Possible Fexible Spending Account Problem
HeavyDutyQ-tee replied to Cobrargc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FSA is ridiculous at times but to spend the money takes no pre-approval. Just hand them the card n it goes thru just like a credit card. After the fact the may want to verify what it was spent on with a receipt. This is were they can accept or deny but the funds are still paid to doctor. If they dont approve the transaction, your card will be put on hold until you either spend $4000 in medical expenses outta pocket n submit receipts. I think if you never verify the funds, you can't get another fsa account but you aren't punished or anything. Also if you spend your fsa up n say you quit or your terminated, you owe nothing. Thats a risk they take with these accounts. I have read n researched everything under fsa... -

HeavyDutyQ-tee replied to ThinnerTiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Less than 2months... Went to seminar 8/18... Did all requirements for insurance by 9/11... Papers submitted to insurance on 9/13... Approved 2days later on 9/15... Surgery 10/14/11... The only reason it took that long is because I had to get the days off for surgery approved by my job... Good luck to you!!! -

October Bandsters!!!

So yesterday I went ahead an joined Lifetime Fitness! Best decision I've made this week! I will be starting a T.E.A.M. Training bootcamp class next week for a couple months @ 3x's a week with a personal trainer with a small group of other members who have some of the same fitness goals as myself. I will also be attending Aqua-Zumba on Sunday mornings. So excited about Aqua-Zumba!!! I can't wait. The best part about Lifetime Fitness is that it's 24/7 & it's literally less than 7mins from my house. U can't be that!!! They have rock climbing, aquatics, aerobics, hip-hop, volleyball, sauna, full beauty spa, yoga, & open swim with water slides and many activities for kids. Also a healthy restaurant inside the gym. And the best part of it all is it was not too expensive & I got a couple discounts because they have open house going on right now. Yay!!! I'm also excited about the fact that they are 24/7, so by me working nights I can go to the gym right afterwork instead of going home first and having to wait for other exercise options. ♥ So this morning I went to Aqua-Zumba... 60mins of Aqua-Zumba, 20mins in the hot-tub, 20mins of walking laps in the pool & 5mins in the steam room = over 700calories burned & a relaxed body ready for a LONG NAP!!! I enjoyed my first day at Lifetime Fitness!!! ♥ Back tomorrow morning for another 8am aquatic class!!! I have done pretty good the past few weeks. I gained 2#'s after Thanksgiving but the turned around and lost 4.8#'s and the another 4.9#'s this past Friday. Before I joined Lifetime Fitness, I was simply playing games on the Wii, attending Jazzercise, and walking away the pounds with Leslie Sansone. I plan on switching things up in my exercise routine to keep my body guessing. Hopefully this helps. I have had a couple NSV, first fitting a jacket I couldn't even close about 3months ago... My work pants are literally falling off me without a belt... I can see my collarbones... I have some restriction. I am staying under 1400 calories a day and I am satisfied for 3-4hours after eating. So as long as I continue to drop weight, I'm not going in for a fill. I hope everyone else is doing pretty good. Hope everyone has a great Christmas & New Year!!! 2012 is our year!!! -
I'm Losing So Slow That Im Starting To Get Demotivated
HeavyDutyQ-tee replied to sheriah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Oct 14th & I had my first fill on Nov 18th. I have 4.8cc in my 14cc band. The scale was not moving for me at all in the first few weeks. I went down a few pounds and I thought okay here we go but then Thanksgiving week, I gained 2#'s... I guess the scale heard my cries bcuz the week after I gained those 2#'s, I ended up losing 4.8# and then an additional 4.9#'s last week on weigh-in Friday. I got on the scale yesterday & i had gained a pound. So I guess the scale moves when its ready. It has the option to go up, down, or not move at all... just appreciate the pounds that u have dropped. U earned that & more pounds will drop off soon!!! Be patient. I'm not sure if I have the best restriction but I am satisfied eating less than 1400calories a day & I exercise at least 4days a week doing Jazzercise, Aqua-Zumba, the Wii, and I love walk away the pounds with Leslie Sansone. We all have struggles & are still learning new things everyday but stick with it. The end result is what really counts!!! A year from now u won't even remember all these obstacles bcuz they will be in the past. Next year we will be giving a newbie the same advice others are giving us. Good Luck my fellow October Bandster!!! We have to stick together!!! -
Question About The Lap Band ID Card That You Can Get From Allergan
HeavyDutyQ-tee replied to cakegirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Alex... Just wondering how would I be able to get a hold of one of these cards? Do I request one from my surgeon? Can I request one online? I have never heard of this before until now. Thanks a lot. -
Back Pain /menstrual Cycle/ Lap Band
