  1. Hmmm...that's a good question. I would call your Flex Account company and ask them if the card can be used out of the country. Make sure you write down the names of the people you talk to if they say it can be used. I paid for mine using a credit card. I called the company in advance and let them know I would be making a large purchase in MX. They said everything was fine and it was noted on my account. I got to MX and the card wouldn't work. Yolanda was very nice and we called the credit card company. It turned out they didn't do what they were supposed to. Since they had noted on my account that I called, everything went through a lot faster. There was also an issue with the exchange rate. My credit card charges a fee for using the card outside the country. You may also want to check and see how the Flex card handles that.

    Nexxium & Prilosec

Oooh thanks y'all! I am taking Nexxium 20 mg once a day and I only seem to have breakthrough problems when I eat something acidic. Tomato sauce does this to me a lot. My mom said I could cut the acid with a little sugar in the sauce but I haven't tried it yet. Lemonade made me feel like I was on fire, but of course that is acid to the max. If I have a breakthrough I take Gaviscon but it is weird foaming in my mouth before I swallow it. This is good information to have if my Nexxium stops working.
  3. I didn't pee for a day I think. I remember thinking that I had TONS of IV Fluid in me and how could I not have to pee? Once I did though...man oh man. I was afraid the stream would never stop!

    Vitamin Suggestions

What if you get a gummy with Vitamins AND minerals? Target has one and so does Centrum (I believe). I have been taking these so I think I will send the amounts to my surgeon and ask if the ones I am taking are ok. I also take the Viactiv calcium chews. I wonder if I have been taking the wrong ones?
  5. Yay! I hope you have a speedy recovery.

    When will i feel better?

You are three days out so you are in a yucky phase right now. Everything feels wonky for a little while. It sounds like acid to me. I know I didn't start my Nexxium until day 5, but you may want to talk to your doc about when to start your meds. The exact day that things get better different for everyone. I would say that the first 7 days was hard for me. I made a turn for the better day 5. Hold on!
  8. Hi y'all. I am in the mushies phase and I am trying to figure out if I can have soft whitefish like tilapia. Do you know if it is ok at this stage or if I need to wait until we move into the full foods phase? Thanks!

    Dr aceves mushies question

I got a finger wagging for eating chicken before the 30 day mark. I told Gaby what I was eating in my weekly email/update. She said no chicken/turkey/deil meat until 30 days to make sure the staple line is healing. She said even if I was tolerating it well that I needed to wait until 30 days. Soooooo....I'm back on softs today. Tomorrow makes thirty days. I bought a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich from the Breakfast cart and just ate the eggs and cheese. They tasted like bacon. mmmm...bacon. I was tempted to not listen to Gaby, but how dumb would I feel if I messed something up even after they told me what to do?

My Plastics Journey - My first one (of several)

Ha ha...butt pads. I found the pasties at Dillards in the lingerie section. You can google silicone nipple covers and find a ton of places that have them on the net. I think Amazon.com has them!
  12. I have done more things that require lifting over the past two days than I have since surgery. I have a 2 yr old so I know how it is that sometimes you don't have much of a choice. Yesterday I had a lot of energy and the baby got a little rambunctious with the play and got on my back like a horsey. Today I went grocery shopping and brought in more groceries than I have in a long time. I have bronchitis so I am coughing a LOT. I am really sore in my midsection and much more tired than I have been in a couple of weeks. I don't think I have damaged anything. I am able to eat and drink but I have a lot of "bathroom issues" today. I wonder if the movement/exercise got the digestive system going? I figure the soreness is just some exercise
  13. LOL! I just thought I had a lot on my mind. I will have trouble sleeping for 2-3 nights and then crash super early the next night and sleep all the way through. I was having terrible nightmares last week but I think they have passed this week.

    Squash Casserole

I haven't heard of this one yet but I'm willing to try anything new at this point.

    sundae???

I tried some thinking it would be a good change of pace but oh man was I sick. I have developed lactose intolerance plus the issue with too much sugar at one time. I was miserable for about an hour.

    Just a few random thoughts...

It's true. You don't really "get it" until you live through it. I don't care how many times I have read about people taking pills and getting a stuck feeling. Tonight I decided I was probably far enough out to take my capsules without having to endure the nasty bitter taste any longer... WRONG! I now have the dreaded lump everyone has talked about. I "get it" now and I know I won't be trying this again any time soon! I think that is part of the brilliance of the sleeve. Even if you don't go to meetings, track your food, exercise, or see another single person about your weight, it WILL make you accountable to yourself long enough to develop good habits. My sleeve is becoming my personal food police!
  17. I was sleeved less than a month ago. I am one pound shy of twenty-five pounds gone. I have six days until I move out of "food stages" and into my lifelong eating habits. It hasn't been the easiest ride, but it hasn't been the toughest either. Compared to all the trials and failures of the past 20 years, this is a sugar-free, low-carb cake walk. Things I couldn't eat last week, I can eat this week. I couldn't tolerate scrambled eggs a few days ago and I had them last night for dinner and today for Breakfast. I made a squash casserole for dinner. My food choices are opening up like a whole new world. I am so thankful to have this board to turn to when things get tough. I thrive on information and this is certainly the place for it. There are so many people who have walked this path before me and every last one of them is right about their thoughts/opinions/experiences. This is one of the best things I have ever done for myself.

    Just a few random thoughts...

Going into this I swore I was pretty well prepared, but every day I find something that I didn't think would happen. Little things surprise me every day...my rings fitting again; my watch sliding down my arm; my jeans not squeezing my incisions; how people constantly stare when I am eating... I haven't hit 30 days yet but I am so excited about the new recipes I will experiment with for me and my family. I am excited that my baby will grow up with a healthy attitude towards food (at least in this house)!

My Plastics Journey - My first one (of several)

Hey there! A few years ago I had a reduction due to migraines, back pain, shoulder pain....blah blah blah. I went from an H to a full C. It did take a few months for everything to work itself out with swelling and stitching and stuff. The hardest thing for me to deal with was that my headlights were ALWAYS on for no good reason. They said it had to do with nerve regeneration. I found these little silicone petals/pasties to put over my nipples so I wouldn't take out someone's eye. Yours look fantastic by the way!

    Squash Casserole

I was a little worried about it not being mushy enough but I'm sure I am going to get more squash in my bags as the fall/winter starts to hit. I got some tomatoes and bell peppers so I am not sure what I want to do with those this week.

    Another NSV

    Congratulations!
  22. For my bronchitis, they gave me Flonase and it completely dried up my nose for a few hours. It may be something you want to check into?
  23. I went to the urgent care this morning because I coughed all night long. They said I have bronchitis. They prescribed Flonase and a z-pack. I took the z-pack crushed with applesauce. Now an hour later my stomach is cramping HARD. It is painful and I break out in a cold sweat. Has anyone had this happen before? I have a call in to my doctor but just waiting in agony here. I've closed my door and put my head on the desk waiting for the feeling to pass.

    Difficulty swallowing pills

Have you tried cutting the pills into smaller pieces and mixing them in applesauce? I am three weeks out and I can't tolerate pills yet. I have to crush everything or open the capsules and mix them in something. Good luck!
