Eating Sensation Question
MissMichele replied to CRainwater's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This information helps me, as I'm looking at revising from the Band to Sleeve. One of the worst things about the band is the gross stuck/full feeling you have while the bottom half of your tummy is still growling for food...to me that is SO miserable. Not to mention the horrible stuck feeling...I can eat ice cream, cake, pudding just fine, but if I try and eat something healthy (chicken breast and salad) I spend 2 hours trying to get it un-stuck. Yes, I'm a little grouchy, the lapband has NOT been good for me. -

I appreciate you guys taking the time to give me your personal stories. I've contacted Weightwise and am attending a seminar this weekend. Looking forward to beginning my journey out of the band and into the sleeve! Thanks again for the help. -
Looking To Start The Revision Process..
MissMichele posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hello everyone, I'm 38 years old with a lapband...I've had my lapband since 2009 I've lost 50lbs (I still need to lose another 100+lbs) and have been nothing but miserable since day 1. I've been in the ER twice when the band has suddenly tightened up on me and I haven't even been able to drink water!! It's been so miserable...so I had my husband put me back on his insurance so I could start looking at revision surgery. I'm excited...I just hope I can get insurance to pay for it. Anyone been successful with getting this approved?? Any advice would be much appreciated. -

Thanks for the reply. It's helpful to see you've been happy with the revision. I'm pretty nervous about it - but I really, really want this band out of me! You look amazing!!! How exciting it must be to look and feel as wonderful as I'm sure you do! -

So...looks like approval will be easy. Contacted a local surgeon and was already told they do cover revisions...I'm shocked and happy. Now to find a doctor...that I want to do the surgery. Ugh -
Need A Recommendation For Gastric Sleeve Surgeon In Oklahoma
MissMichele replied to pasquini's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I was considering Dr. Walton myself....but was concerned when I saw the website that they would try to "sell" me a bunch of junk. There's a surgeon in Norman, Oklahoma that does that - and that was why I didn't choose him for my Lapband. Now that I'm trying to convert to the sleeve I really would like someone that comes highly recommended. I just want a good doctor that will file stuff with my insurance company and not try and squeeze all the out-of-pocket money they can get from me. I think I'll give Dr. Walton's office a call. -
Hello everyone - I remember reading these boards back when I was trying to decide on Lapband/Gastric Bypass surgery. I ultimately went with the Lapband. I cannot say I've been the happiest with it up until now, but it’s totally been my fault. I was banded in April 2009, had a fill a YEAR later and never returned. Not sure what my problem was, maybe I was "scared" of restriction. Anyway, I finally returned to my surgeon and (after many stern looks and a "talking to" for being gone so long) I received another fill last Monday. I currently have 8cc's in a 15cc band. I have good restriction (now that it’s loosened a bit -wow at first was intimidating) and am able to control my portions. I have to say this certainly takes some getting used to. I'm lucky, as I have a wonderful husband that is totally supportive my decisions...so it’s made this week a lot easier. Looking forward to meeting everyone here, as you can see I have a long journey ahead of me. Thanks for listening!
