My husband was home for R&R from Iraq and during a family get away to San Antonio's Sea World there we were about to get on a roller coaster ride. Well you can imagine what happened. The safety belt would not fit on it's own. My husband was able to "assist" me with that but during the entire ride all I could thing of is how has it come to this? Then there was the photo we picked up at the end of the day. WOW, who was the lady with them. Once we returned home from our  trip I discussed my desire to pursue the lap band surgery with my husband. He was very supportive and realizes the health issues I have had in the past and the health issues my family has. So I made an appointment with my doctor to discuss this and she said I would be an excellent candidate for the procedure. I had already been researching the surgery for about a year and had already picked out a doctor. My family doctor knew him and said he is actually the best in the area and a teacher of the lap band not to mention a patient himself. That doctor is Dr. Adam Smith of Fort Worth, Texas. I visited with his office and was immediately welcomed with such a positive reaction. His office has a nutritionist on site, a counselor and group sessions. Love that support system. I also visited the seminar that Dr. Smith had available and learned a few more things. I sent my request in to the insurance company, was approved and then scheduled for surgery. Even though I have been thinking about this for over a year the process from me visiting with my doctors to surgery was two months. Guess it really is my time. Anyway from my first weigh in at Dr. Smith's office (257) to today (3 days post-op 236) I am on my way. It is not easy to recover from any surgery but I am doing ok.
