Food in my throat....
jillw8 replied to meggspeggs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had the same thing. It is likely just from normal post-surgery inflammation at the sleeve/esophagus junction. Mine is okay if I just take small bites. -
Getting ready for surgery....
jillw8 replied to readingteacher's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My first week post op I was NEVER hungry. I am almost 3 weeks out and really dont feel hungry. The pangs that do come are mild in comparison to preop. It will be better than you think! Again, good luck! Jill -
Is it pretty normal to be tired a lot and fatigue easily when in the mushy food stage? I have still been walking dog and staying active. Im just exhausted all of the time. I didnt know if it was simply because of decreased food intake. Advice appreciated.

Why the Shock and Disdain for WLS
jillw8 replied to favoredone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It is sad how little some peolple really don't understand obesity. I know it is hard if you have never been through it but come on. To me, it is like telling someone who needed a heart surgery that it was the easy way out. That surgery was to save their life, much like the was to save our lives. I try to calmly explain the reason and that it is a TOOL and not an easy fix. If they don't understand, so be it. Very well put! -
*best not wet.

I also have fallen arches and it makes it hard to run because of foot pain abd knee pain. My personal trainer a while back recommended Asics. I would also recommend going to a running shoe store. They measure you arches and feet. Then give you about 3-4 shoes to try on. They also watch you walk and run in them. That was the wet pair I ever had! Then, you can keep buying the same shoe after that. Good luck!

Getting ready for surgery....
jillw8 replied to readingteacher's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello, Diane. Congrats on your journey! I was sleeved on the 30th of august. The days before I started questioning my decision and was wondering if it was right. If I could do this, why can't I do it on my own? But, like you said, I've dealt with it my entire life and without this would have continued to be a problem...and probably worsened. It I'd absolutely normal to feel afraid. You wouldn't be human if you didn't. Just know that almost all of us go through that. You will be fine and do great! Good luck and feel free to ask me anything since I am only 2 weeks out. Jill -
I am getting my surgery on Tuesday and am so excited. The only thing I am nervous about is I have a binge eating problem. I have tried to overcome it for years. I am nervous I will still have those cravings and will be an emotional wreck. Anyone out there deal with binge eatin after the surgery? I am hopin it will just go away but I think I will see a counselor afterwards. I'm worried I will be a mess!

I have always liked protein shakes and drank them before surgery. I am 10 days post-op and when I start drinking one I get nauseous and have to choke it down. Anyone else have this? Any suggestions? I can get some protein from food but I am still on muahies.

Im 9 days postop and trying to be a good patoent. So last night I'm walking my dog, walking, walking and bam! I'm on the sidewalk. I look down And managed to find the booby trap. A hole in the sidewalk perfectly hidden by grass. So I ended up with a twisted ankle, busted knee, and a laughing pizza delivery boy who happened to drive by. Ha! That must of been a sight. Had to limp my a$$ half mile home. Maybe today will be better.

considering the surgery but scared to death!!
jillw8 replied to markajd's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am almost 2 weeks out and I have to say it wasnt nearly as bad as I had prepared for. The pain isn't bad, I was drinking enough and have only had several waves of nausea that quickly passed. I am newly sleeved and already know that this was the best decision of my life. I would be saying this even if I did have complications. Weight has controlled too many things in my life and I am sure it is similar for you. End the end my health and happiness were worth more than possible (and rare) complications. Good luck while making your decision. Either way is not the wrong decision. -

I tried gasx strips, only mild relief. I walked A LOT. as far as the vitamins, I use the bariatric advantage. The chewables. They aren't great so I just chew fast and then rinse down with some water. They have never bothered me juat don't taste great. Good luck! -
*not wad.....that was supposed to say head. Stupid autocorrect.
-
I am not as far out as you but I have already had the same feelings. Its that little voice in the back of your wad trying to make you do those things and believe you will fail at this to. But whatnot doesn't know is you are a stronger, and happier person since getting this surgery. You have come so far and now that voice wants to win. Do not let it. I try positive talk when that happens. "I know I shouldn't of done that but It is okay I am strong and will overcome." forgiveness is important in these situations. Just forgive, move on ad don't let those voices win. You CAN do this and WILL do this. Start tracking food again if you arent. You can do it!

I was done on 8/30. I was in a lot less discomfort than expected. The worse is the gas pain. Mine lasted over a week. I never had any issues and can't wait to see some results. Good luck! Can't wait to share this journey with everyone! -
I'm day 10 and very hungry today! I don't know what it is. Guess I will eat some more cottage cheese.

Way to go! Those are great victories! -
Lol. That was why I shared! Thought it was funny. I'm okay. Just a little sore.

I started muahies yesterday. I know the no drinking rule-15 minutes before and 30 minutes after. Is that the same for mushy/full liquids?
-
OK Mid-August sleevers, what are ya'll eating now???
jillw8 replied to blackmikeg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, some of you are lucky! I don't get meats until 4 weeks out and fruits and veggies are at week 5. I wonder why mine is a little stricter? Hmmm. Oh well. I'm doing what they tell me. -
I love mine. I cant use it right now because of a hip issue.
