Hello Guys, I have great news. I am in onederland. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I broke the 200 mark. This was my first goal. It has been a long year but it is gone forever. I am so happy. I will just keep on trying to get rid of this weight. Next goal 180.

BandedmomX6, When I went to the doctor last week for a fill he said they were happy with a 50 lb weight loss in a year. I went in there all down on myself and he just pulled me by the bootstrap and said I was doing doing great and that I should be happy I am not doing any back sliding. So hang in there we are not going to fail. We will just take our time and do it right. Keep up the hard work. We will get there. Just ask Denise
-
Hey Denise, Good work at reaching your goal. I am so happy for you. Thanks for the advise on a resting metabolism test. I think I will ask my doctor about it. At least it gives you a ball park figure to work with. Maybe it will help with a faster weight loss.

Good morning, Yea 2 lbs this week. I'm on the move again. Yes yes yes

Hey Candy, You are lucky that you get to see the Dr. that did your surgery. I did get to see Dr. Lin one time after my surgery. He is a cool guy, but so busy. I did go in for a fill last week and I think it has started me on the road to losing again. My official weigh in day is Weds. so we will see. I do try to excersice. I walk 1.5 miles a day and we have a small farm so I have to do the chores. I really din't try to push myself until I lost 30 lbs. as my back, knees and heels hurt.

Angelsoul, What is the difference between the body bugg and the Actitrainer????

Minpinmom, I found dailyplate too and love it. I have been using it for a few months. I used FitDay too, but since I have been using dailyplate I won't go back to fitday. It seems that the food choices are so much better on dailyplate.

I used Dr. Lin in the same office as Dr. Davis. I really like him, but after surgery you never get to see him. The interns do all of the fills some are good some not so good. I saw Dr. White yesterday and really loved him. Have you ever seen him? He was so encourging and made me feel ok with the loss I have had.

Thanks shortgal.

Well ladies I just got back from the doctor and he made me feel better. He said they are happy with a 50 lb loss in the first year. I am a little behind in that with only losing 40lbs. but he said at least I am not gaining any weight and he was pretty happy with my progress. I'll give you guys a little background on myself. I was banded in Atlanta on May8th 2007. I started out at 245 lbs and now I'm at 205. I have the large VG 10cc band. I have had 5 fills and today he put in another cc so I'm at 9cc in the VG band. I do exercise. I try to walk 1.5 miles a day in 30 min. We also have horses, ducks , chickens and dogs that I help take care of. I track everything that I put in my mouth on mydailyplate.com (great site) I try to be as accurate as possible, but as you guys know nothing is perfect. They say at my height and weight I should eat around 1600 calories a day. With the exercise I do I am around 1000 calories a day sometimes more some times less. Even with being a slow loser I still am better off then I was a year ago. Also had blood work done this week at my primary doctors office and every thing there has improved too. So I decided I am going to stop beating myself up and go with the flow. The doctor wants me back for another fill in a month if I don't start losing after this fill today. So my head is going to get in the right place.
-
Can I join you guys. I am a slow loser too. I have been banded 11 months and have only lost 38 lbs. (I can't update my ticker for some reason) I do not lose 2 lbs a week. I try to eat right and I do walk 1.5 miles a day. I just am so fursterated. I really really try.
-
Maybe they left a piece of medical equipment inside of you. It has happened before.
-
I am so proud of all of you. You guys have done so well. I am only down 35 lbs. since my banding May 08, 2007. I feel like such a loser. I am really trying. Walking 1.5 miles a day. Protein first then vegs and still the weight is not coming off. I do have an appointment on March 4 for another fill, but I do have some restriction now so I don't know if he will give me a fill or not. I have just started to come back and read some on lap band talk to get some motivation. So guys kick me in the butt. Again you guys are doing great keep up the good work.

I'm from White, Ga in the northwest area around Cartersville. I have not been banded yet either. I'm waiting to see if my insurance is going to cover it or not. I have done everything that was needed. So it got turned in to the the insurance company so now we wait and see. My surgeon is Dr. Lin at Emory Bariatrics in Atlanta. If my insurance won't cover it I'm on a plane to Mexico and will have Dr. Ortiz do the surgery. Everything I have read about him sounds good. I have read his book Lap Band for Life and I think he is more than quailified. My big fear with having the surgery in Mexico is having someone here in the states if you have an emergency. I talked to Carolyn (She works in Dr. Ortiz's office) and she said the doctors in Georgia have gotten together and they charge Mexico banders $2000.00 to take over their care. Can anyone tell me what the interest rate was with Capitol One? I have gotten a loan in case I have to self pay and its rate is 11% I think that is high I have a good credit score.

