meds. I am going to gain weight! Its a steroid! What am I going to do??? Has anyone had to take this medicine post op and what happened? Did you gain, stay the same or loose normally? I am totally freaked out. He did say I can keep doing aerobics though. He also said I got this condition from being overweight, on my feet lot and wearing flipflops or no shoes at home. I cant wear them anymore or go barefeet. I cant win for loosing... I am so upset! Someone please tell me I am not going to gain all my weight back with these damn steroids! If my foot didnt hurt so bad and I could walk right without taking them, I would!

HELP! STEROIDS!!
Forensikchic replied to Forensikchic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said I need new crosstrainers. I am buying some tomorrow. I am also getting orthotics for my shoes. I cant afford to have them made custom right now (was self pay for surgery in Texas) so I will get the already made ones for now. I am doing the stretches and I will check out the ASTYM treatment! Thanks for all your guidance through this painful thing they call PF. Tammi -
Are you all set? Hope things are going well for you!

Preop protein shake- I finally found one I can stomach. Its the body fortress vanilla and I add a spoon of cheesecake pudding mix to it or some sugar free caramel syrup. I hated all Protein shakes before. I also mix it with milk and it is totally doable. Iron pill- I take a chewable flintstones with iron twice a day! Multivitamin- Flintstones with iron Vitamin d- I bought a vitamin d pill at walmart. Its small and is Fluid filled and easy to swallow. Calcium- I chew a viactiv caramel a day. Its the best calcium for people who are prone to kidney stones. B-12- I bought the sublingual one at walmart and it melts under your tongue.. its good! l like a peice of candy. -

SW 210 CW 197 GW 190 lbs to goal 7 I am getting there slowly but surely! I hope I make it!!!! -
Your welcome Darcey! Its a great tool to have in your arsenal and I love mine! Its easy to say "oh, you can loose 2-3 pounds a week with a regular diet like ww and willpower" but you dont hear many people saying, "oh its easy to loose 100 pounds in 6-9 months premanently with a regular diet like WW and will power" Its all in the prospective. Its long term PERMANENT weight loss as long as you do what you are supposed to. You cant go back to eating cake and ice cream as your staple foods or you will feel sick and you can override it if you try to... but who would deliberately sabbotage themselves! Looking at it as permanent loss and over the long run is a much more realistic view of it. Looking at it on a weekly basis is not seeing the forest for the trees! Lots of people are successful in the short run on regular low calorie diet plans and thats great however for those of us that are 100 pounds overweight or more, we need a little more help than that. jmho

My doctor says that after the first month, the initial drop in those fat stores and Water weight, you can expect to loose between 8 and 10 pounds a month. I thought of ww too because they say 1-2 pounds a week. I have been on ww for 20 years and I have never lost that much consistently! I lost about 40 pounds once on ww and it was an average of 6 pounds a month but I didnt keep if off and it slowly came back on, even though I kept on with ww. I just got lazy and didnt keep it up as diligentlly as I should have. I am not saying ww doesnt work, I am saying its a tool, just like the sleeve is. Its not a miracle that you dont have to do anything and POOF the weight is gone. You still have to think about Protein first and getting your water, etc. Its a great tool because its restrictive and you cant gobble down everything you once did. You have to work your tool and there are very few people who have lost 2 to 2.5 pounds a week on ww consitently (the key word here). If they did, it would have worked for many of us who have tried and tried and failed. Its your decision but dont be delusioned into thinking that its an easy fix or that you dont have to be careful what you eat after the surgery. Its working great for me and I love that I am not hungry and it makes me able to make better choices and not stuff myself. I have been more successful in the first two months than I ever have with anything else. I lost 11 pounds in the past month and I think thats pretty good, for a total of 37 since surgery 8/8. thats two months and three days. It took me five months to loose that with ww and I gained all back DOUBLE within a few years. This for me is a more permanent solution to keeping my weight off and being healthy. Good luck to you!
