I have read several posts on acne post op due to our hormones going crazy. I have never had acne, not even in teen years do I just figured it wouldn't happen. WRONG! I feel like I'm a teenager. Had to buy my first acne treatment as I'm nearly 28. Lol. If thats the worst I will take it over being fat forever. Anyone else have it too? I'm 6 weeks post op...and just readdded birth control but that is supposed to help!

Congrats on being sleeved! Sounds like you are doing great. I had to do a week of clear liquids so the full for you should be nice!

Hello. I can't say I have experience with the band personally but I am a nurse so have seen patients and have a friend who are going through the same thing. I was originally considering the band but after hearing so many experiences like yours I chose the sleeve and it is the best thing I have ever done. I am only 6 weeks out and know this was the right decision. The recovery was easy. Without the hernia repair I could have went back to work after a couple weeks. I have lost 34 lbs so far. I love the fact that for the rest of my life I won't have to worry about overstuffing myself....it would be nearly impossible. I have never puked, and never had pain. I wish you the best and can't wait to hear how it all goes! Jill

how do I deal with my stuffed down anger, fear, anxiety and sadness once food is taken away?
jillw8 replied to bethk12@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was the same way. Ate a chili dog and fries the day before surgery. I was scared. I am now 6 weeks postop and I have to say I am enamored with what the surgery does. The hunger is just not there which is the first helpful thing. Secondly, for me I want to work on changing my habits and the surgery is a HUGE motivator that is a gift. I have taken the surgery as an obligation to my health ad follow the guidelines they give you. Eating only 3 times per day has so eliminated a lot of desire. I know it will probably return but I am working mentally now. I hope you have te same experience because it has been easier than I thought! Good luck! -
I am also a nurse an will be returning to work in 2 weeks. I haven't had any problems but I glad I took that much off. Working as a nurse you don't really get to follow lifting restrictions vert well. I wish you the best! I will also be taking quick protein...like string cheese, that I can grab easily. I know we will figure it out. Good luck!

That was supposed to be a smiley face....

Congrats on your successful journey beginning! I will try to answer but this is just my experience. I was sleeved on August 30. 1) I had many of the same feelings that felt like hunger....but honestly before surgery I rarely let myself feel hunger so I don't know for sure what it should feel like nor a normal person. This is the why I validates those pains: our old stomachs gurgled and maid noise even when we weren't hungry and now that our stomachs our much smaller, we can feel those gurgles more. Could be way off but I try to ignore it and drink flavored Water. 2) everyone is different and 10lbs is still amazing! I try to not focus only on the scale but it's ao hard because it's all we want to see move quickly! Hang in there it will continue to come off. 3) does the pain shoot down your leg? If it does it is most likely nerve pain...moat likely sciatica. You might have some inflammation from the surgery that is irritating or pressing on your nerve. Try ice or heat. Probably heat if it feels muscle related. Probably didn't help you but I hope that you continue to feel well and know you will succeed! Jil )

I sure it will get better. Synthroid or it's likeness is a finicky pill that doesn't get absorbed right if not taken right so I am sure your blood work will be better! I'm sure you will feel better too!

Congrats! You will do great and be so glad you did it! Good luck!

Your thyroid can cause lots of problems: weight gain, hair loss, fatigue, abnormal periods, temperature imtolerance, and more. I hope they get it under control but at least the meds have been proven to be effective. It will work!

If its any consellation I am almost 6 weeks out and still can't eat very much but I do manage to get my fluids....barely some days. I have a rare pain sometimes that it feels like food is stuck but I think I just need to chew better.

I would call your doc. Mine told me one thing to remember forever: pain or vomiting are not normal. Good luck and I hope you get answers! Jill

My nutritionist recommended powdered Peanut Butter ( I know sounds gross) called PB2. You mix 2 tablespoons of the powder with 1 tablespoon of Water....and voila...peanut butter that actually tastes amazing! Its about 6 dollars a jar but nutrition info is amazing: 2 tbsp of powder: 45 calories 1.5g fat 5g Protein 5g of carbohydrates 2g of Fiber Here is the link for online order but some stores carry it. http://www.bellplantation.com Worth it! I'm addicted!

Is there a normal amount of food?
jillw8 replied to MegaSue1017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on August 30 and can stomach about 1/2 of food. My diet progression is a little slower than some others. I have never Vomited and am happy with the amount I can eat. According to my doc I should be able to do 3/4c but can't do it yet. Good luck! -
Post Op Pics - 4 Months Out
jillw8 replied to JG407's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wowser! That is an amazing transformation! And in such short time! Congrats! How did you do it such short time? I am 1 month out and have lost 30 so far. Did you work out like crazy!? -
Welcome! I was sleeved 5 weeks ago and couldnt be happier with my decision! Life changing!

Today is my 1 month follow up with the NP and I had multiple dreams of me cheating last night. The first one I was boozing hard, the 2nd one I ate some kind of huge piece of cake that was amazing, and the third one I ate a cheeseburger. I actually woke up thinking I really did it. Then when I realized it was a dream, I laughed. Can't take the obsessive thoughts away I guess!

What do I have to look forward to??
jillw8 replied to TheRealMeIsHere!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was 2 in the afternoon and I was discharged at 630 the next day. No complications at all. When I woke up from anesthesia was the worst pain I had post op but it was still tolerable. Gettimg up and down during post op with IV fluids was tricky. Pain wasnt bad after leaving hospital, by week 2 I was pretty much pain free. I was on clear liquids for a week and had no problems getting them in or keeping them down. I haven't vomited once as I am about 5 weeks out. -
I had the same problem. I take benadryl. Same thing they add to tylenol PM but cheaper. Good luck!

Interesting. Hope it's not true. I don't trust wikipedia. Anyone can post on a topic on wikipedia. I will have to check it out because I already a little blond and have issues with such things.

How Soon Were You Back To Work?
jillw8 replied to Tai29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If i had a desk job or a job without lifting I could have went back after 2 weeks. However, I am a nurse on a busy hospital floor and do a lot of lifting. With the large hernia I had repaired I am going to be off 6 weeks to be sure I don't damage anything. Recovery has been easy!