All a EGD is a scope down your throat to look into your stomach. You are put to sleep to do it and it is no big deal.

This is my first time posting on the May banders. I was banded in Atlanta on May 08th 2007. I have only lost 23 lbs so far and I'm getting so frusterated. I am trying to make good food choices, but the wieght is just not coming off. I have not lost a pound this month. I have not been exercising though. I wanted to lose around 30 lbs before I started to excercise make it a little eaiser on my heels and knees as I have some pain. I have been getting my protein in and drinking my water but the wieght is not coming off. I have had three fills in a VG 10cc band. I have around 7cc in it. I do have restriction as if I eat to fast I get the lovely pain in the stomach to remind me to slow down. I can eat alot though if I eat slow. I was scheduled for another fill in September but I changed the appointment to October because I didn't think I could take another fill. I do PB if I eat too fast. Any suggestions on % of protein, carbs, fats we should do in a day. How many calories in a day. I know by some of the posts that some take in around 600 to 800 calories. I would starve if that is the case. I still get hungry and do not stay full for 4 hours. Please help me get a handle on this so I can get started losing again. I also started an accout on fitday.com to track my calories yeserday. any help will be appreciated.

Boo Boo Kitty, What a beautiful picture. Wow You are an inspiration to all of us that are struggling with this band at times. Thank you!!!!! -
Pattychat, Look for another Dr. I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket prior to surgery. I had Dr. Lin from Emory.

Beach140 You are doing great. Keep up the good work. You have lost 30+ and banded after I was. I do have good news my scale has started to move.Yeaaaaaaaaaa. I stayed the same for a month. Then started to keep track on fitday.com and started to walk a little everyday and suddenly its starting to move. I am so happy. I went through my closet and pulled out jeans that are to big. I'm going to pass them on. I will pray I will never be that big again. Keep up the good work.

Hi 4RE4ME, Thanks for getting back to me. I am trying very hard to get on track so I can get the scale to move. I have started walking this week and I will try not to snack on anything high calorie. I also started to track everything on fitday.com. What a great free site. It is amazing what I put in my mouth and how fast it adds up. So maybe by seeing it in black and white it will keep me honest with myself. I see you are 50 too. I wonder if it comes off slower when you get older? Anyway thanks for the pep talk I needed it.

SimplyMe, We all have our fears. I was banded on May 8, 2007. So far so good. I have not had a single problem. I feel good and I'm looking forward to my first fill. I'm back to work and eating well. Rest assured that I was scared before surgery and I also did not know if I could control my eating. I feel I am eating too much now,but I think a fill will help me with that. I try to eat well, but I just wanted you to know that all of us have fears. You will do fine and the band will help you with your eating. I wanted you to know that some of us are not having any problems with the band. Good luck with your surgery.

Hey Guys/Gals, Well I had my surgery on May 8th, 2007 and I am officially a bandster. So far so good. Very little pain. I am back to work and can eat anything that I can put in a blender and puree. I do have some pain at the port site and I was wondering if anyone else can feel their port. mine seems to be near the surface and it causes a slight bump on my stomach. Is this normal? When I roll over it seems to pull some is that normal? I was just wondering. Thanks for the help.

Hey Stacy, We are neighbors. I'm from White, Ga. I also had my surgery with Dr. Lin on May 8th. How are you doing? I am down 91/2 lbs. and still on the puree stage. I can start soft foods tomorrow. Other wise doing pretty good. I went back to work a week after surgery and I think it was a little too soon as I was very tired by the end of the day. I'm going to send you a private message to give you my phone number so we can talk if you like. I'm glad you are doing so well. I go for my follow up on June 20th. Dr. Lin didn't want to see for 6 weeks.

Hello, I am a May bandster too. My date is May 8th. I am getting a little scared. Can I do this? I am not afraid of the surgery. I am afraid of eating after surgery and for the rest of my life. I have read that some have lost a bunch of weight and other just a few pounds. I don't want to go through this and not be successful. Oh well that is enough venting. I will succeed. Good luck to everybody getting banded this month.
