I started my journey in January and I finally got my surgery date of May 8th so I will be a May bandster. I am getting a little nervous and wondering if I can live with the band. I know I can't continue to live like I am so I feel I will use this tool and get rid of this weight. I am getting excited too. Well wish me luck.

Kat You are almost at a year.Congrats 87 pounds wow. Your life must be so changed. Has it been hard? Are you still losing at a good rate? Would you do it again? Can you give us prebanders any suggestions? What kinds of problems have you had?

Transam1955 How are you doing? How was your pain? Are you back to work? Are you losing anything? Keep us posted on your progress and congrats. You keep up the good work and be sure to do what the doctor says so you heal right so you don't have problems later. Roxie1951

I have bc/bs Georgia. I had to jump through several hoops, but was notified that they have approved my surgery. It took over a month for them to decide, but none the less I got approved on the first time. That is so rare. I'm excieted and scared at the same time. I start all my pre-op testing next week. Good luck Roxanne

pre-op - was everyone scoped before surgery???
Roxie1951 replied to mylapspirit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shelli, I just got insurance approval on friday so now I'm doing all my preop stuff this month. I do have to have a scope and he will take a biopy for H pylori. (I have no idea what that is) I also will have blood work, xray, pulmonary function with arterial blood gases and i have to attend a nutrition class. This is after a phychological evaluation and nutritional eval. from a registered dietitian. The surgery is being done at a very wiil known bariatic center so i guess the doctor is just careful. I'm just so happy that I got approval with the first request. Roxanne -

Tracy, I have been following your posts and could not find where you had your surgery. I'm glad I found you again and have your date. Keep us posted. I have my appointment with the surgeon on Weds. the 14th of Feb., but then its the insurance waiting game. I have all of the other requirements done. But I'm sure the insurance company will come up with some reason to deny me. I am so happy for you. I'm sure the wait will go by quickly and the end result will be worth it. Roxie -
Hi Everyone, I am in the process of getting insurance approval. My insurance is BCBS Georgia HMO so I know it will be a fight. I hate insurance companies. My doctor is in the process of getting my medical necessity letter ready.(The first one got lost) The referral and the medical letter of clearance for surgery is at the surgeon office. I have an appointment Monday with the dietitian for a nutritional evaluation and a appointment for my psychological examine on January 31st. I am trying to get all my ducks in a row so if and when the insurance company says yes I'm ready. I know if the insurance company says no I will be on a flight to Mexico for a self pay. I want to get rid of this weight so bad I'm willing to do anything I have to do. Is there anyone else from Georgia that is in the process or that has already been banded? I'm trying to have my surgery at Emroy hospital in Atlanta.I'm going to Emroy Bariatrics . I really enjoyed the web site keep up the good work
