New Surgery Date
Forensikchic replied to sleevertobe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
did you mean May 28? -
I have never liked to drink water per se. I had to make myself and I was a guzzler. I would take big drinks, like six or seven big swallows at a time until I got it drank or about 10 ounces at a time. I cannot do that anymore. I had to start with very small sips after surgery or I got a tightness in my chest. I am 9.5 months out and the most I can do is about 6 regular swallows at a time and then wait a few minutes and i can do that again. So if you are a guzler, you can drink 5 or 6 swallows at a time eventually but that is my max right now.

Success But Whose Really?
Forensikchic replied to june13sleever's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well, I beg to differ. I dont think the surgery is necessarily the only thing a person has to do to lose weight. Its the biggest part and I agree that its a great tool but what about the rules you have to follow strictly to be sucessful? You have to eat Protein first, exercise, not drink your calories and the list goes on and on. I know several people who have not been as sucessful as others and it pertains to that aspect of it. A person is not just home free after surgery. You have to work at it, its only a tool to be used. It has seemed easy for me too but it fit in with my lifestyle and that is why I have been so successful without much ado. Its been relatively easy so far for me. I do consider myself a success and I do contribute it to me working with my tool, eating healthier, exercising, etc. Just another point of view on the same topic. Do not intend to offend. Not saying you are wrong, just saying I have a different view. I believe you are a success and an inspiration! You have inspired me along the way! -
I liked the RTD muscle milk banana cream and cake batter flavors. You can get them at the vitamin shoppe or gnc or places like walmart and the grocery store. I am not into chocolate so that was not an option for me. My sister likes them too.

So...my Sister And I Are Aleeved
Forensikchic replied to hhwhittington's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved in August and my sister is getting sleeved in under two weeks! June 1st! I am excited for her and I hope she doesnt have a lot of pain. We both suffer from kidney stones so her pain threshold is high, like mine. We have both had gall bladder surgery which is what i would compare this to. I think she will be fine with the surgery pain. I had no gas pain and I hope that is the case with her too. I feel very excited that we will both be sleeved very soon! -
Thanks everyone! I am looking forward to it but nervous at the same time!

Do you mean vitreous humor? The aqueous humor is that tiny bit of Fluid between the lens and the cornea, the vitreous humor is the fluid that fills the eyeball between the retina and the lens. I saw a thread a few months back on this subject and the people found out they vision changes but that given a little time, self corrected. They said it was common and it would go back to normal with time.

Not Sure What To Call It...but I Am In The 300's!
Forensikchic replied to brandymarie81's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Take advantage of these early months to really get your eating habits changed. This the prime time to lose. We all have stalls and fluctuations but if there is a time to bear down and do the absolute best you can, its now. You can be a bit more lax about it later, because now is the honeymoon and you need to take full advantage of it. I am not saying be perfect but do your very best and you will be glad you did. Congrats for being in the 300's! Wooop! -
Good luck!!!!

Forensikchic replied to D1NOnlySexyLady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I now have to take three colaces at once in order to go. i dont do this everyday. I usually take three tablets at the same time about two or three times a week and it works for me. It didnt work to take them one a day. The bottle says 1-3 daily so I just take them all at once. It works! -
Have I Messed Up Too Bad?
Forensikchic replied to Luwanna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sister started her preop diet today. Its all liquid for two weeks, surgery June 1. She can have cream soup for dinner but otherwise just shakes, crystal lite, sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello, etc. She also quit smoking today! She made it through day one, no issues. I am so proud of her! I know that it is super difficult but she can do it and I believe in her! -

How Long After Your First Visit Did You Get Your Surgery?
Forensikchic replied to letsdothis!!!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I too had gone to a seminar about a year before I actually had my surgery and I didnt like the staff at the seminar. I did not feel they were the ones for me. I kept trying to lose on my own and finally went to a different surgeon who was recommended to me and I loved them! -
How Long After Your First Visit Did You Get Your Surgery?
Forensikchic replied to letsdothis!!!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was the fastest seminar to surgery patient my Dr. had ever had. I attended the July 30th saturday seminar, made my appt with the surgeon that Monday the 1st. Followed up with him that Friday the 5th, had surgery on Monday the 8th of August. So 9 days later, I was sleeved! I had been researching it and doing supervised dieting so I would be okayed by my insurance but they only covered the sleeve if your bmi was over 50 and mine was 40.2. I decided at the seminar to self pay and the earliest appt he had was Monday morning so I took it! It was very fast! -
Stressed!!!!!!!! So much pressure! I am going to explode! Thank God for Sleevie because now I cant eat to feel better!

