It is most likely nothing but Ouch!
melinekesh replied to zephra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got sleeved on June 8th and still my largest incision is hurting terribly. I was wondering if something was wrong. I think after reading all the posts on yours it seems it is common. My doctor told me it is okay since that is the area that took the brunt of the bruising. I have to take my liquid vicodin every few days still. I try not to but somedays it is aweful and I have a 2 year old! Hope it gets better soon for us all:smile1: -
Still Having Big Problems and I Need Suggestions
melinekesh replied to tbarnes18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry that you are experiencing this. Do you have any idea what size sleeve you are (32,34 ,36, or 40?) I am a 40. My surgeon says he no longer does smaller sizes because it causes too many problems with getting fluids down. Unfortunately, I can get down more fluids than others and I wonder if later I will eat more than others. Good luck and hope your esophages calms down soon! -
whos your surgeon and how many sleeves did they do before doing yours??
melinekesh replied to NY Lou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to Dr. Sergey Lyass. He told me that for 2 years he had done 40 sleeves. Before that for many years he had done gastric bypass and lapbands at a popular place in L.A. I think it was 1800-get thin? I didn't know anyone who had gone to him but the nurses highly recommended him and confirmed he does most of the surgeries for sleeves in their hospital. I was sleeved on June 8 and my only out of the ordianry issue is lots of pain still at the larger incision sight. That coul be due to my fibromayalgia. I am sensitive to injuries. -
Okay, My bmi was 35.7 when I weighed in. 35 bmi was the absolute minimum for the hospital to give me the surgery. I lost 13 lbs. so my bmi was 34. He told me too that it doesn't matter and he was right. I made them weigh me because I was so concerned about the anasthsia. Didn't want them giving me drugs according to my previous weigh in. No one asked any questions. I was a cash patient no insurance.

Could this be a new wierd side effect?
melinekesh replied to Lillie24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I used to sweat even in 60 degree weather and I live in L.A. and it has been over 70. I am not hot! I was freezing one morning and had to stay under the covers. I get cold so easily. so it doesn't seem weird that you are, don't worry. -
OMG PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!! 3days out
melinekesh replied to chrissysodapop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Yes I went through the same thing. They gave me a prescription acid reducer. Not prilosec. I had to crush it and put it in water but it saved me. Ask your doctor about it too, but you probably need to get an acid reducer because you are all swollen inside still. Don't worry everyday is a day closer to feeling better. You will be doing great before you know it! -

How much is too much for almost 2 weeks out?
melinekesh replied to texaschick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, my doctor's nutritionist is ultra strict. I can't eat that menu you had until I am 4 weeks out! Glad to hear you are doing well with it. -
Hi Christie
I got sleeved on June 8th. When is yours? Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!

It seems like about every 2 hours I am hungry.
melinekesh replied to escapesunshine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got sleeved on June 8th. I am hungry about 30 minutes after I have my Protein liquid. Can't wait to stary on full liquids next week. Can't stand the empty twinge. I am going to start taking the acid meds. I read on someone else's comment that it helped take that away. thanks to all of you on this website! It helps so much! -
What surgery can i tell people i've had instead of telling them about the sleeve?
melinekesh replied to jemmacahill's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you!! Keep it to yourself and only with the ones that will support you and not judge you. I was feeling soooo guilty keeping from so many people. I am glad to hear that you did the same. I ended up having a hernia when they went in there so I stuck with that. I said that I had a huge hernia to my inlaws because they wanted to come over. But I heard that hernia don't need robotic surgery. You could also say you had acouple of fibroid tumers in your uterus because they are common and require a long recovery but I don't know about the robotic part. Try not to tell anoyone anything if you don't even see them. You can say you did the south beach diet and excercised. I once lost 40 ilbs on that in 3 months. Anyway good luck and keep it to yourself. -
Hi I had mine on the 8th of june! How are you? I am doing okay this week. I am such a baby at surgery. Whinned and drove my sister nuts the first 3 days after. I have sorness at the large incision site and still cannot play and hug my kids like I used to. I am down 20lbs. I started at 198. I am really hungry though. Can't wait for next week. I hurts in my chest when I swallow to big. I had my doctor's appt. he said all is well and allowed me the drink the protein shakes now but still hungry! Everyone says that they are not hungry. Are you? Well hope you are doing well.

12 days out and no restrictions???
melinekesh replied to Mommy4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely doesn't sound normal at all. Be careful! You are not healed yet. Call your doctor and a seperate nutritionist to confirm. My nutritionist is absolutely adamant about not having reg. food for 8 weeks! She explained that the stiches can open up and you can have bleeding. Call your doctor and another one too to confirm asap! -
Extreme weakness post-op
melinekesh replied to Georgia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi There, Have someone go to the Vitamin Shoppe and get you whey Protein. Unflavored, totally melts in luke warm or I think cold. Not in hot, it curdles. I put it in my buillon. I get 78g of protein a day or I would be like you. I am weak, I am 6 days out, but not as much. Try it. Melinekesh -
Aching back muscles?
melinekesh replied to SParkle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will find out this thursday when I can see my chiro. Hopefully soon. I have to admit. Today I felt a little better and had more hours in between my vicodin. I am 6 days out today. Good luck with your back. It is tough! -
My esophages hurts when I burp real bad!!!
melinekesh posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 days out and my esophages began to hurt 3 days out. Is it from burping too much and my esophages is sore? I get a huge pain in my chest and my back. I take sips and it doesn't seem to help. Any suggestions? -
Hi Well I am certainly glad to hear I am not the only one! I am 5 days out. I was feeling just like you. I had some weird panic attacks a couple of weeks prior but it went away. I had all the same concerns. Just to give you a piece of mind, you get a relaxing cocktail, as they put it, just before you go in the surgery room. They weren't kidding. Didn't remember a thing until I woke up. I also was worried about new wardrobe, people asking me too much how I lost it, etc. But right now I am 18 lbs down, including the liquid stage before surgery and I could care less about all those worries I had. I thank my husband for being so supportive. Especially in our economic time in our home. Relax, it is no picnic, but worth every step of the way for me so far.

Aching back muscles?
melinekesh replied to SParkle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My back is totally messed up too. It is because of exactly what you said. Overcompensating. I am 5 days out. Can't wait to be able to see my chiropractor again. -
OK, I can't stand Isopure, any other ideas
melinekesh replied to texaschick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad you asked I feel the same way! okay, vitamin shoppe is where i got it. Jay Robb unflavored whey protein powder. It disolves in cold and warm water but not hot water. Melt your buillon cube and wait a bit. Put a scoop of the powder in a large enough saucepan with the buillon in it and use a wisker to break it up. Takes a few minutes but totally melts! and no taste at all except the buillon!!! I am so excited. I am 5 days out. good luck -
Now what..... (very long sorry)
melinekesh replied to RDABGA's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You have been through it all!!!!!!!!! I just got the sleeve 4 days ago. In my understanding with my nutrtionist, by the time you are 10 weeks out, you can eat whatever you want. This meaning, crunchy, mushy, etc. So salad better be on the list. It is something I have always eaten even in between all the bad stuff. Call your doctor's office and get a nutrtionist to talk to you. Good luck and may you never be in pain again. -