HeavyDutyQ-tee replied to options123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going through the same thing. I have never experienced pain before or during my cycle since I have had my daughter & she is 12yrs old now. I have had my cycle 2 times now since being banded & I promise you the back pain gets so excruciating a few days before my cycle up until the day of or one day after I come fully on. I don't know why this is but if u find out any answers, please let me know. I am not use to having bad periods but lately they really SUCK!!! -
October Bandsters!!!
HeavyDutyQ-tee replied to "AmyRose"'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello October Bansters!!! How did everyone do on Turkey Day??? What did you have??? Are you satisfied with your day and choices??? I can admit I wasn't perfect but I dont think I was horrible either. It makes 6wks post-op for me today & yesterday on Turkey Day I had1/2 cup of dressing, 1/2 cup of mac&cheese, 1/2 cup green beans, and a small piece of bbq rib. I also had a small piece of pound cake & carmel cake. But this was for the entire day. So I think for a person with no real restriction & only 6weeks in, I did hella good!!! I didn't touch the ham, greens, potato salad, cole slaw, turkey, soda, egg pie, or sweet potato pie... Last year I woulda easily put away 3 plates full of food & a whole sweet potatoes pie, along with a 6pk of pop. So I'm very happy with the choices I made this Holiday. -
1 Month Post-op Today & Feeling Discouraged!!!
HeavyDutyQ-tee posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello BandLand!!! First I wanna say I hope everyone is doing great and I am glad we have this forum because everyone has the opportunity to inspire someone else throughout there journey. I am getting a lil discouraged though... Today makes 1month post-op for me and I am only down 20lbs... For the 2wks the scale is just not moving. I am staying around 1000-1400 calories but on most days I am at 1200cals. I am starting to feel very hungry again. I will be getting my first fill this Friday the 18th. Currently i have no Fluid in my 14cc band. I just wanna know how has everyone's journey been? Any regrets? Anyone doing any vigorous exercise right away? Also for those out there who understand carbs... I need help!!! On a daily basis, I am trying to stay at 1200cals, 60-80g Protein, & under 100g carbs... I just dont understand how people say they stay under 30g of carbs when there are carbs in just about everything we eat including high protein foods also. If I eat yogurt for Breakfast, thats 20g carbs just from my a.m. snack... Can someone please explain carbs to me? I have been avoiding Pasta & rice and minimal bread but I do have a bagel thin or english muffin once or twice a week. Any help or advice would be great!!! Thanks Everyone... Below are some additional questions. Any help is appreciated!!! Thanks... HDC 1. (Women only question) What do you do for cravings and appetite when it's that time of the month? Does your weight fluctuate during this time as well? 2. Because there are carbs in almost everything we eat, how do you determine what is a good amount of carbs per day? My fitnesspal says 249g is a go number. 3. What kind of exercise do you all do and how much and for how long? 4. Any ideas on things I can do as a truck-driver that works nights? I will be going back to work in a couple weeks and snacking is how I use to make it on the road. I need ideas or even some healthy snack choices to get me through my nights at work driving down that lonely highway. 5. Are sunflower seeds bad? 6. So far I have been eating 1200 calories of less per day, along with 80g of protein and trying to keep my carbs under 100g. Is this ok??? I'm really unsure… Just still so confused and need some words of wisdom on certain things. Bandsters please share any advise or tips to help me through my journey. I appreciate all comments and I accept all the supportand encouragement I can get. Thanks a lot lbt… -

Hello Bansters... Just wanted to check in... First I wanna start off by saying, I ♥ my surgeon!!! <<Dr. Vafa Shayani>> So, today I went in for my 1st fill adjustment... In & Out in 15mins... Very minimal pain, felt like a couple of pinches but the port area is quite tender now that I am home... Originally had no fluid at all but know I have 4.8cc in my 14cc band... Felling pretty good & excited to see if I will have more restriction... I guess I will stay on liquids today... I can tell u this, I can no longer gulp down water. I feel full just from drinking water. Not uncomfortable, but very full. I think I'm starting to love my Band even more!!! #I ♥ being a LOSER!!! (23#'s & 14.5in to be exact) -

HeavyDutyQ-tee replied to HeavyDutyQ-tee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks girlie!!! I really appreciate it!!! Definitely going to look into some of those Snacks... I had set my own goals on mfp but a few of my friends and fellow bandsters told me not to set my own numbers and follow what the recommend and on days when i am below the calories recommended, look at that as an accomplishment. And yes I can not wait til fill day this friday!!! Good luck on your journey. I hope u dont mind me adding u as a friend...