Did Anyone Self Pay In The Us?
Forensikchic replied to Izzybeff's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
14200 in San Antonio Texas. Covered everything. My insurance covered the sleeve but only if your BMI was over 50. I was 40.2. I chose to just self pay and get this party started... So happy I did. My sister is not covered either and chose to go to Alvarez in MX for 8750. Her surgery is June 1! -
I hit 149.9 this weekend! Woohooo! I will soon say a permanent goodbye to the 150's as I tend to bobble up and down a half pound for days after a milestone. Five more pounds to normal!

How Long Before U Could Swallow Pills?
Forensikchic replied to CHELL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on pills from day 1. My acid reducer was a capsule and they go down fine even though they look large. I have been taking that one and the nausea one everyday since surgery, up until a few months ago but I am 9 months out now. I have not had to crush anything. I got a cold and did not take the huge capsules like dayquil and nyquil though.. I was scared of those whoppers! I took tylenol too with no problem. -
Memorial Day Challenge!
Forensikchic replied to Forensikchic's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
SW 155.2 CW 149.9 GW 144.2 Pounds to lose by Memorial Day-- 5.7 I have been bouncing up and down this week too. My final weight for the week was 149.9 but I saw as low as 149.5. I am going to call it a half pound lost for the week and keep on trying. Two weeks left! Come on girls, give it your all!!! -
I had this problem for the first 6 months. My surgeon gave me nausea meds for it. He said it happened to a few sleevers but not many. He explained that when we sleep, our spit pools at the top of our stomach and when we first get up, it wants to go down but sleevy wont let it so we get a little nauseated in the morning. I would have water by my bed and take a zofran every morning when I woke up with just a sip of water. Within 15 minutes I was fine. I am 9 months out now and I dont have to do this anymore. It was a lifesaver during those times though. You could ask your surgeon for zofran to help with the morning nausea. HTH.

Slow Losers... How Long Did It Take To Meet Your Goal Weight?
Forensikchic replied to TheSkinnyCow73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay. I dont really understand this slow losing thing. Everyone says they are a slow loser and the range is huge! I have seen people post that 8 to 10 pounds a month is slow! Wow! That is soooo not true for most of us. I have been losing at a rate of about 6 to 7 pounds a month for the past 6 months, not counting the initial 2. I lost 4 pounds this past month. I think this is a fairly steady rate, not slow, not fast. This is not really a race. I have lost 83 pounds so far. I had a personal goal of 100 pounds so I am 17 pounds from that. I told my surgeon I wanted to reach that goal by August, my one year surgiversary and he said he would be happy if I reached it by Thanksgiving. The weight loss does slow up as you get closer to the one year mark. I think we need to accept that fact early on and not be so obssessed with it. I could have set my goal at 150, 160 or even 170 and I would have long surpassed those except the first one. I would be 1 pound away from goal if i had set it at 150. Goal is a personal choice. I think I will be healther and fit at 135 so that is what I chose but others my same height are happier at 160-170. So when you ask about how long it took someone to get to their goal, keep that in mind. When I first started, I was getting upset when others would reach their goals and I still had 40 pounds to lose or they were wearing a size at my same weight that there was NO WAY I could wear. I realized its because we are all built a little different and have different goals so we could not really compare ourselves to others accurately. Just keep on keeping on and it will come off. All that you want to lose, you can lose. I am going to keep on even if it takes me until Thanksgiving, I dont care that much. I am going to keep striving for summers end and see how close I come! We can all do this, no matter how long it takes. -
I had a hard time with the gummies. I could not chew it enough in the beginning and it was hard to swallow. I switched to chewables and they are easy to chew up to a powder and I have no problems taking them. My flintstones with Iron says on the bottle that the dose is 1/2 tablet for kids and one tablet for adults and children over 4. I dont think it would hurt to take two though my vitamin counts are really good with the one a day, aside from the Vit. D, which i needed a prescription for. My PCP says that Vit D is the one that wls patients are often low in.
-
I take a flintstones chewable with iron once a day after I eat like a little treat. My levels are fine doing this. I take a prescription strength Vit. D once a week because it is low if I dont. Otherwise everything is great and flintstones dont make me nauseus even if I dont eat when I take them. I just do this as a precaution. I do eat when I take the vitamin D though. Occasionally I will take a B12 sublingual but not often. It works for me.
